Discover the Loire à Vélo trail, an 800-km cycling track running alongside the River Loire. A unique trail boasting green landscapes and fresh air, from Cuffy in the Cher to Saint-Brévin-les Pins in the Loire-Atlantique.
The Loire à Vélo app is the first to be dedicated to this itinerary.
This app uses GPS technology to navigate along the Loire à Vélo trail with all the maps embedded. It therefore does not need an internet connection to work except when the app is first started up to download the Loire à Vélo maps.
Services, facilities and point of interest are all geolocated on the itinerary to ensure that you don’t miss any of the many things to see and do on the Loire à Vélo trail.
The Loire à Vélo app accompanies you throughout your trip:
. Points of interest: all the tourism offerings along the itinerary (bike hire firms, heritage, accommodation, restaurants...);
. Suggested itineraries broken down into 3 profiles (excursion, roaming, holiday)
. Weather forecasts;
. Roadmap: After preparing your roadmap on the website www.loire-a-velo.fr, load it onto your app by logging in with your specific login details associated with your account on the site.
You are now ready to discover the whole itinerary or the part that interests you, with your selection of points of interest;
. My trip: GPS geolocation along the itinerary and indication of mileage covered, speed, and time spent.

I really like the idea of the app and it has lots of promise, but it crashes on ny HTC desire. The points of interest and the routes don't work. Also the navigation does not save its data as it progresses, so when the battery goes flat, it.loses everything. So this is a shame, because it could be a great app.

I have used this app a number of times on La Loire à Vélo route. It is very good but could be improved. One problem is that it seems impossible to retrieve those parts of the route that have been recorded under "Navigation". At the top right hand corner of the screen for "Navigation" there is "History". When one opens "History" there is something recorded but it is impossible to see what. It seems to be either a bug or a part of the app that hasn't been implemented for the moment. Please could this be rectified.

The app is a nice idea, but it has many problems. The locations of all the sites and hotels etc are not accurate. They might get you to the general area, but not the correct address as they use what appear to be manually placed markers. So using the take me there option from the information screen will not get you to the correct address. The navigation option is useless as it only tracks where you have been, you can't use it to anywhere. Which is probably a good thing....
