About SilverCrest Smart Audio

Smart Audio allows you to add multiple speakers to a multi-room zone to play music in sync around the house; or have your speakers play different music, and control all of them from the same app. Set the volume of the group or individual devices, play/pause, browse content in your DLNA compatible music libraries, and play internet radio stations from the built-in portal featuring over 20,000 stations and podcasts, all from within one app. Smart Audio is also compatible with Spotify Connect so you can play your music directly from your Spotify app into your group of speakers. See www.spotify.com/connect for more details.
Other supported audio sources include line input, DAB, FM radio, Bluetooth. The sources displayed in Smart Audio will depend on the functionality enabled in your audio device.

This is a very poor app, it is slow to respond or does not at all. It fails to recognise its own hardware for a start, and if it does it loses connection regularly or just freezes up. Total rubbish.

Words cannot explain how bad this is. I know the wireless adaptor was cheap, but I would expect it to at least work. Will not reliably connect and I am unable to reinstall the app.

I have 35 and 30 watt wlan speakers. When playing local music from a phone and trying to choose the particular song, it will sometimes freeze the device and physically switching it off is the only solution to make it work again. Also, it would be better to let users to save more than 5 presets for internet radio stations. I think update to both software/firmware could really improve the performance. However, looking through users' responses I am not sure if developer even cares about users' suggestions/opinions. Update: Now it doesn't even load a list of radio stations. Totally unusable. Shame that company doesn't care about their customers.

Been using this system for a few months with 1 x 35W and 2 x 30W remote speakers. It generally works but has its moments of flakyness. All which could be fixed with app / firmware updates. Just got a new router with 5GHz beam forming and latest 8011.ac. That seemed to improve realibilty so far but time will tell. With the online radio side it's totally reliant on your broad band connection so you will get mixed results on that. The app needs improving as it's hard work at times looking for music using playlists. I find it easier to browse to the folder on the NAS drive or USB stick round the back. Then you loose track order as doesn't pick up playlist... It dosen't stream flacs between units which needs sorting, but mp3 & wav does not tried other formats. The app could do with improving, more info displayed, more functionality etc. It's still buggy, dosen't always update when browsing directories so have to start again to refresh. More favourites would be usefull than the 5 for the radio. Stop dosen't work when playing wav's, just have to change source to stop playing. I think I'm going to try another client to see if it works any better. It sounds good overall for me, just leave on the normal eq setting and set quality to Hi. Not had the big HiFi I on since using these so that says something for me. Where do I email a list of bugs???

The hardware is cheap so OK for what you get. Let down by the app. A fuss to setup. Only seems to work after many attempts. Favourites doesn't remember anything. App gives no confidence.

I've lost streaming of all BBC radio stations since the update, since they're the only ones I listen to pretty much useless at the moment. Podcasts are working though! Please sort this out.

Rubbish

For whatever reason I am unable to get the app to play music already on my phone so flawed from the off. While I can see my music pressing on it doesn't register it as selected. Also am unable to play audio from YouTube. Not a Bluetooth connection. Wish I had been able to check this before I purchased the speaker in lidl prior to purchase.

Unintuitive. Connecting to the equipment is easy enough. However, using the app is painfully slow. If you want to forward on one track, you have to wait an unacceptable length of time. Changing between Internet radio and other sources takes roughly 5, minutes or a full system restart. You pay for what you get.

Can anyone tell me how to 'search' on the app to look for different albums etc opposed to the ones already on my device...? The reason I am asking is that it seems that the silver rest app itself doesn't allow me to play many of the dozens of albums I have saved on my Deezer account. It only plays the first 10 or so albums. The rest appear on the list but when pressed none of the tracks music is there to play???? Does anyone else have this issue?

The speaker works great but the app is poorly designed and parts of it don't work. The widget for Samsung Galaxy phones don't work and streaming music already on the phones storage doesn't work either. If you want to stream music from your phones storage try an app called AllConnect, it basically does the same as this but actually works and is very easy to use. You can queue songs and stream from YouTube etc. Improvements needed!

This app doesn't seem to work properly, keeps freezing you need to shut the app and reopen to get it to work again. You can't add other streaming services for example amazon music, other then the ones provided, would be excellent if you can add other streaming services mentioned above (amazon music or others). Or if you can some information would help

No where near as bad as other reviews would suggest. Once the speaker is setup on wifi streaming works correctly including local audio from an S7 Edge. One small issue in that streaming stops after 5 mins if phone isn't charging - Seems to be an issue with the phone rather than the speaker or software - Leave phone charging and it's all good. Also, managed to get around this by using an alternative DLNA client app so speakers aren't tied to this app anyway.

I bought 35W speaker. For whatever reason proper control of the speaker is only possible just a few minutes after system being set up. I don't know whether this is a timeout issue or whatsoever problem with GPS (why do you need it at all? Why not bind the devices by the network name?) Also the speaker is not ment to be controlled as self-standing device, so the options to use it are pretty much restricted to AUX (makes no sense to pay for WiFi capability extra if you can't use it), or to one of the network-based options if you can be fine with having them only once configured. Say, if you are listening only to a single radio station (also no sense to pay extra for adaptability that you can't use). So, first impressed and great idea, then greatly dissatisfied. Software/firmware update mandatory to make this system living thing again and actually being capable of doing what it's promoted to do.

This app is only just OK. It plays music, and I can stream from Plex. But there is no option so create play lists, or que music, you just have to play songs album by album, or by artist. This is a major flaw. If the developers don't want to bother with this functionality then it would be better if you could just connect your device to the speaker and use the audio player of your choice instead of being bound to this flaky app.

App does not allow speaker to play music via Bluetooth from Samsung galaxy phone. I can view music files but they do not load. Does not stream amazon music and only seems to play through aux cable. Seems to be a problem with this app. I will be returning the speaker soon if not app not updated soon. Expensive wireless speaker that needs two wires to work (Power supply and aux cable).

T70%
by T####:

Took forever to set up, music plays for around 10 second's over WiFi then disconnects, the only way to use it is by connecting an aux cable to it, and aux mode can only be selected by the app which often fails to find the speaker, probably the worst app I've ever used.

Could do with playlists and google play integration.

Cannot play music from my sd card on my smartphone most of the time, there is no succession to the next song.
