About USurvey

USurvey is ideal for analyzing nearby Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth LE devices, device discovery, and network speedtests. These features are conveniently accessed through the sleekly designed UI created by Ubiquiti Networks. USurvey contains no ads and is free of charge.

USurvey helps you locate a less crowded channel for your Wi-Fi Access Point. It lists nearby Wi-Fi channels and Bluetooth LE devices and shows you the details of those channels.

With the app you can easily list and analyze devices connected to your current network. USurvey scans the whole network subnet and shows you all of the available devices with the applicable details, using Bonjour, SNMP, NetBIOS, and UBNT discovery protocols.

Another core feature is the network speedtest. You can test the speed of your internet connection and save the results for later comparison – or quickly share the results.

It combines a speedtest with a wifi analyzer!

Won't scan WiFi network if airplane mode is on. Wifi can be enabled, even if airplane mode is active.

The wifi analyzer tool is great, although I'm not sure how accurate it is in comparison to others since they're always in a fluxuated state. It's okay for hunting APs down, if you know about how they might be installed somewhere. Discovery tool is pretty great too, if you ever need a quick network scan of devices. As for the speed test, this needs some serious improvement. Not only is it missing an upload speed, which I saw is planned for a newer release, but the download test is terrible. I have to run it three times just to get it up to the correct speeds. It starts off low, then spikes up faster with time. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but there's certainly not enough time for it to reach peak performance and show you true capabilities. First test I just ran was around 71, and the second went up to 122. Now that's not very accurate in my opinion, plus not to mention speed test gives me about 176 and fast does 150. I'm well aware that ISPs can mess with this data on their end by snooping requests and boosting speeds for speed tests (for false results to make it look good). It's still very inaccurate though. With the USG pushing 300, it also hurts with that too (although I blame old reused wiring for that, not the software or hardware). Overall, having a handy networking app like this is pretty great. It allows me to remove some other ones I don't need (wifi analyzer, and maybe speed test soon if they fix it). Definitely has potential for extreme convenience.
