About Termux

Termux combines powerful terminal emulation with an extensive Linux package collection.

• Enjoy the bash and zsh shells.
• Edit files with nano and vim.
• Access servers over ssh.
• Develop in C with clang, make and gdb.
• Use the python console as a pocket calculator.
• Check out projects with git and subversion.
• Run text-based games with frotz.

At first start a small base system is downloaded - desired packages can then be installed using the apt package manager. Access the built-in help by long-pressing anywhere on the terminal and selecting the Help menu option to learn more.

This isn't the only time I've given an app a 5 star rating, but I wish it were. This app is impeccable. it has clever advanced functionality like copy & paste working seamlessly, a full featured package manager (even if you're not rooted!), even more up to date python than I run on my main openSUSE machine, etc., but absolutely no bloat or gimmicky bells & whistles. the developer is clearly a humble genius who deserves any support you can afford

Good enough for writing code on it on the go. Apt-get, Git and Emacs (with billion packages) work flawlessly. even ASCII roguelikes!! In Emacs, I can also use touch commands when I feel like it - clicking, scrolling, pinch zooming. Using real PC apps makes even legit Play-Store apps feel like toys. Termux's user interface looks like it's well thought out for multiple use scenarios and is really useful. There are other terminal apps, but this is the one that gave me the least problems and that just works.

Great app. Isn't a very big download and can do almost any Linux cli operation you want. I would suggest adding extra quick access characters above the keyboard to make it even faster to type, but it's already really good. Look at juicessh as a reference for my keyboard idea.

Have been looking to use Linux Deploy but it's obviously a long messy procedure. Then I came across this beauty. For someone like me, having a terminal is necessary for wherever I go and this app just gave me what I needed. However there's a scope of improvement. It still lacks a lot of tools(metasploit framework, xprobe2 etc.)

This app has become an incredibly valuable tool that I use on a daily basis. Even without root access on your phone, you can install many useful Unix command line utilities. It's also great for SSHing into remote systems.

Outstanding terminal environment. Purchased some of the add-ons just to help support the developer. You won't find a better application that fulfills all your terminal emulator and secure connection needs. It even supports the installation of just about any Debian package via APT. you honestly can't ask for more from a phone app.

Honestly I tried multiple terminals and can't add more than what ppl already said in the positive reviews. Best terminal app there is. It's just sad that many other apps depend on "Terminal Emulator" instead of this one, such as "linux deploy" just to name an example.

Like many people I need root access and trying to find an answer for a group of questions was a long process..**begin edit** and now after using it for a couple of days I've decided that the root problem is my problem and it does not take away from how cool the app really is. I don't think you realize that until you put some work through it and you really appreciate the ease of flow. I now say five stars and excellent job to the developer with good luck on further developments.

This is a great terminal UI except despite SuperSU privs and storage access in app settings, whilst in su / tsu I still get Permission Denied errors when attempting to create or modify '/' (root) files and directories. This is something that can be done without hitch on 'ES file explorer' so should be able to be done in su / tsu. Get this fixed and I'll give you 5 stars

I feel like everyone MUST have great apps like this for programmers. If you are a noob just watch some YouTube tutorials and become a Pro. But, the reason for not 5 stars is that I can't get it to working without root.

K70%
by K####:

It is a really great app. It has saved me lots of times when my pc gets frozen; I ssh to it and kill the process. I use this app for, basically, ssh my computer when I'm not at home. Job well done

Termux is freakin' AMAZING. Fantastic app, does everything I wanted and more, and it feels like _trustworthy_ software which can be pretty hard to find in the mobile ecosysyem. I bought all the add-ons just to support the developer. I really like having the power of apt on my phone to make it into a usable computer again instead of just another media consumption device.

Amazing app. Was able to install nodejs and run my javascript files. Only small issue, it dident ask me for storage permissions so i had to allow it manually.

wget was recently nerfed. can't download websites for offline reading anymore. (nerfing an important feature is the reason for the 1 star). You have more user groups than rich programmers in silicon valley. also, having some weird installation problems with pip and scrapy.

It has convenient key bindings. Easy to use package manager. Ssh client works well. User experience is close to desktop one. Somehow commands history between sessions doesn't work for me. But it is not a big problem.

This is the terminal emulator you are looking for! Everything you need, nothing you don't. Works as expected as terminal emulator, and you can even install apps from repos like a real Linux environment. Just wanted to test openssh on another computer, and unlike other terminal emulators, this connected to a repo and downloaded openssh. Keep up the great work!! This should be #1 download for terminal emulators.

You will get full linux cli. Vim, tmux, ssh, clang, CMake etc. All works very well.

Termux is a good terminal and has a really large repository, however whenever i attempt to use tlyour binaries on any other terminal (mainly TWRP) I always get EXECUTABLE NOT FOUND errors (such as with elinks and w3m)

This has freed me from ever needing more than a phone or Chromebook. Changed my whole outlook on computing options.

What a great tool! I just needed a quick DNS lookup and wanted a console on my phone. Here it is! I can't wait to use it more.

This is an amazing app that gives a Linux command line to your Android device (with no need for rooting). Make your phone feel like a "real" computer. (tip: use it with 'Hacker's Keyboard')

Loving the fact I can use Clang 4.0 and GDB on the go is pretty amazing to mess about with. In love with this terminal!

I have an issue with Chrooma keyboard - when I type text it only appears after pressing spacebar.

K70%

The app and the features it provides are absolutely amazing. The entire shell with all kinds of script interpreters! With an external keyboard one can even do development on the phone

G70%

What happened to the screen alignment? I cant display the first few pixels of the console. Very distracting.

B70%

It's a very good application sir. You should also add packages with GUI to the repositories with light desktop environment such as pacmanfm, gedit, truecrypt etc.

i didn't know about it too much. so i need someone's help to use it

Not a direct Terminal / ADB shell inside Android OS. It's a standalone app that doesn't have access to Android internals.

K70%

The best possible app for debian terminal environment on android. Actively developed there is vim on this app. Recommended.

K70%

Super apps easy to use . Like a kali linux terminal.

i barely know anything about using terminal but the fact i can access my droplet in digital ocean through ssh is amazing. this app is top shelf!

Mostly good. Please change the notification to not hardcode the black text color as it doesn't contrast on dark themes.
