Narrow species down by foot colour, bill shape, length of tail etc. leading to the bird searched for and a choice of similar species. You can also look for fragments of a species name through a search screen – the search for “finch“, for example, shows all the species which include the word “finch“ in the species’ name.

Since the last update this app will only load when connected to the Internet. Not as advertised. It worked fine before the update no good when no signal. Using Sony Z series phone.edit: Why are poor reviews deleted ?Be aware this is a massive download 1.6GB yet you still need the Internet to use it, very poor. Alright if you have memory to waste.

A very good app. My primary reason for buying is for bird identification and logging sightings with maps. The identification options are a little limited and for a beginner perhaps need a bit more. The logging of sightings is excellent. It took me ages to work out but you CAN alter the location in the log. Unfortunately you don't get maps for individual species which would be helpful for seeing distribution, or whether first time in that location. Emailed feedback to developer and got excellent response

Purchased this app because it looked good and comprehensive, but due to such a large size over 1gb, I cannot download with out just about deleting every usable app on the phone. Really needs the option to download to SD card to make it practical.

I've been a fan of the US version of the app and downloaded this UK version for a planned trip to England. The depth of coverage and integration with maps and sounds is truly impressive.

Simple design with the most essential elements. Easily accessible. Helpful in the field where navigating screens and tapping multiple buttons is hard. Great work taking the user's perspective

This appears to be a good app but it is So BIG! Unless you have 1.2GB (note gigabytes not megabytes!) free on your phone then this is not for you as it cannot be installed onto the SD card. Would be great if the app ran from the phone with the massive database of pictures and sounds on an SD card.

File too big. Had to delete loads of apps to make space. Then I could transfer to SD card but couldn't put back deleted apps. Would be better if data file was separate.

Better than most other apps out there but not the greatest (but best photographic guide). The photos are excellent but they do not always show all the most likely positions (eg. One is most likely to see a goshawk in flight yet the only pictures of them are sat in a tree). The app is easy to use and well designed with maps and most of the sounds are of excellent quality. 2 bugs found, you cannot zoom in on the maps/pics and you can't alter the log location. The app is well Worth having! Recommend!

My first impression when I first opened the app: buggers, it's in landscape mode. A quick look through the settings (and it is quick because there are so few) show it's not possible to change to portrait mode. Makes holding my tablet difficult to use in the field. Please consider giving us a choice. Next, it doesn't close when asked to. I have to press the button on the tablet to go to "desktop" view. I'll give it 5 stars if these problems can be sorted.

Comprehensive Coverage of All Birds My husband drags me on his golfing trips to Scotland every year. This app is going to be my lifeline on the next trip! The coverage is extensive, and includes birds I didn't even realize were in the UK! For the first time ever, I'm actually now looking forward to the trip -- for the birding, while my husband gets his golf fix!

Good and comprehensive app once I got it working. Had to go into phone settings and manually turn on permissions for location and storage on my Galaxy S8, to get rid of "can't find obb file" message. Once sorted is a very good app and worth the cost.
