The magazine section has the annoying problem of having a blank screen between screen Scrolls and cutting through text lines before and after This has been reported by others very recently Also results in some of the article being lost at the end due to the blank screen problem This only occurs with the magazine section and does not occur with the very same article that is in the daily section This will be a big factor as to whether I renew my Maclean's subscription

M70%
by M####:

Good to see the offline reading feature working. I'm happy with the app.

M70%
by M####:

The page breaks cut thru the middle of the text lines, leaving a blank page in between pages. Reading should be an enjoyable, not annoying experience. The problem has been existed for a long time, many users reported it, it has not been fixed. It is beyond unbelievable!

This app is garbage -OFFLINE READING DOES NOT WORK:Since update in July 2016, offline reading function doesn't work. It took several enquirers and over a month to finally get confirmation from Maclean's that they have removed the offline reading option from the app. I have canceled my subscription. App before the update was very good.

This app has improved a lot and I actually enjoy reading the magazine on my phone. However there still is lot of room for improvement: - The download option is useless, since in order to read the downloaded issue I still need to be connected to the internet. - Although the Help file talks about a font size option, I don't see any. - On my tablet (Nexus 7), this app is ridiculous. The text is limited to a narrow vertical band in the centre of the screen, and the font is actually smaller than on my phone, although the screen is a lot bigger. Come on, Maclean's, you need to make this app better if you want your move to digital-only to succeed!

M70%
by M####:

Content is optimized well for the mobile experience. However, the scrolling issue is ridiculous. You can't have a reading experience that cuts lines off and forces you to read from top of screen to the bottom. Please fix this issue. EDIT: it looks like the scrolling issue might be only on Android 6

The app is quite good except for a problem that started on my Android phone 3-4 months ago. Large sections of empty white space appearing in articles, which sometimes cut off the end of the articles. I have emailed the app for help, but nothing yet.

C70%
by C####:

Downloads OK but after reading articles offline after about 10 minutes it locks the articles in all downloaded issues. Then it wants them to be purchased. I am a subscriber. Requires a onlinereset. Still the issues are checked as downloadrd?.? Very frutrating.

Useless! Find someone to make it right. NOW! From the comments here I see that management has been failing badly at Yr transition to the Web for some time. Time for new mngmnt.

G70%

Pro: the single column per article format means no more fighting for screen position (re: Kobo). Con: online subscription check at startup means I can't read when offline.

M70%
by M####:

Terrible app. Maclean's has a terrible digital experience generally. I can log into the app on my iPhone but my android tablet keeps telling me my user name isn't valid. Ridiculous and very frustrating. Rogers Media phone help was no help at all.

M70%
by M####:

This app works horribly. There's is a page break that appears mid paragraph and cuts off the following text. In addition, not all the article's content can be viewed. Waste of time.

H70%
by H####:

Had to cancel because of terrible app.

M70%
by M####:

I already have a subscription to Maclean's through Google Play Newsstand. There should be a way to link this so I can read it in this app. But, being a lowly Android subscriber, I don't get a subscriber number, thus I can't. Plus I paid for a full year and am now being given only 1 issue a month instead of 4.

G70%
by G####:

I'll just echo what everyone else says. The page breaks are ridiculous. Lines are cut off in the most inconvenient locations. Articles are also incomplete, which may be related to the above. Fix it! I used to read the print version exclusively, but they've forced me to read digital, since they've cut back to 1 a month. I'll probably cancel, because the digital experience is so disappointing.

Y70%
by Y####:

The reading experience is quite poor. Scrolling through an article shouldn't generate blank gaps.

G70%
by G####:

Off line reading doesn't work, major flaw.

K70%
by K####:

The split page while scrolling is not splitting in logical places. Makes reading articles extremely difficult. You need to get your App gurus on this issue as soon as possible. I will drop my subscription if it's not more easy and enjoyable to read. Shame, shame, huge Corp and can't make a decent app.

Huge sections of every article are completely blank on Galaxy S5. Totally unless. How does this get released?

