Никола́й Чудотво́рец — святой в исторических церквях, архиепископ Мир Ликийских (Византия). В христианстве почитается как чудотворец, считается покровителем моряков, купцов и детей.
Святитель Николай родился в Малой Азии. С детских лет Николай преуспевал в изучении Божественного Писания; днем он не выходил из храма, а ночью молился и читал книги, созидая в себе достойное жилище Святого Духа. Дядя его, епископ Николай Патарский, поставил его во чтеца, а затем возвел Николая в сан священника, сделав его своим помощником и поручив ему говорить поучения пастве.
Когда его родители умерли, святитель Николай унаследовал их состояние, однако он отдал его на нужды благотворительности.
Епископство Николая в Мире послужило развитием христианских общин.
Святитель Николай совершил много великих чудес. Он помогал людям в беде, спасал от потопления и выносил на сушу из глубины морской, освобождал из плена и приносил освобожденных домой, избавлял от уз и темницы, защищал от удара мечом, освобождал от смерти и исцелял от слепоты, глухоты, немоты и хромоты.
Он помогал бедствующим и нищим, подавал голодным пищу и всем являлся помощником во всякой беде, теплым заступником и защитником.
И ныне он также помогает призывающим его и избавляет их от бед. Чудес его исчислить невозможно точно так же, как невозможно описать из всех подробно. Этого великого чудотворца знает восток и запад, и во всех концах земли известны его чудотворения
