About Unity Remote 5

With Unity Remote 5, you can use an Android device to view and test your game live, right inside the Unity Editor 5.4 or later. Unity Remote 5 makes your Android device act as remote control. It streams touch, accelerometer, gyroscope, webcam and screen orientation change events back to Unity Editor. This is useful for rapid development when you don't want to compile and deploy your project to Android device for each change and prefer to use the Unity Editor Game window instead.
Extended product documentation is available on Unity Manual: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/UnityRemote5.html

This app works perfectly. If you can't get it to work, chances are you cant even build & run directly to your device from unity. This app doesn't do this setup process for you, it expects you to have knowledge of the processes involved in app development and to have already set your device into developer mode (duh) and to enable usb debugging (of course) Don't expect it to be plug and play unless you already develop and build apps to your device from unity. For me it was exactly that. Plug, set device, play

K70%
by K####:

Makes Android testing much easier and faster graphics quality is low but it's better than nothing. As to ppl having problems .make sure you have USB debugging enabled in the developer setting :P

This doesn't run after trying like 150 different things - drivers, adb.exe, sdk, jdk, ndk, unity project and build settings, restart, rerun, disable-enable, phone dev configuration... and many more. Nothing works! I have to actually build and install every time I wish to test a run. How disappointing!

K70%
by K####:

It's broken and everybody knows it... Would be nice if you put some effort into fixing it... Everybody is saying it stops working every now and then and they have to restart unity to get it to work. I just wasted 5 euros on an asset that would do the same thing as unity remote but through the lan, just to find out late that it actually requires me to modify my code, and it doesn't even work in javascript. And now I'm sitting here, compiling my game, over and over again. Just because.

When it works great. But I spend more time trying to instead of using it. It's very buggy in OSX. Works for a very short while after first opening unity then it just stops. Restarting the remote app and unity resolves it again for a short while.

Followed instructions carefully several times. Spent 5 hours trying to fix it. Doesnt work on my phone I guess. Yay now I can't make a single game on android.

N70%
by N####:

Compared to Remote 4 this is a huge step backward. It crashes often and the touch response is so bad it makes testing without a build practically impossible.

K70%
by K####:

Works great! It lags a bit, I don't mind. Was pretty hard to figure out how to get it to work (sdk, jdk, etc.), but works great.

Go to settings and click on status find build number and tap it 7 times until developer mose is activated then go back to the settings menu and find developer settings click it and then look for usb debugging and turn it on then it should work for you

Or at least change the blue bar. Blue is the color that degrades the fastest on oled displays. The blue bar is now burned into my screen and visible on white background.

by S####:

Awesome cut my development time in half!!! And for anyone that has a problem try rooting your phone it needs almost the same settings as rooting

K70%
by K####:

Couldn't get it working at the start with my Samsung tablet. Then on my computer i downloaded the Samsung USB driver then whoallah works perfectly. For those who couldn't get it to work try googling "OEM drivers" then download the driver relevant to your device e.g. if you have a HTC then download the HTC usb driver. Happy remoting :)

K70%
by K####:

Doesn't work 100% of the time. Sometimes you just need to restart it or restart unity itself. When it does work however it performs fluidly as advertised.

Galaxy S5. Followed instructions, but nothing happens when I press play.

Works most of the time but crashes a lot and the graphics are not that good.

K70%
by K####:

Helps me to test run my game without having to build apk every time I test my game. And.... are you planning for Unity 6.0 ?

G70%
by G####:

It's not working. Turned on USB debugging, connecting the cable before playing it, selected 'any android device' in project settings, STILL NOT WORKING. I've already done everything. I can't identify the bug.

K70%
by K####:

I only get gps coordinates 0,0 and no compass heading... and I did allow the unity remote to use device location (galaxy s7 edge).

P70%
by P####:

I don't know how to use it. I've looked at tutorials but they're all for remote 4.

K70%
by K####:

Makes debugging and testing a breeze. People need to know that the main purpose of this app is to directly test your game without having to build on your device every single time you press play.

K70%
by K####:

Doesn't work what-so-ever on LG Rebel LTE, even with Debugging enabled. Complete waste of time.

K70%
by K####:

It cant be play on mobile device. Samsung A5. Anyone try it?

K70%
by K####:

Doesn't seem to work on ZTE no matter which drivers I installed, how I setup the debugging mode, etc.

K70%
by K####:

I click play but it doesnt load on this device. It might be because you didnt mention personal edition in the description. I have personal edition.

K70%
by K####:

K70%

There's still the huge difference between running from the editor and the actual build.it's quality is kinda low while testing
