Helping preschool children learn emotional intelligence the fun way!

What do you get excited about? How does it feel when you’re sad? The colourful world of Roundies teaches children important emotional skills in a creative and entertaining way.

Finland is famous for its high pedagogical standards and the Roundies stories are pedagogically designed to support the educational, social and emotional development of preschool children. The positive psychology behind the books helps children recognise their personal strengths while making sense of emotional responses. The stories explore many different themes including self-esteem, building positive relationships, dealing with disappointment and encouraging children to try and try again! The Roundies stories are fun yet reassuring, and kids love them!

One of the unique features of Roundies is the 'emotion cloud' concept. The clouds appear throughout the book, prompting children to think about their emotions with questions inspired by the story but that also draw on a child’s everyday life and emotional experiences. This encourages active rather than passive entertainment and supports studies showing interactive learning is the most effective. The emotion cloud is a helpful tool for children who are learning how to manage their own emotions and relationships, and gives parents and children an opportunity for conversation that will help them to explore emotional development together.

Roundies live in Sunny Cloud, where every day is a new adventure. The Roundies are friendly animal characters with round bodies and very different personalities! The Roundies experience all sorts of different feelings in Sunny Cloud, a place where every emotion is explored in a fun and entertaining way!

The Roundies concept has been developed in conjunction with pedagogical experts. As well as books, an animation series, mobile games and apps are currently in development. All product are tested with children under the guidance of the Playful Learning Center of the University of Helsinki.
