How to use the heart rate monitor free app to measure your heartbeat?

To use this heartbeat counter, just put your finger on the phone's camera and stay still, the heart rate is shown after few seconds. Covering a part of flash may help heartbeat counter to become even more accurate.

What is a normal heart rate or heartbeat?

According to Mayo Clinic, a normal resting heart beat rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute (BPM). However, keep in mind that many factors can influence the heart rate, including Activity level, Fitness level, Body size, Emotion, etc. Generally, a lower heartbeat at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness.

Consult your doctor if your resting heartbeat is consistently above 100 beats per minute or if you're not a trained athlete and your resting heartbeat is below 60 beats a minute

What are heart rate training zones?

Heart rate training zones are calculated using maximum heart Rate (MaxHR). Within each training zone, subtle physiological effects take place to enhance your fitness. We have a similar definition to those used in Fitbit trackers:

- REST ZONE (up to 50% HRmax): This considers as resting zone.

- FAT BURN ZONE (50 to 70% of maximum): Recovery and warming up exercises should be completed in this zone. It’s called the fat burn zone because a higher percentage of calories are burnt from fat.

- CARDIO ZONE (70% to 85% of HRmax): Most of the main exercise should be completed in this zone.

- PEAK ZONE (greater than 85% of HRmax): This zone is ideal for short intense sessions (high-intensity interval training HIIT) to improve performance and speed.

This heart rate monitor app calculates and automatically saves your heart rate training zones.

NOTES

- Heart rate monitor app should not be used as a medical device.
- In some devices, heart rate monitor may make the LED flash very hot.

Great app. Measurement matched the one in the doctors office. I wish there was more customization in history. I.e. you could see further back or separate stats by tags. That would be fantastic. It would also be nice if you could buy a 0.99 cent adless pro version. So yeah, stats and ads are my only qualms. Great simple design.

D70%
by D####:

Love the minimalistic design. It would have been nice if while tagging the measurement the existing tags showed up instead of us having to type them out each time. Also I want to be able to control across what span I look at history. Right now we can only do weeks and months. It would be nice if we could customise it. Great app!

Everybody saying it's accurate and if they say it is then I believe it. I worry about my heart rate at times and I wasn't sure if it was accurate until I read a bunch of positive reviews. I just didn't know my camera and Flash could detect my heartbeat somehow. I don't know about that technology and how it works but it sure is great and I definitely recommend it to anybody! And the ads are very non intrusive...impressive ????.

I downloaded this app because I really need to keep track of my heart rate. Had some recent health scares. I couldn't even get it to measure my bpm's once. I tried many times. Exactly as it said. Stayed very still. Nothing. If anyone can help, I will change my review & redownload. My phone is a Galaxy Note, less than a year old, so it is not my phone for sure.

I like this app. You can set the amount of time you want it to read your pulse for. Sometimes the readings seem a bit iffy, but I'm not using it for empirical data or anything. Sometimes when you open the app it doesn't go automatically to a new reading. If you go to the menu, and back to 'measure' it starts up though. 4 stars.

I've tried so many of these app and many of them are riddled with ads. This one only has a tiny non-intrusive ad at the bottom. And the app works very well and it's beautifully designed. It gets to job done. So stop right here and look no further.

by D####:

When it works its great but for some reason that's only half the time. The light keeps going off meaning I can't get a reading. I do running and occasionally stop to check if I'm in the training zone and it's so frustrating when it doesn't work!

A70%
by A####:

Pretty accurate. It checked in well within the margin of error. It was within about 3 BPM on both my pulse oximeter and my blood pressure machine. And of course heart rate normally varies a little anyway so it's quite likely spot on! Nice to have in case I'm feeling funny and not where I can take a measurement with my pulse ox or bp machine. If it reads abnormal for me, unexpected, or matches my symptoms if a slow or faster than typical heart rate, I can go to my pulse ox and BP machine to confirm, and go to the Dr if need be.

D70%
by D####:

This is the quickest and easiest to use heart rate detector I have ever used. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that it requires placing your finger directly on the main camera lens which seems to pose a potential problem with impacting images.

D70%
by D####:

Simple easy to use app. But 1 large downfall it burn and hurts like hell. I have the Huawei P10 and when I hold my finger over the light and camra it gets extremely hot and burns my finger and as soon as u try pull your finger away from the pain u lose ur reading and have to subdue to the pain ones more to just know your heart rate.

D70%
by D####:

Tends to heat up my light/camera to an uncomfortable temperature, so taking more than one measurement in a short span of time is impractical. Would like to be able to save and store the waveform image as well as the pulse value. Otherwise, a great app that works well and does what it advertises! :)

I70%
by I####:

When it works, it's great! I still haven't figured out what causes the difference, so for me it's still a coin toss each time! Annoying in P.E., where the lack of a heartrate reading means I have to keep running.

Previously ditched a paid Azumio HRM for this one, which came without ads and a nice clean design; now, a "bug fix" has brought them in, which is sad. Could you offer a Pro version please?

T70%
by T####:

It's actually pretty good. I have a new phone, the Galaxy s8. and this app gets my heart rate with a max difference of about 5. The only thing is that you can burn your fingers off with the flashlight

D70%
by D####:

Does what it says on the tin, but it seems my Huawei P9 has a very powerful flashlight because it hurts to cover it with my finger. It would be nice if there was a button to turn off the light when not yet ready to measure so the light wouldn't be hot before I even put my finger over.

