SmartMart Demo

The SmartMart Demo illustrates the work done by the research team of Dylan Hicks, K. Rodman Mannix and Hannah Bowles under the direction of Texas State University professor Dr. Byron Gao during the 2013 NSF-Funded REU Information Retrieval program at Texas State University. This application is the simplest manifestation of the research done by this team during the summer of 2013.

SmartMart is essentially a mobile application to streamline the shopping experience in retail stores. A user may search for items using keywords of product names and add them to a shopping list. The list of items will then be projected on a bird's-eye-view rendering of the store's layout for users to quickly and effortlessly locate the item(s) they were looking for. SmartMart attempts to eliminate the time wasted search for a product in a store and the frustration caused by a lack of customer service or available associates. The first version of this application features the most basic but essential portions of the research and implementation.
