This app allows you to use your Samsung Gear VR headset with Google Cardboard apps. The app disables the Gear VR service so plugging your phone into the headset doesn't trigger Gear VR to start.
Simply click on the app, connect a USB/Bluetooth controller or get a magnet, start up whatever Cardboard app you wish, and plug your phone into the headset.
Clicking on the app toggles whether the phone is in Cardboard usage mode or Gear VR mode. Once activated, a notification appears on the notification bar. You can tap on the notification for the following:
- set notification as persistent or swipeable
- enable/disable Cardboard functionality
- click on "About" for version info, link to Tasker app (used to create this), and to send me a support request/question/suggestion/compliment/etc.
The current version of the app requires a magnet (use on left side headset near phone) or controller to function as the trigger. I will try to map the trigger function to the Gear VR touchpad in a later version.
This is my FIRST app so if it goes all fubar on you, please be patient and send me a message about the issue with details on what's going on.
Thanks and enjoy!
Obviously requires root, which isn't ideal for everyone, but this makes the process so quick. Good job!
Is it not possible to make this without requiring root?
