About Class Cards

Class Cards is an easy-to-use yet extremely effective app for boosting student engagement during lessons and discussions. Based on the book I wrote by the same name, this indispensable teaching tool will put your students in the palm of your hand.

After entering the names of your students—or importing a .txt file list of students for each class—the app will display a randomly generated list of students. (See screen shots.)

You’ll see the name of the student to call upon at the top of the list and the names of the next four students to call upon below that. (Knowing who is next enables you to better meet their needs.) There's even a holding area where you can move the name of any student who would like more time to develop a response.

The six score buttons displayed on the screen enable you to easily record the quality of each student's response. (See screen shots.)

Cumulative scores—shown as a percentage—can be checked at any time and can even sorted from high to low so that you'll know who deserves a pat on the back and who needs a bit of encouragement.

Note: A privacy screen allows you to share scores with a student without him seeing the scores of other students.

An added feature is the ability to export scores to the secure ClassCardsApp.com website for viewing or printing. You can also email yourself scores for all classes or a selected class.

- create as many classes as you wish
- add/delete students easily
- sort students by first or last name (first/last in settings)
- duplicate a class and rename it
- reset scores to zero for a new grading period
- mark students absent so that they don't appear in the random list
- absences are automatically cleared before the beginning of the next school day
- shake the device to shuffle the names (enable in settings)
- long press on the Class Cards title bar to shuffle names
- play a sound (Trill) when names are shuffled (enable in settings)
- displays students' scores as a percentage
- select a student from the class roster to call upon
- email yourself scores
- adjustable score values for the six score buttons (enter values in settings)
- info screen with quick links:

Worked perfectly on Galaxy S5, but does not work on Note 7. It won't allow a class to be selected. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still doesn't work. Loved the app when it worked!

Should have read the reviews. Doesn't work on my Galaxy S7. Was really wanting to implement this into my program this year. Already use class CODES, and gestures. This was my next Rick M. "thing". Will wait to try a refund to see if app is fixed.

Worked great last school year. This year I can't even click on a class to add/delete names. I have uninstalled and then installed several times with no luck. My phone is still the same one I used last year so I am totally confused and frustrated. Any ideas how I can get it to work again?

It worked great on my Galaxy S4, but it's entirely unusable on my new Galaxy S7. I can import class lists easily, but the program will not allow me to select a class. Which means I can't open a class and thus can't use it. This used to be one of my favorite teaching tools. Now I can't use it or recommend it. Very disappointing.

PLEASE, PLEASE fix so it will work on Samsung Galaxy 7. It worked great on my Galaxy 5. I upgraded to a 7....now it won't work. It installed and let me name my class but it won't let me select a class so I can add the names.

I love Rick and I agree with most of his ideas, however I have installed and Uninstaller this app several times in an attempt to reboot it, but I'm unable to do anything. I cannot even select the class. In other words, it's non functioning on my note 5.

In fairness, I later noticed that importing class lists doesn't work but then why didn't installation instructions reflect this? So, following the directions, I tried to upload my class list. Unable, I had my software developer husband try. After a frustrating half hour, he gave up. I managed to manually input my class list, and only realized that bug hadn't been fixed when I came to write this update. I have not yet put the app to the test in class. However, at this point, if I still had the 15 minute return option, I would have taken it rather than fool with trying to understand the "Droid" instructions which didn't reflect the state of the software. When you are asking $5 from a teacher, it should have easy-to-understand user instructions that are correct.

I actually love this app but it seems from other reviews that they aren't updating it. It won't work in my Samsung s5 at all. Reinstalled it twice.

It does what it says if u enter students names but don't use email just enter them manually. It is better than all similar apps like this so don't complicate life. Just use the app and enter the scores Life is good :-)

The classes screen is supposed to have a songs button on the bottom tray. (Galaxy S4). This is missing. The random, select, and scores buttons are present instead. Please fix this! I used to love this app on my old ipad.

Does not work on current OS. I wish I read the comments before purchasing. I have used it before on iOS and it was adequate. But does not work on droid. EDIT: I contacted developer. For what it's worth, he responded and intends to have problem fixed. No ETA. Still wish I knew google gave 15 minutes for a refund...
