Gentle Alarm

Jan 2017: has stopped working correctly (won't play selected song for alarm, no snooze/off buttons when it does go off). emailed developer 3 times over the last month with no response. very disappointed, as I've loved, and even purchased, this app. but it looks like it's not being supported any more. [Pixel XL, Android 7.1.1.]

UPDATE: No longer supported. Some bugs - e.g. I "skip next alarm" but it goes off anyway. Still a good one. (Original review: I love it but sometimes sleep through it - then the helpful dev pointed out the "safe alarm" option which finally resorts to a loud buzzing, if I still haven't woken. Thanks! Best alarm I've found on Play, and I've tried a bunch.)

Very customizable alarm. I really like using the night mode as a clock at night especially since my Galaxy S7 has an AMOLED display so the black parts of the screen don't emit any light. I just wish I could see the time of day that it appears when I'm charging.

Randomly crashes which is not ideal for an alarm clock! Also, the font for the night clock spontaneously resets to an unreadably small font if in portrait orientation . Either of these bugs renders the app useless on my phone. It does work fine on my tablet (Note Pro), but I need it to work on my phone.

Don't want this feature on widget, but can't find where to turn it off. Please advise. Ditto for "toasts" or whatever it's called where window pops up for 5 seconds to tell me I just did what I already know I've done. ANNOYING. Happy to pay more for added features even though I have pro. Love Gentle Alarm, it's reliable & perfect for me :)

The very best alarm clock there is for Android. I previously gave this app a poor review, but that was because I wasn't using it properly. The pre-alarm feature is worth the money in itself. Without fail, every day it wakes me up at the perfect time, able to get up immediately. It doesn't rely on sleep detection, which requires you to sleep with your phone or wear a watch to bed. It just uses a pre-alarm that wrong wake you unless you're ready, or until your main alarm goes off. It's brilliant. It also has loads of options and settings to get it to do what you want. Just needs an aesthetic upgrade.

It's a very nice and useful app! But something that would make the app worth 5 stars for me is if the app would have spotify support. Because i don't have any other music. Also a possibility to make the last alarm after snoozing a bit louder

Really good customisable app. Only suggestion I have for improving would be to have option to fix the screen orientation to vertical or horizontal as it can be tricky to turn off sometimes when in bed and it keeps flipping between the two orientations.. especially when half asleep.

This has been my only alarm app for years. Unfortunately the developer was injured and isn't updating much. The app doesn't seem to work with storage access framework so things like a custom photo background in an alarm don't work. But, it's still so useful that I'll keep using it until it truly breaks.

I hate being startled awake by a blaring alarm, this app is great. Usually I wake on the quietest setting. Only one glitchy problem where you have to press "off" twice sometimes. But given this app has worked well for ages I'm not bothered about that

Not supported anymore. It has quit alarming on set times. Was two hours early this morning and did not alarm at all one day last week. While the concept of a random alarm clock is absurdly humorous it is very hard to live with. If I wanted that I would get a cat.

No support, Won't return emails. Last update in June. Seems to work fine on lollipop, but is definitely broken with Nougat. New info. As time goes on and this app becomes more out of date. I now have to force close the program (to get the alarm buzzer to terminate). I don't like the buzzer, but as finding music (in a folder) no longer functions, the buzzer is the only alarm sound that works. Lazy, Lazy programmer. i would give it a 0 star if it were available.

This alarm not only success where others (non app alarms) all have failed, it does more. Must have, even bought again when sick off Amazon app store. The dev seems to always be making improvements. There's a forum and more support as well. Works in two different ways with Bluetooth speakers, if you need more wake up power.

This app is so customizable that you can wake up however you want!! My favorite thing is the text to speech message reading--it really gets me up in the morning. My only suggestion is to add a movement feature to the safe mode (I sometimes dismiss my alarms but then fall asleep)

Can you change the screen displayed after I hit snooze? It's dark and I hit snooze on a dim screen. And then BAM, it goes to the lock screen at full brightness. Can you just go to black after hitting snooze? A dim intermediate screen for 10 sec so I can put the phone down? Pixel running latest 8.0.0. Thank you!

Installed on my Galaxy S5. It looks nice and the night display is convenient but 3 out of 4 times the alarm failed to work. It said it was on, the time and date were set correctly, but when it came time to activate the app would close. I overslept and nearly missed three appointments. Ive had no choice but to uninstall it and go back to the native Android alarm clock.

I would have given 5 but lately been having prob w it on galaxy 8 (my new phone; never had prob w old phones) . I deleted all the alarms, profiles, un installed and re installed and seems OK now; been a couple of days. I did try other apps but nothing comes close to the functionality of gentle alarm so I hope my issues are solved.

