Pyeniny – audio guide to Pieniny mountains

Let's go on an unusual journey to one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Central Europe with Pyeniny app – a unique audio tour. Just as you would hire a guide to make your journey more interesting, you can now use Pyeniny to enhance your enjoyment at the park. The app consists of 25 chapters – over an hour of listening material – that presents over 50 historical facts and over 30 highlanders' legends, myths and beliefs.

MULTIMEDIA EXPERIENCE
You can listen to all these stories exactly where they took place thanks to GPS technology. Pyeniny app gives you multimedia experience in which the surroundings, the sounds of the forest and the mountain views enhance your immersion in the story.

HOW DOES IT WORK
During the hike, the app notifies you of the available chapter. The hand-drawn map, which is the main visual element, helps in the orientation of the recordings. Not to compete with mountain views Pyeniny does not contain any photos or illustrations. After all, no one goes to the mountains to stare at the phone screen.

REMARKABLE STORY
The ghost of Pieniny tells the story which will guide you through centuries. The storyteller reveals the location of the sacred Slavonic mountain. He recalls the legendary King of Pieniny and the unfortunate fate of his children. Describes the miraculous escape of Saint Kinga of Poland from the Tatar horde to the Pieniny Castle. He talks about the romantic escapades of the Szczawnica health resort visitors, but also about the hard life of the highlanders. His stories are like Pieniny themselves – everyday life blends with magic, facts with legends.

ON THE MOUNTAIN TRAILS
The guide covers four tourist trails in the part called Pieniny Właściwe:
1. Dunajec River Gorge: Szczawnica – Red Monastery (red trail)
2. Sromowiecka Route: Krościenko – Sromowce Niżne (yellow trail)
3. Tops of Pieniny: Sokolica – Góra Zamkowa – Trzy Korony (blue trail)
4. Szczawnicka Route: Krościenko – Sosnów Pass (green trail)

CREDITS
British voice actor Roman Picheta and Polish actor Krzysztof Radkowski lent their voices to the mysterious narrator. The mood is enhanced by the soundtrack dominated by pipes and violin. The score was written and performed by Slovakian composer Petr Adamov and the violin part by James Evans.
The authors of the Pyeniny app are Mateusz Słowakiewicz and Paweł Ratajczyk – the multimedia designers duo Potvory. Pyeniny was realised thanks to the support from International Visegrad Fund and in cooperation with Czech NGO "REPT" and Slovak digital cartography expert – Jakub Straka.
