About Speak Together

Speak Together allows your device to read aloud things you type, like Stephen Hawking* but way cooler.

Great for anyone with speech difficulties who still wants to be heard. Save your most common phrases for easy access.

Configurable pitch, speed, and interface. The voice (and language/pronunciation) comes from your system, so you can install any other voice system you want from the Play Store and use it with this app.

* This app not affiliated in any way with Stephen Hawking.

I didn't like that it was just the Google now voice.

PROS: Automatically saves recent responses (up to 100 in the settings menu, if you wish). Save feature for responses you wish to keep. Can type in the text box while the previous response is being read, which helps to prevent long gaps. Text box automatically empties, saving time (unlike another app I tried). CONS: No instructions but it was easy to figure out. NOTE: Only one voice, however it is a nice voice. It appears to be the same voice as the other app I tried.

I recently underwent double jaw surgery and had my mouth wired shut for a month. This simple app allowed me to communicate with people around me again with relative ease compared to writing words down on paper or playing a fruitless game of charades with friends and family. The 'saved' and 'recent' phrases feature within the app made it so much easier to communicate with people without having to retype everything I just said. The ability to customize the pitch and speed of the app voice was a nice touch but wished there was a male version of the voice. Overall, its a straight forward and helpful app and it made my month bearable. Thanks!

This app is small, and doesn't put much of a drain on system resources, but is a lot of fun. It takes me back to when I first discovered the text to voice function in Vista. By converting text into a voice you can control pitch and cadence, there are a number of fun things you can do. Things you might not do with your own voice. The artificial voice isn't so good that you could manage a false identity, but it's good enough that you could ask an electronic store clerk what job her father has.
