Issues with step counting fixed. Fun story to make walks interesting.

So the game is fun and exciting. Im definitely walking more then before because i find the story interesting, compelling and want to continue it. I find tracking fairly good(personally never had more then a few mintues discrepancy). My main issues are chapter 30 is a flop (entering makes game crash ALWAYS) if you can even get it started to continue, chapters 41 and 42 are ideal (map and audio).

O70%
by O####:

Not sure what's happening but the app no longer consistently records steps and locks up or stops counting. The only solution is to restart missions or reinstall, both of which reset progress. I previously lost all progress when moving app from main memory to SD card, which was on me, but now I can't play it any more sadly. Uninstalling until it's hopefully fixed.

I enjoy the game, but can't give such a buggy product a good review. It doesn't seem as if there is any real motivation to fix issues that have been known about for more than a year. The story is compelling, when I can get it to work.

Purchased August 2016 The Good: Engaging storytelling, great voice acting, interesting gameplay. The Bad: The sole mechanic of this game is minutes spent walking, and The Walk is terrible at keeping track of this. I bought this as a game to use around campus, and as a grad student, the reward of a story for spending more time walking is nice. However, as a grad student, I need my hands free for all of the teaching materials and whatnot I'm bringing to campus every day. But the only way this app works is if I'm holding it in a specific orientation, not in bags or purses or pockets, as promised. The Walk will count 50% or less of my activity when not carried in hand. Google Fit, however, tracks all activity well. I contacted customer service at Six to Start, and although I had prompt replies from the representative, they really offered nothing of use. If/When this app syncs correctly with Google Fit or tracks minutes of activity correctly, this rating will become a five-star rating.

Besides the crashing bug on episode 30 and episode 41 not giving me the right game map this app is great! I've just finished and the story is fantastic and I really really hope there is going to be another one because you can't leave it hanging like that!

Very disappointed. Downloaded this due to reviews and wanted something to motivate me into walking daily. My first attempt found the story playing then it stopped and kept repeating chapters in the 1st episode on a loop. I am not impressed at all. I am about to attempt episode 1 again today but if it occurs again I simply wish for a full refund. Update. I tried episode 2. I could hear no story at all. Went back 2 episode 1 and the burn kept playing on a loop. This app is utter rubbish and I want a full refund. I am SO DISAPPOINTED.

Hard to enjoy when it still refers to Boris as mayor of London. Worse that it often stops tracking you and you don't get credit for all your walking.

C70%

Engaging storyline; definitely encourages me to walk more. Having some issues with a few episodes from Episode 30 on, but support has been prompt to respond. I hope those few bugs are ironed out soon in an update.

I do NOT recommend purchasing this app. Can't get app to run. It says my phone's memory is full. That is a lie. Plenty of room and I uninstalled seven other apps to make even more room. Regret spending money on this. Apparently it Only works on high priced fancy phones with tons of free storage.

C70%
by C####:

I found this app really good until it stopped working at Level 30. It just says "Unfortunately the walk has stopped", have sent many reports but no change. Would like my money back!!

worse walk app ever! I'm deleting this app now. So boring I want my money back. Do not waste your money

I was really enjoying this game, but for some reason now that I have reached episode 30 it keeps crashing and won't let me open the episode. 5 stars when I can play again.

It's a fun idea from the amazing people behind Zombies, Run. The story seems like it would be interesting, but it's a chore to get through (and not for the reason it's supposed to be a chore). I'm on my 2nd (EDIT: now 3rd) attempt to get through the story (1 new phone and 1 reinstall after tracking update) and, unlike Zombies, Run, there's no syncing between devices,. There's not even a way to manually back up progress to a new device. This would be forgivable if Six to Start hadn't already shown how well they can handle syncing with Zombies, Run. UPDATE after the below reply from Six to Start: Tracking is far more accurate now than it was before, tracking 34 minutes of a 36 minute walk. Good enough for me. What happens far more often now, is that the app now tracks pretty well, or not at all. I've had two different instances this week where I walked a mile and a half in 36 minutes and the app logged zero minutes with zero steps taken. On the most recent instance, I completely killed the app, restarted it, and selected my mission just before I headed out the door to make sure it hadn't just locked up while idle. I REALLY want to like this app. It's just not reliable.

N70%
by N####:

I like getting to hear a story as I move about my day but it's not very accurate because it only goes by the phone and won't attach to Fitness Hardware that counts my actual steps. I also find it super annoying that it constantly makes me push back to get to the screen I want to be. It's not necessary and could have been designed a little better to be more user-friendly

Do not expect to finish the game. I was initially hesitant to purchase The Walk because several reviews mentioned a glitch after a certain level. I contacted the developers and they assured me there was a way around that error. Encouraged, I bought the app and began my walking. I enjoyed the story and the game play, but less than 1/4 of the way through the game (before reaching the glitch I had asked them about) the app has stopped working. I contacted support and walked through every instruction they provided, but to no avail. My only option is to reinstall the app and start my progress over. I would recommend keeping this in mind before purchasing. The support is kind and timely, but they do not seem to have control over updating the app any longer.

I'm having trouble starting chapter 30, it crashes every time I hit play on chapter selection. I submitted a report through the error notifaction that popped up but don't know if that goes through you. Update: Reinstalled, walked 1-29 again...still crashing. I'm on a Note 5. Is there a process to submit errors/issues to you?

C70%
by C####:

This is my second time playing this app, and I've just gotta say I really really enjoy it! It gets me outside and moving, which is the most important part. The story is super cool, and I love the characters! It can be a little buggy at times, but support is nothing but lovely and will do their best to help out! Thanks, Six to Start, for another great game and experience :)

I've finished episode 5 but the stupid game won't let me get past that episode to start level 6. Was really enjoying it up to this point.

