What are users saying about The Sufferfest

As every other user of this app has pointed out, every video keeps stopping. I'm able to use it for about 3 minutes before it locks up. Then I have to quit the app, find and restart the video and ffwd to the point the video stopped at for another 3 minutes. This gets pretty tiresome during the course of a 60 minute workout. No other app or video streaming service suffers in the same location so it isn't a connection issue. I won't be subscribing for a second month.

U70%
by U####:

Fantastic app. Those who complain it buffers... thats your net connection... not the app. Truly great app.

R70%
by R####:

As others have said, it basically stops all the time. I have a new tablet, latest android version and 152mb connection and every video stops and starts, sometimes the video, so etimes the sound, sometimes both. Sort it out sufferfest, it cannot be so hard to stream video. App is unusable in current form, if they sort the problems it would be a winner.

R70%
by R####:

The app can't hold the stream and keeps dropping out, stuttering, becomes pixalated etc. Real shame because I like the Sufferfest videos but this app is just not working. When it's fixed properly and the videos buffer or can be made available offline, I'll consider subscribing again.

Q70%
by Q####:

App continuously crashes about every five minutes. Video won't hold stream like others say, and I'm on good wi-fi. Wish it worked because the videos are great.

R70%
by R####:

The sufferfest app is beautiful. Easy to manage and explore, but the fact that it is not compatible with Chromecast blows my mind.... This is a must. Will fix rating when this is done. Chromecast support would make the app complete. Also, they said that the streaming process has been changed but it is still very unreliable.

R70%
by R####:

I really like the vids. They help to make turbo sessions much more fun. The main issue I have is that videos will freeze and the app will require restarting at least once per session. This is despite having a good connection.

R70%
by R####:

No issues whatsoever with the stream on my home WiFi, elements of style streamed in great quality on a 10" tablet, no hanging or pixelation or anything. Great vfm training aide!

R70%
by R####:

I can stream YouTube, Netflix and Hulu without issues, but Sufferfest kept buffering so was unusable for me.

R70%
by R####:

I am very disappointed with this. I bought it yesterday and I'm canceling today. The video freezes many many times throughout and says "can't play video. Very frustrating when I'm half way though a video and I need to stop and restart the video. The music is terrible and the commentary is pretty dumb. I don't understand why I can't play my music. But I'd still use this if it didn't constantly freeze. Not at all worth ten dollars a month. I'd really like a refund!

Yet another customer lost due to an unusable app. Such a shame if this company dies due an app that freezes all the time. Supposedly a new app is coming that lets you store locally, but nothing yet. If you're thinking about singing up, save your money...for now.

M70%
by M####:

I want a refund. This is ridiculous. Audio plays and video keeps spopping. Refund please.

Tried to stream one video and could never get more than 5 minutes of constant streaming. Disappointing, great concept.

R70%
by R####:

Love The Sufferfest but this is useless just will not stream

L70%
by L####:

I love the videos but just can't get them to play without freezing and then stopping altogether. happens on WIFI and 4G , so frustrating. If that was improved then would be 5 stars.

R70%
by R####:

No where near as easy to use as the apple app. Poor connection, stop starts. Overall gutted that it's so poorly set up for android

R70%
by R####:

I am a Sufferest fan when they were free on youtube. Mostly unplayable on my 4G Samsung Note 4 phone with 4 bars. Indiscriminate pausing! Whatever they changed doesn't work. When you want to jump to a section moving the time slider unsyncs and takes a long long time to start. Don't even bother with the app. The videos by themselves are great. It makes more sense to chop the subscribtion fee in half and give you the ability to download and then play them from the file.

R70%
by R####:

The content is great, dry humour and excellent intervals. However the feed drops out at least once per session which is SO frustrating. The new streaming method from April didn't address this for me. Finally - to get a fifth star Chromecast functionality would be a big plus and is currently missing.

K70%
by K####:

Tried the app, since the videos on STRAVA freeze, and constantly lag. Guess what?? So does the app! I hope I'm not paying for this!!

