The Hamilton Spectator

This app only gives you old news. I live in the Hamilton outskirts and look forward to reading about the city but unfortunately not from the Hamilton Spec. Bring back the old format.

The layout doesn't display the information fully. Kicks you back to the beginning after reading an article.

Painfully slow to open. When it finally does the news is 3 days old...

So... I guess we haven't had any news since Wednesday it seems... this app sucks... all I want to do is read the news..

Slow on updating news

I don't like that if I slide my finger through the articles it goes too fast and skips some. If I tap the arrows incorrectly it will open an article I might not have wanted to read. When I hit the back button it goes right back to the start of the app, not where I left off in the app. Plus the load screen is a screen cap of someone else's phone screen cap. :( the old one was better

Troubled by the fact that the update is requesting access to my phone and call log.... That's not happening!

Horrible app, takes forever to load, and 90% of the time doesn't load at all!!! Garbage app!

The update deleted my back issues. Won't let me access the older issues at all.

Once again I have to say I am totally angry with this app. Used to love it, not anymore.

New upgrade worse than the old one. Didn't think it was possible!

This app is even worse than it was. Deleting it.

I still get the print edition but love that this is really on top of things.

If it ever does load it is a decent app.

The app has worked fine for a couple years. Now it stopped working over the last week much the same as all of the other recent comments on here.

I open it ..it closes ..I open it it closes!! I give this app a failing grade. One star is too good for this app! What happened guys? I agree it used to be good....but those were the good old days. So long...farewell. We're done here!

It used to work, it no longer does. They issued a statement on the website, but it's been 3 weeks now.

The app has been working but now suddenly, it will load up but it's completely blank. I have reset my phone, uninstalling and reinstalled the app with no change. This is seriously disappointing.

I have a print subscription, I registered, since it was free. Used it for a bit. Now it says you are signed in but not authorized to read content. Wants my email, name, and address all over again. It's not worth the agrivation. Most news in the print is not here. Delete I don't like it when apps plays games just to get my info. Doesn't even work in Brasil, have to get local news elsewhere

Let's hope the Spec app keeps on working. Don't understand why it keeps malfunctioning?? Many of us want this app, good for us locals... please keep it running :)

This is the worst app! Slow loading and now not even loading at all. Why is this so hard Spec??

So today is September 11th 2015 and the app finally works . Thanks Spectator ... I missed the app and think the content is great. A lot biased to the left ala Toronto Star but good news. Stop being biased and just report the news as it happens and do not slant either left or right. Just tell me the news. Thanks. Bettina.

App starts and shuts off are you going to fix ?? They just updated and it works, listed update as bug fixes... Not true but it works

I'd rate it lower but assume the crash today is a short term prob. Hopefully when it starts to work again, the other issues will be fixed (slow loading, no pinch - zoom, repetitive story content, large white spaces). [Sept 15 - yes the basic app works again, thank you. The "other issues" have not improved, and links from Twitter feed do not load at all]

Takes about 15 years for the app to load up for me. But works after that.

This is supposed to be Hamilton's no. 1 news source on a digital platform and we are poorly represented with this app. Can't even open the app. Get it right Spec!

App hasn't worked in over a week. Opens doesn't load then closes right away. Garbage. Always something glitchy with this app since day one. Easier and less frustration to just go buy the newspaper at the store

This app hadn't worked in almost a week for me. It crashes as soon as I try and open it. I use to talk about how awesome this app was and now I wouldn't recommend anyone downloads it. Complete waste of time.

It's not rocket science people. Your app is broken, it shouldn't take this long to fix it. Your reputation is suffering. Fire your I.T. People and get some high school teen in to fix it. How are you not embarrassed by this?

I used to like this app. It gradually got worse by taking the weather forecast out, to severely slowing down the app, and now it just loads the title screen and then crashes. My best guess is that the next update will fix it so it will just not open at all.
