The Globe and Mail Android Ed.

In his book 'Mass Disruption' former G&M EIC John Stackhouse lamented the struggles at the paper in the new digital era. The paper isn't struggling, it's lost in the weeds. Through multiple app iterations, G&M can't get digital right. The app doesn't load properly, articles aren't formatted properly, it's slow, articles won't open, entire sections won't load. It's a complete and utter mess. Three difrerent tablets, same poor user experience. Doing nothing would be better than putting out a bad product like this.

So many problems, so little space. An unlimited subscription is $25, this needs to be a lot better for that kind of money. Time to hire the app developer who built the one for The Guardian.

I have an 'unlimited' subscription. This app will accept my password, but still blocks 'unlimited' content. Password works on browser but not here or the other Globe app.

Certainly better layout on tablet than viewing Globe website in browser. Only problems are with login: no Google login and app has weird third party URL so my password manager doesn't recognize it.

Should be able to download. Some articles have text size too small for android 8 inch tablets (reading tablets). Articles shoud have consistent text size. More flexability on text size for index headings. It's all about readability! More section selection, eg Technology. Ability to easily save an article (copy or save to PDF).

Slow, poor navigation, and only supports portrait mode (apparently thinking Android tablets are iPads)

This app needs major upgrades. Support for landscape mode is a must. The front pages do not support zooming or font resizing. Some of the front pages do not load.

Poor layout, not able to size main page font, can't change sections etc.... overwrought

After red splash screen, the screen goes dark and nothing ever appears. Have to manually kill the app. Running Lollipop 5.1

After filling in the registration data and hitting Register there was a long pause ........ and then the Register button came back. Infinite loop app?

I quit reading their website after they started charging and now the app requires registration. Not like their news is that good. In today's world to have to go through this sort of invasive request to get your new is shabby and just goes to show how out of of touch the g&m is

Doesn't accept my email address; says it has already been used. Was a decent app when it worked... What's the point of Globe Unlimited if your apps and web tools are so shoddy? Hasn't been updated in more than a year!

Registered for the one month trial, all good. Then when I paid for the subscription, the app won't let me register because "that email has already been used for a trial". Huh? Two emails to G&M went unacknowledged. Cancelling subscription as a result.

Red splash screen, and then black on Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Useless! This app works fine on my phone, however (Android 6.0).

Installs, shows a nice, red splash screen, then goes black and non-responsive.

I have a print subscription but i can't get past the register page. Can we give them zero stars?

Galaxy Tab S2. After the initial red screen the screen just goes totally black.

While registering I made a typo error in my email address. I've reset my tablet and reloaded all apps a couple of times but it appears that in the eyes of G&M my Android device will forever be associated with the wrong email. As a workaround I tried logging in to the G &M site through my browser and found I was blocked there too. The Help Desk's answer was polite words to the effect of nothing can be done; live with it. This tablet is now in eternal G&M limbo.

Please remove this app from Google play. It does not work.

After the spash. I get an empty black screen. Black and empty, and nothing more.

Seriously.....you guy's should be able to do better.

Excellent app! Works great on my Nexus 7. The only thing missing is the Tech section. Now it crashes on videos.

The content of the globe and mail is great. However their technology sucks. I reinstalled the app after a 6 month break and the only thing I got was a black screen. To the globe, you are only as good your technology.

After red opening page, screen goes black. And stays black.

Try to log on, totally unresponsive

Practically useless; works sporadically; only randomly recognizes my sign in; asks for money as I'm trying to read articles from a subscription for which I have already paid. Seems to be the brainchild of a sinister or incompetent IT crowd.

No news. Just a black screen.

I downloaded it really fast but I has been unable to open it, the screen get frozen and I have to close it manually.

Just the splash screen and perhaps an ad then all black before timing out now. I give up and am using the phone-style app for now.

This android app refuses to install fully. On first launch, it shows a red screen,then black. That's as far as it ever gets. Installing it again does not correct the problem. Deleting it solved my problem.

Won't work as the registration system is broken

App won't accept registration, totally unusable. Deleting after many failed attempts. Total waste of time

This app constantly asks you to register and then does not accept the form. Also, there is no login option for my subscription - the subscription seems to be only available through the website.

App obliges you to register but then the submit button doesn't work. No reading possible. Was reported on the 24th...still doesn't work.

The description calls this a cutting-edge tablet app... When an app forces me to use it in portrait mode, it is definitely not a cutting-edge tablet app. You don't understand your customers if you force them to use the app in one way only.
