WHO: This app is designed for people who need a fast, searchable, offline glossary anywhere in the world, at a conference or in the field, be they students, scholars or policymakers.
WHY: In our interconnected world, global discussions rely on a shared understanding of key concepts. This fulfils one of the main missions of UNU: to act as a bridge between academia, UN agencies and the general public.
HOW: The app gathers knowledge from five UNU institutes and programmes: in Belgium (UNU-CRIS), Iceland (UNU-GEST), Japan (UNU-IAS), Malaysia (UNU-IIGH), and the Netherlands (UNU-MERIT – the lead institute for this app), plus research fellows worldwide. It will be expanded in 2016 to reflect the work of other UNU sites around the world, covering major UN issues related to peace and governance, global development and environmental sustainability.
