About Standard Notes

Love Notes. Love Encryption.

Standard Notes is a safe place for your notes, thoughts, and life's work.

# It's simple.
Standard Notes is the easiest notes app you'll ever use. That means a more reliable, long-term experience.

# Encrypted writing is your best writing.
You never really know the power of your words until you experience total-privacy for the first time.

Standard Notes uses end-to-end encryption so that:
• We can't read your notes
• Your ISP can't read your notes
• Your government can't read your notes

We like to say, "Write like no one's watching."

# Features:
- End-to-end encrypted notes with free cross-platform sync
- Passcode lock and fingerprint lock, with ability to set timing
- Tag notes to organize them in categories
- Pin a note to make sure it's always on top
- Archive a note to stash it away, and unarchive to bring it back
- Auto-save while you type means you never have to worry about accidental data loss
- Offline mode so you can access your notes and create new ones even without an internet connection
- Easy data export option that allows you to backup your entire data set
- Ability to sort note by when they were created, when you last modified, and by title
- Fast, simple, and easy to use apps on all your devices, including Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, and Web.

# And so you know, you and us are in this for the long run.
You want your notes to last as long as you do, and we want our app to serve you for decades to come. Standard Notes is architected on deeply-rooted principles of software longevity and business sustainability.

• We say no to feature requests. Simplicity is the only way forward.
• A sustainable revenue model creates a healthy, long-term environment.
• A non-IPO mindset. We choose longevity over growth.

Unlike similar apps, this keeps an encrypted copy of your notes on the device. Thus it can be used offline! If you need the information and are far from both WiFi and cell towers you can still get it. But, when within range, the notes are automatically and quickly synced. And if your phone is stolen the encrypted notes are safe, and still reside on the server and any other of your devices, such as your home computer. Finally, you can make backups in either plain text or encrypted form. Fast and easy to use.

App works great, just what I needed. Multisync works well. Adding an Edit button to note view screen would be a nice addition. Without one it's very easy to make unwanted changes.

The best thing at this app is simplicity and of course security. I am using Standard notes for everything, and i love it. All i can say to all of you who didnt try yet, to try out and youll see. Amazing!

Omg, you disabled "share to standard notes". It seems that now I have to bombine the old and the new versions.

I REALLY want to love this app, but it is too basic for my needs. I am a power OneNote user, but want privacy. I think the developers should not go overboard with "no feature requests". If they took a poll on their website and just implemented SOME of the best features of OneNote or Evernote, they could easily get me to switch. Main desires off the top of my head are basic formatting options on mobile and web clipping of some sort.

I've been on the lookout for a secure cross-platform note-taking app, and it looks like Standard Notes fits the bill! No longer do I have to worry about a corporation or government entity the ability to read personal notes.

Must have note app for Andoid and Linux! Please improve the transition effects, e.g opening menu a bit laggy. Thank you!

I'm trying this as my main notes app, and liking it. I value it's client-side encryption. With the addition of formatted preview, it'll be a five-star.

THE notes app to have on your phone and desktop. Easy, clean, and fast, not bloated with silly features, while also being encrypted just as a matter of course - no technodorkery required to keep your info private. Active and responsive development. This is the notes app you'be been looking for!

Just what the app needed. Clean interface, with more whitespace makes it much more user friendly. Added security features are great for that extra piece of mind. Sorting and pinning of notes is a real bonus. And if people don't like the default theme or colour they have options to change it. Outstanding ????

Love it! If you're looking for a lightweight and secure note-taking app that syncs across platforms for free, here's a solid option. I used to love Evernote, but left it due to the massive app bloat that developed over the years - it got slower and slower, with more and more features that I didn't use. And the features that I liked sometimes got axed or moved to Premium! The whole experience was generally disappointing. And encryption? I found and liked Simplenote very much as well, but in the end, the lack of encryption concerned me. Standard Note is an excellent, secure alternative to Simplenote - just as fast and lightweight, but secure too! (Open source as well, if you geek out about that!) And I love the company's commitment to longetivity and sustainability. Their focus is on the customer and the cause, not the IPO. No feature requests is a bit of a bummer at first, but I feel like I've learned to simplify my writing style accordingly and really enjoy the simplicity and security that the app offers. It's not for everyone, but if you're still reading this, it really just might be for you. A handful of cons: to be honest, the company's handling of this update could be better. I agree with the other reviewers who wish this could've been a simple update to the original app, the red is a bit bright and you can't change it without upgrading. And yea, this'll be a bit confusing to some. The old version and this version both have the same name! (At least the icons are a bit different though!) Sidenote: I haven't upgraded to premium, so I don't know what the themes are like, but they look great and I've been seriously considering upgrading. Summary: In short, this is a good update to a great app. Fingerprint lock and pinned notes at last! Minor concerns about the new version rollout, but those are overshadowed by just how good the app is. And the blog and email updates are great - the makers seem to be the real deal as far as keeping this free for the public and secure for all. I never review any app with more than a sentence - except for this.

The old app wasn't broken, and you shouldn't have tried to fix it. This "new design" is almost exactly the same as the old one, but with way more whitespace, so instead of seeing my six most recent notes without scrolling, I only see five. I personally preferred the subdued red in the old version over the piercing red in the new one. I wish you would have just added the security features to the 1.x series instead of trying to overhaul a design that I already liked.

Great for privacy! Needs a Monero address for payment on the Extended version to be completely private even when paid for. Awesome developer. Would be happy for this to be advert supported in the free version, as long as the advert is discrete. Would be good for adoption if even the free version has a "night mode" - like simple note, which stores notes in unencrypted form on it's server.

I cannot delete notes by holding finger on one of them. It should be working as it is the expected action according to the FAQ.