R70%
by R####:

Sufferfest videos themselves are great. But the app doesn't do them justice. Have done two sessions, and both times the streams have died and lagged (even after they "changed the way the videos stream", and for reference, I stream netflix 4k no problem), and the HD videos constantly downscale to SD (most of the footage is SD anyway so no biggie). There is also no Chromecast support, which is pretty poor. Otherwise just about usable, given they don't have a streaming subscription option for desktop.

Video only last about a minute then crash, can't fast forward or rewind.

R70%
by R####:

So after reading all the bad reviews I decided not to stream but download a session. Worked perfectly

R70%
by R####:

I have had sufferfest fever for several years, using my laptop to watch the videos. The app has brought Sufferfest into the 21st century...no laptop, no leads, just whip your phone out and get sweaty. This app has never missed a beat. Only downside for me was paying over £100 for the videos initially and now having to repay monthly for them again. I would have thought as a previous customer I would get some sort of discount or fee free months.

R70%
by R####:

I cant play videos fore more than 39seconds before freezing. Tried with both 4g and strong wifi connection. Really wanted to use the videos in gym and not at home. Will this be fixed?

R70%
by R####:

Few minutes unto the video and it stops. Restart the video, find where i was up to and a few minutes later it stops again. Went on google play and pressed unsubscribe. Waste of £6.99.

X70%
by X####:

Yeah, thats not working... AS a big fan of zur fest I am anxiously waiting for a working Version. :-)

R70%

It isn't your connection. I've even tried on a 100mb bearer at work. Jared from Sufferfest has confirmed there is an issue with the Android version, yet they are not giving refunds.

X70%
by X####:

Well sadly I've had to mark this app down to 2 stars from the original 4 I gave it. Yes the videos are great but nigh on impossible to watch all the way through without it freezing. I've just cancelled my subscription.

Does what it says on the tin - It make you suffer and you WILL LOVE it

R70%
by R####:

Been a long time user of downloaded videos. Got the app to try some new ones. Frequent pausing and crashing occurred so getting rid of it. Pretty disappointed.

U70%
by U####:

Streaming is poor. Freeze's regular . normally mid intervals ruining the set. Sufferfest videos are great. Just the streaming is really poor. Great when it works.

R70%

I used this app for the last 7 days while on travel. I was in hotels that had crappy Wi-Fi and I didn't have any problems with the app. I believe they have whatever glitch that was in there for Androids fixed because I had no issues whatsoever. I love sufferfest and it's a great workout. Helps with stress relief and weight loss.

G70%
by G####:

Keeps freezing up. Not worth it unless they fix this issue.

Z70%
by Z####:

Video stops every 3 minutes. Waste of money.

B70%

The video content is great but it constantly freezes. Ruins the workout. It's not the connection as I can stream Netflix, Hulu, etc on same connection with no issues.

R70%
by R####:

The violator and there is no try has stopped working on the Samsung tab s you tap on them and it shows the chrysalis using the new version and as everyone else has said the videos are inconsistent work fine one day then stop working the next will cancel this subscription if this does not stop

D70%

The is a nice set of videos that definitely help motivate you during an otherwise thankless chore...riding inside. These videos are fun and have helped me work harder and suffer more. I am hoping for MTB videos in the future.

G70%
by G####:

Was glad to have signed up as love the concept, however video plays for 1 min and crashes. Thought it might have been because I was using 3g but tried again with stable WiFi and had exact same issue. Seems to be a recurring problem based on other reviews. Bought yesterday and cancelled today.

Z70%
by Z####:

I love the videos and the ability to have access to all of them for a reasonable monthly fee, but it just doesn't work well. I've tried multiple devices and the videos end up stuttering, pixelating, skipping and eventually locking up with a "can not play video" message. I've tried using a Moto X, Moto G and a Venue tablet, and all have the same issue. I can stream Netflix, Amazon and YouTube with no issue on the save devices in the same location.

D70%
by D####:

Please cancel and refund my subscription. Video freezes too many times during a work out for it to be practical. Sufferfest obviously have infrastructure problems as I am on new hardware and 30mbps Internet connection.