E70%
by E####:

The key point is the reliability of reading.... I checked the readings with pulse oxy meter and blood pressure monitor... The readings are a close match.... It was a nightmare on my Samsung with errors all the time... This app is very user friendly and accurate... Keep it up folks...

D70%
by D####:

Nice app, but it burns A TON of battery juice doing something which is pretty trivial. There are much simpler, energy-efficient ways of checking your heart rate. But if you're a hipster who's too lazy to check your own pulse by hand, then yeah, this app is for you.

N70%
by N####:

The app works as intended and I don't see any faults with it. My heart rate might be alarmingly high? I can't tell. My camera lens broke too so that might be causing weird measurements.

D70%
by D####:

I use this app to self-monitor my POTS - a health condition where your heart rate rapidly increases upon standing, leading to dizziness, fainting and other problems. Having a way to quickly measure my heart rate whenever needed, as well as having it all on my phone, is a life saver!

X70%

Good heart rate app with dark design. It doesn't really have any options--it measures on startup and always uses rear camera with light--but it measures consistently, isn't filled with ads, and syncs with Google Fit.

D70%
by D####:

All I wanted was a heart rate monitor since taking my pulse is difficult because my pulse is so weak. If you're looking for your basic heart monitor app, this one is the one!

K70%
by K####:

Got because medicine gave me heart palpitations and an irregular fast heartbeat. Used it alongside an ekg and it was only off by like 2 bpm. For what it is (an app on a smartphone that uses the camera, to put things in perspective) it is EERILY accurate. Idk how it's done, does the flash let the camera see through your finger? I'm perplexed. Didn't think a phone could do this.

D70%
by D####:

This app is fantastic! I block my phone demon's porthole view of the outside world with my finger and it displays the rate at which it is draining my soul. The demon is least hungry in the morning. I've found.

D70%
by D####:

This seems pretty good at low to moderate heart rates – I compared it with my brother's wrist monitor while standing and talking and the measurements were 2 beats apart. But when trying to measure right after an intense workout, when your heart rate might be ~170, it seems to detect the beats rather erratically. Does it run the camera @60fps when available, or only @30fps? At such a heart rate, monitoring at 60fps would provide around 10 key frames per cycle instead of just 5.

I was recently diagnosed with Supraventricular Tachycardia after suffering 187-226 bpm for 2 hours. This app makes monitoring my heart rate very easy! Also keeps track so I can share with my dr. ❤

WARNING! This app can cause BURNS! I nearly burned my finger with my LG G6's flash. The flash gets extremely hot quickly and causes lots of pain. I I wouldn't recommend this at all

D70%
by D####:

Well, I don't really expect a cellphone app to be accurate, which is why this gets 2 stars instead of 1. It keeps saying my heart rate is sub 60 bpm. Considering that I weigh about 200 lbs (and don't exercise) and those heart rates are typically found in athletes, I seriously, seriously doubt those results. Though it does spike to 136 after doing some jumping jacks, which I guess makes sense. So...I don't know.

B70%

Just got out of the hospital and the readings were within one or two BPM but most of the time it was dead on (ok poor choice of words). Very accurate and easy to use!

D70%

This app is actually useless on the LG G6 because the led gets so hot it burns my finger before it can finish measuring my heart rate... Worked fine when I had the G4 though.

D70%

Not accurate works on things without a pule. I'm bracycardic my heart rates never climbs above 50 odd how I'm always 96

D70%
by D####:

Completly inaccurate, i took my actual pulse and it was 72 bpm. It's 1 am, I'm sitting quietly in a sofa love seat. This idiot apps first reading was at 90. So I then decided to speed my heart rate up. Having my fiance take my pulse I got it to 146, this idiot app again was way off with a reading of 117. Just a silly gimmick that's broken. It has one function and it can't even do that correctly. Don't waste your time or money.

D70%
by D####:

This app is only accurate when you are at rest it can't measure your heart rate accurately when you excercise i bought a heart rate minitor wrist watch for workout it gives a very different result to this app for example when i stand up and walk to get something this app would immediately increase heart rate ex. from 70bpm it would jump to 90-100bpm while at wrist watch hr would increase little to nothing at all when you are just doing small physical activity

This is the first app I got true.Realey This app work accurate because I use this app heart beat and seperately checks heart beat every time I got it true. THANKS Developer This really might help high blood pressure and low, guys.thanks again.

My uncle is a Doctor, and his measurements with professional tools are always within 3 beats more or less of what this app shows you. Very accurate, useful, and really helpful overall. Would rate higher if I could.

Very accurate, easy to use and No ads or pop up. I have POTS, dysautonomia, and EDS so I monitor HR. After 2 fitbit charge HR's failing /breaking in 18mo I'm not buying another. This is my replacement for now.

I'M AMAZED! I thought it was just another silly app but it does the job. I used a timer to count my heartbeat and this app counts accurately. UPDATE: I used this app and my Omron electronic blood pressure & heart rate monitor at the same time and the result is the same.

D70%
by D####:

Horrible app.. just doesn't work. Wanted to find my hr after exercise but doesn't work. Even after my hr coming to normal it just blinks

D70%
by D####:

The app has a good history and stats function and works very well. It doesn't need any permissions except the camera (logically), and it always works for me.

D70%
by D####:

When it works it is very good. But every so often it refuses. Using menu then Measure does not reset. So when I check it after meditation I usually find I am not able to measure it.

D70%
by D####:

New intrusive ads that occasionally stop the app from functioning. Give an option for a pro version without ads and I'll change my review