The alarm, for some reason, only goes off in my car, despite being set HOURS away from any time I would be driving. On top of that, the cancellation function doesn't work - it ONLY snoozes. If I didn't set the alarms to turn off after a time, they'd go on forever (or at least until I uninstalled the app) What the hell is going on with this thing?

I wanted an app so it would wake me up to the music from my google play list. I installed the trial version and guess what it needed the full version for me to try and see if its internet stream8ng function worked. So, I am forced to pay and guess what it does not work at all. I wasted money on stupid app that does the same thing that my preinstalled free clock app does!!!!!

Bought this app years ago. Have loved it all along. Problem now. Widget won't update when changing it's settings and it won't even load on reboot. Axon 7 Marshmallow

I've used this app for about 5 years and it has never failed me. Until today. Once I woke up (two hours late!) I checked and the alarm was still set to go off hours prior. Nothing with the setup was done wrong. Seeing as how there hasn't been an update in over a year, I'm not sure what actually happened, and nothing has changed recently with my actual phone updates. Regardless, I'll be searching for a new alarm app ASAP.

Has some bugs and UI issue. I've used it daily for many months and while I recommend it, it has some issues. The major issue,which has caused me to oversleep several times, is that whether you click Snooze or Off the UI for the challenge (I use the dots) is exactly the same. So sometimes I accidentally touch Off when picking up my phone, thinking I hit snooze, and there's no easy way to know this when completing the challenge. Secondly, sometimes I have to press Skip PreAlarm twice as if there were two alarms for the same day and time (there's not).

In the past it has been fantastic - used it for years. But on my s8, when you dismiss or snooze an alarm, it doesn't go away. It stays in your status bar and you have to dismiss it multiple times (I counted 9 times one day) by tapping the icon, having the alarm notification come up, hitting dismiss, confirming... And it's still in your status bar. Rinse, repeat for some arbitrary number of times. Super annoying.

Cannot disable display entirely on alarm, cannot make alarms last longer than 1 hour. I want my alarm to be on for 4 hours. I paid for the product and nobody ever reacted on my problem, I was posting about similar problems 2 years ago, so 1 star for not reacting and not even doing trivial things to make the app better.

Used to work great but the last 2 days has totally stopped working. Alarm does not go off have tried numerous times. Will have to uninstall as an unreliable alarm is no use.

It says no media found when I try to add a folder...I've tried including it in music, sometimes, the gentle alarm data folder, etc, but still can't use my own music... Also tried putting it all in a folder or letting each file individually, but still doesn't work.

I purchased it for playing songs from a folder on scheduled time..i configured profile accordingly.. But it played default alarm sound only. Consulted their helpline. No one replied..

Does not work as advertised. Alarms sometimes don't go off, which can complicate your life. Stick with your cell phone alarm or use a different app.

I've always loved this alarm, but lately I don't know what it is, but the alarms sometimes sound later, if they sound at all. I now need to set another alarm in case this one doesn't go off. So disappointed. Please fix this.

I've been looking for a good gentle alarm for years after my old favourite app updated and ruined itself - and this is it! Just gave it a try last night and woken up this morning feeling fresh, so upgraded immediately! Thank You!

I've been using this alarm for years and it's been rock solid. I recently started looking at other alarms, some are prettier and offer some cloud back-up, but Gentle Alarm has the features needed for an everyday wake up alarm. Like auto launch night display, anti-burn in for display and so much more. I had his app through Amazon, but looks like it's been removed. However, I had no problem buying it here. I've since gotten rid of the 'pretty' alarms. To the developer, a UI refresh would be welcomed ;).

Since updating to android 6(marshmallow) this had become unreliable, alarms not going off most days, been late for work 3 times now already, shame but this app has to go

UPDATE** Every time I sync a new version of my playlists, the app reverts my profiles to the basic alarm sound.** Been using this for years now with all of my trust. Seriously unbeatable quality and ease of use. Alarm perfection.

How to copy and restore backups? Good idea, good range of options. "You missed an alarm" but intentionally 5 seconds so I didn't.

Originally purchased this app several years ago, and liked it. Had to repurchase, due to lack of developer communication for my new device. I would have given it five stars if they had emailed me back.

This has been my primary alarm app for years now and has been used on more than 10 devices over the years and across virtually every Android version. Never a single failure or missed alarm.

I've been using this alarm for nearly 5 years and have never had a problem once. While the interface is a little outdated, it is easy to configure and gets the job done.

Great alarm! Hasn't made me stop snoozing but I do wake up much less annoyed. Love the customizability!