D70%
by D####:

Crashes whenever I try to view content on my nexus 7 tablet 2013. Update: with latest update, the app crashes on open, without giving a chance of seeing content. Update: resetting my account seems to have corrected the problem.

D70%
by D####:

The splitting up of the magazine pages while scrolling is a terrible idea. Makes it difficult to read.

D70%
by D####:

Only half page gets downloaded on my Nexus phone. No setting options.

D70%
by D####:

The magazine articles scroll in discreet pages rather than continuously (think Flipbook). The problem is that lines of text are split in half between the bottom one page and the top of the subsequent page. Also sometimes have problems with articles only partially downloading

D70%
by D####:

The new version does not work in my Samsung tablet - it says this device is not supported. In my Nexus 5 phone it is buggy; it breaks pages with long blank areas. Makes impossible to read the Magazine.

D70%
by D####:

I have a nexus 7. There are several articles where I can't scroll down. I have contacted them and all I get is a link to their FAQ. I am glad I also get the print edition, but when my subscription runs out I think that I will pass.

D70%
by D####:

Doesn't allow portrait viewing, only landscape, but forces portrait view for photos.

Logging onto this app is ridiculous.

C70%

When the Android app for Macleans magazine was updated earlier in 2015 it effectively prevented digital subscribers from opening their magazines UNLESS they had a device that ran Android Version 4.4 or better. I think this was a disgraceful act that forces subscribers to buy a new Android tablet.

This new version has a tonne of problems and bugs. Hard to even use

D70%

Really impressed and happy with this app leading up to the election. Great job! I wish I gave this app 5 stars before the update. Im looking to be able to download a whole edition at once and read offline. I dont want videos. Im looking for more nationally focused articles per issue. I feel like there used to be more. Unfortunately looking for another Canadian news app now.

T70%
by T####:

The app looks like it was designed following Windows 98 aesthetic guidelines. It wouldn't even let me log into my own account. Hardly believable this app is made by today's technology and media company.

D70%
by D####:

Before the latest update (1.0.14 2015.6) reading the digital Maclean's magazine had really hit a sweet spot, mixing a well-designed layout with content that takes advantage of the device. Now, the magazine is just one element submerged in a variety of Maclean's noise: daily, videos, voices. You can't download the entire issue at once, but have to download each segment. Great if you're always connected, but not so good for offline reading. Much less likely to use this app in the future. If I wanted an online experience I'd use the website.

D70%
by D####:

I do not always have access to the Internet at the locations I wish to read the magazine. The previous version worked well as the full magazine could be downloaded for off line use. This version is of much less use to me.

Hurray! After what feels like waiting nearly a decade for this app to hit android ....finally the good folks at Macleans decided to give us small group if misfits who use the andriod OS a chance to view the magazine on our tablets...it's not just an exclusive IPad edition anymore....again I am just wowed at how long it took for these buffoons to realize that not everyone's world revolves around apple products...oh and ya it's actually a good app.

V70%
by V####:

The app itself is great. But please, Roger's/Macleans: CLARIFY that the magazine subscription number is not the entire number sequence on the magazine. I had to log in using my address to finally figure out what my real subscription number was... There are several extra numbers in the sequence on my magazine, and your tutorial about finding the subscription number fails to mention that at all! Terrible oversight on your part. Great app once I finally figured that out, but please clarify.

On iOS, I see the new Bulldog election issues promptly and reliably. On Android, I missed the 9/11 issue outright and don't see the 9/16 issue iOS has already downloaded. Plus, for no good reason, when I scroll while reading, I often zoom in by mistake, which is NEVER what I want. Needs some work!

J70%

Wow...for such a good magazine this app is horrible...I have read alot of reviews...Can't sign in...is common throughout...

D70%
by D####:

I have a subscription with Macleans magazine already, but the app will not let me sign in, no matter what combination of information I try

N70%
by N####:

Could some one tell me where the sign in is in this app. ...no where to be found. Subscription doesn't work in kobo was told to download app and sign in...yet their is no sign in once you enter the app?
