This is a great app, and the sensor is fantastic, but the latest update got somethings wrong (and others right). The session PIQ score is definitely a lot more correct that it was in terms of spin. The individual breakdown of forehands and backhands don't match the PIQ score in terms of spin and speed. The overall PIQ score speed factor is very far off. The average speed score is correct, but the speed (mph) is extremely far off. eg 2104 speed should not be 39mph, when 2055 is 45mph. Things to fix: a. Individual Forehand and backhands from a session should be corrected. b. Overall PIQ score speeds should be corrected.
Overall the app is great but recently it has displayed wrong data which has not been fixed yet. Firstly in my dashboard graph the month of September appears twice. I have reported this to the developers weeks ago but it has not been fixed in the last update. Secondly the latest update now shows a wrong average speed on the piq score. The displayed score is about half of what I can see as average speed in the activities. Also as many people point out the sensor does not correctly detect spin.
Owning the Babolat Pop has certainly encouraged me to play more tennis and it is instrumental in helping me analyze my technique which is helping improve my game every day.
Want to add that support services are great. They respond quickly to issues and are very helpful.
The Pop has trouble distinguishing between serves and smashes, but otherwise seems fine. The app however rapidly descends in to becoming nothing more than a gimmick sadly. You can hit 1000 shots in a session and all you get is a summary of shot totals, average / peak of wrist speed & PIQ score. Want to itemise your best shot? Not possible. Your worst shot? Think again. Want to be able to compare previous sessions of the basic summary that you DO get? No... use pen and paper. Disappointingly basic.
I have a problem with false display of data in the dashboard. I would like to send a screenshot of it to the programmers. How would I do this?
Love using it to track my game but I wish you could view the piq score breakdown for each individual session so you can compare your overall power, spin, and style. I think that would help a lot.
It's not bad. Give pretty basic info forehands, backhands, serves etc. Not sure how accurate it is but can be a useful way to compare games
Opens your eyes to see what you are hitting in terms of swing speed and spin. Consistent in the measurements and really forces you to swing high-low-high to register topspin swings
Love traking different aspects of my game.
Eveytime you hit a backhand shot with topspin it registers it as flat. Although it does a great job with slice shots and forehands. It can be a great gadget to improve your tennis skill. I will still give it 5 stars because of the user friendly interface and community scoring.
Very useful, it's help you to improve your game and tracking your progress... Easy to use and friendly. Cons: It may not be accurate with speed and shots (topspin, flats)...but it's really a good tool for fun.
A good way to know more about your game and improve your strategy to defeat your harder opponents
Motivates you to get out and play. Great to track the differences in your game between matches and practice and really provides insight into what's happening on good vs bad days.
Very useful App which helps to analyze my game and improve systematically. It also gives our position in the community based on our activity.Would recommend for every Tennis player.
Been using the app for several months and it works as advertised. Has good features and only occasionally won't register a session.
Like the app a lot, some approximations but that was expected (flat Vs topspin).
Simple yet effective device for tennis players looking to have feedback on their core skills + solid app!
It's good for tracking your progress.
Love My Pop!!
1) Pop records lots of FLat forehands (like 70% flat 30% topspin for me) which I guess is incorrect somehow. When I used these other sensors the results were more (like 70% topspin 30% flat for me) , so the algo is not detecting topspin forehands correctly or is too stringent. 2) It should detect 2nd serves & break down serves in 1st & 2nd. (Play does that) 3) For the same wrist speed, different rackets will hit balls by different power so it should take into consideration the racket used in configuration
Great app! The only thing wrong is that the app doesn't capture correct speed on one hand backhand. Also most of the backhand strokes are counted as flat instead of topspin. I think it has something to do with the speed
I like this app. Easy to use. But I think it can be better if it can give an "estimated" ball speed for forehand, backhand and serves based on the racket speed. Also it will be great if we can record videos and analyze it side by side with the strokes that was performed during the video. Another thing missing is the sweet spot locator. That will give players like me an idea of where I'm hitting the ball.
Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I would like to see more info on shots, and also shot by shot breakdown.
Always wrong indication, a poor gadget, not precise
It"s actually making me be more aware of my game.
Quality data that is fun and motivating you to go out and play more
Love it, it is helping me to improve my game.
Don't really want to type anything
The app used to work fine, but the latest update causes it to hang when I run it. Please fix it.
Latest version hangs on startup get your qa process in place
I have tested it a couple times and it has about 90% accuracy. But as a comparison of your own progress it is quite good. The community and challenges are hyped, but seem kind of pointless. Love the calendar. And the data is good, but would be better if it could be disagregated and studied that way instead of just snapshots of averages and bests. But a cool toy. And Babalot does seem to be supporting it well.
First of all, in the last week I've noticed that there are some problems with the " Ranking System" I was like n.200 and now I'm n.17600... Then I would like to know the average Piq score of my service, forehand and backhand because it would be a lot better to distinguish all of them to have more stats. Thank you
I love to look back and see my stats after a match or lesson, or fun with friends. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I like to compare my own starts against previous days. So cool!
Considering the alternatives, it is probably the best option out there. I have seen Babolat Play and Zepp in action; this is at most half the price and almost as good. Can't comment on the Sony sensor, never seen one or met anybody who has one. It is very interesting seeing the breakdown of your shots and the topspin generated and it is always less than what you thought you were producing. For that alone you could give it a 5 star rating. It could be improved and I hope it will...
Sometimes it says a hit a serve or a volley that I didn't, but it's pretty accurate. I'm sure the algorithm is constantly improving
For exercise with your old racquet, perfect. Simple to use and have challenge mode to see serve speed, backhand/forehand.
Not syncing properly, terrible customer support.