C70%
by C####:

I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling, hopefully won't lose my progress. Crashing every time I navigate to a certain chapter - something in the late 20's. Very simple game, but exactly what I was looking for: Something to add tiny little goals to my walking daily. UPDATE: I did lose my progress, so that crash means I'll have to start over. UPDATE: got to chapter 30 again, still crashes even after uninstalling and reinstalling. Removed another star. Can't recommend the game when I can't finish it. UPDATE: Support was helpful & kind, able to provide a work around ... that was literally painful for me due to the need for a quick reaction on loading, which was hard on my chronic-pain ridden arms. No fix months later. Game would be 5-star without bugs.

C70%
by C####:

I was really enjoying the app and had managed to increase my walking time but it failed at episode 30. If that hadn't happened I would give top marks for a well executed storyline and concept. Please try and fix it

C70%
by C####:

Solid premise and riveting story let down by a couple of major bugs. Customer support says they'll be patched, but it's been six months now and no patch appears forthcoming. Recommended with caveats. Not for completionists.

B70%
by B####:

Loved ZR and SHW and would like to play this too. Sadly the lack of music between story tracks makes for dull walking and I have no interest in completing episodes.

C70%
by C####:

I love the storyline and the characters. Help though! I'm at level 30 and the game has been crashing. It won't open up level 30...

C70%
by C####:

Love love love it. I've only done Episode 1 so far, and looking forward to all the rest of the game! Update: Winter has seriously cramped my walking, so I'm only finally hitting episode 30. (To folks ragequitting when the app crashes, LMGTFY: open the episode, hit start, and just start walking when it says it crashed. Don't re-open and hit continue, just walk the 81 minutes to get through the episode.) I still love it. It's a great balance between being able to enjoy the silence of a walk with occasional bursts of story. Looking forward to spring to start hitting the trails more seriously again, and finding out what happens next. Already planning to get Zombies, Run! as a walking companion when this story ends - more walking-specific story would be nice, but if there's not the market for it, there's not the market for it.

C70%
by C####:

You can now use Google fit to track steps and it is much better (incredibly accurate when compared with my wearable tracker) I would recommend, the story is interesting and makes you want to find out what happens, get your walking shoes at the ready!

C70%
by C####:

Hey guys am rating 3 stars because I am on episode 6 and the app has suddenly stopped tracking my steps. Spent all day walking and it only registered a minute.

C70%
by C####:

I hope I'm doing something wrong because I want to like the game. It seems like I have to stop and push a button for it to start playing again which interferes with my workout. How can you make it continuously play until you stop moving?

S70%
by S####:

The story is marvelous, as to be expected from six to start. Would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the bugged achievements that don't register even though I've earned them and the lack of backup which means I have to start over and replay over 30 chapters again when something breaks.

Edit 3: Episode 30 doesn't load properly and crashes unless you have ninja skills. which has been known since at least August. Episode 36 doesn't load correctly, and Episode 41 and 42 load the same audio files. Per my support request, THERE IS NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX. Save your money. What does work, works well, but considering they have no timeline for fixes (aka not planning on fixing it), I'm not sure it's worth paying for. Edit2: works better with the update, though be warned, if you do not finish an episode and have to charge your phone, it may stop tracking. This can be solved by rebooting your phone and reopening the app. That being said, I cannot progress past episode 29. due to the app crashing. Edit: I have contacted support and while it does track now, it is in no way accurate - despite near constant walking it is still 10-15 minutes short every time. I will say that there support staff is quite patient and as helpful

S70%
by S####:

I had to abort my 31 min mission after 89 mins when it thought I still had 17 mins left to go. Hard to believe this is from the same people who made Zombies Run, which tracks steps almost identical to S Health. Edit1: I tried installing Google Fit and got to do 2 missions and 1 challenge without any problems. But on the 3rd mission it is now worse than before. 1500 steps in Google Fit = 0 steps in The Walk. Edit2: Clearing the cache will make it start to work for a little bit. Now I'm just waiting for a solution that will make it work long enough for me to complete an entire episode without getting stuck. Also no matter what I do or what route I take, I miss two items. That goes for both missions and challenges.

C70%
by C####:

I wish I could give this a good review, but the tracking is inconsistent at best and often non-existent, EVEN WITH GOOGLE FIT, at best. Update: Tried it again tonight to see if the first time I used it, it was a fluke. I walked a solid ten minutes and exited the app, opened it again, cleared the cache, force stop, etc over and over again before it finally started counting steps. I ran Google Fit simultaneously. At the end of my walk, Fit said I walked 63 minutes while The Walk says I walked 44 minutes.

C70%
by C####:

Really works in that I'm walking but though the step tracking is much improved its too big. Even saving on ext sd card still had to uninstall everything else.

C70%

I've had this app for three weeks, and have only completed two missions. The tracker constantly stops tracking my progress, and I resorted to restarting a mission in order to get the tracker working again. Biggest waste of my money.

I really enjoy the app. It does motivate to keep going. I do wish is would link to my Fitbit as I walk as opposed the the phone. With the phone I don't think I always get an accurate step count.

I walked for 45 minutes this morning and have google fit tracking enabled, Google fit registers the full 45 minutes but the game only 24. It almost seems like it wasn't tracking properly when the screen was off, any advice?

I have been having a wonderful experience with this app so far. I have had no strange bugs to mention and have been using Google Fit for utmost accuracy. My dog thanks you. He's gotten some extra walks because of this app!

I bought this and it does nothing, just sits at zero steps, tried changing all the settings etc. Would like my money back.
