Overall this app is pretty good. My biggest complaint however, is that while I have Metra tickets for multiple lines, that is not reflected in the metra ticket screen. There are two groupings, but it doesn't say which line each is for, so I have to play a guessing game when choosing my ticket. Please fix!

Super handy and convenient to purchase and manage tickets. I use it for metra monthly tickets. Haven't transferred tickets but the call center easily transferred tickets for me when I had to replace my cell twice now. More stars when it gets a widget! Metra conductors are snippy about having tickets available right then and there and a widget would help.

Crashes every single time I launch it. It's been doing this since day one and still not fixed. Cannot add a credit card because the web views are cut off from view so th submit button is hidden. Just so many issues....

I recently lost my u-pass and reported it. I got a new card with the same serial number then I tried to register it to my account again and it says its already registered. I tried to sync it to my account and it would have a small window saying "syncing..." and just goes back to the original page that says "register or purchase". I don't know what happened. It worked perfectly fine until I got this new one.

by Q####:

I use it for metra twice a day. The app is super slow to start, which makes for delays when the conductor comes around. It also crashes the first time you launch it after a while. Aside from starting faster, there should be an option to have it open directly to the Metra tickets screen. Additionally, a way to create a home screen shortcut directly to your monthly pass or even better, a widget that displays your monthly pass, would speed things up greatly.

It was hard to find information about how to transfer balances. Turns out it's because they don't allow you to transfer balances - not without paying for a new card. I lost my card with $30 on it and was forced to buy a new one on the spot. Went to the customer service center to get the money off of my lost card to put onto my new one. It's not possible. Now I have to buy a second card to spend my credit. You exploit every opportunity to squeeze money out of your customers.

Ventra used to be a mess. When they first implemented it I coukdnt fathom hownit would ever get worked out. But they did work it out and now its great! I can ride all over Chicago metro with one card, using my balance to ride Pace, CTA and Metra. Couple that with arrival times and I'm a happy camper.

Is anyone else having issues where nothing happens when you press for your favorite stops? I definitely have marked my favorites, yet I cannot see them. I always have to look them up. Maybe it's a glitch? Apparently, I have the most updated version of this app. HELP!

Still crashes constantly on opening. Considering switching back to the paper tickets. Very frustrating when metra staff are asking to see your ticket. Unstable. After months the app is still crashing when launching. Fares in my area have increased yet again, hopefully this isn't where the extra money is going to. Disappointing.

Everytime I open the app, it crashes then reopens. Every. Time. Also takes a while to load. Not the end of the world until the poor conductor has to sit there waiting. I've seen this error on friends phones as well.

It is unfortunate that we are stuck with this app to pay for Metra on our mobile devices. It frequently crashes on launch. When it loses connectivity it lets you know it by bombarding you with error messages for every time it attempted to connect to server. This means sometimes there's up to 20 error messages you need to clear. It is easier to restart the app, deal with the crash on launch and then relaunch. When it works it works great. But these bugs and no update in almost a year is inexcusable.

Ended up putting me in a sticky situation when the app crashed and didnt reopen on the train. The conductor was nice about it. Might be my phone thats the problem but I heard similar reports. Please work on it.

1 year on, and the application still crash on android Everytime you launch it. Have to launch twice. Metra is doing a kick ass job at not fixing bug. Does anyone over there ever look at android crash stack in the Google play developer console or are ya'll too busy punching holes in tickets ?

I bought a Ventra ticket at 5:00 am but my card still showed insufficient funds at 5:30. I almost missed work / had to take a taxi. Luckily the passenger behind me on line was generous and kind enough to pay for my fare. I hate this app.

Slow, crashes, something is either wrong in the platform for publishing, the build itself, or the testing was rushed. No other app to use for Chicago metro area transit, so it's tyranny of the monopoly. Market can't correct it.

Needs a major overhaul, With my new S8 plus this app constantly crashes and forces closes. Can't even get to my Metra ticket to show the conductors. No response on my emails from this app support to fix this issue.

Use the app since a couple months now and it worked ok. With the latest update ran into situation that software didn't start anymore. Reinstallation fixed it but wasn't sure if online METRA tickets would still be there. Luckily they are. Be aware: METRA tickets are linked to physical device. Not sure if transfer is possible.

This app crashes every other time I open it. Clearly when it resumes it tries to use some resource it no longer owns. This is a noob programming error and I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed. It is also the slowest app I use.

S70%

I have the worst time launching this app. It always gives a message the app has stopped, to close or send feedback. Almost every day. Can you fix it? I have submitted feedback 3 times but it still happens.

App always crashes the first time you launch it. When selecting a time to look at train schedules, the done button rarely works as intended. These issues have persisted for the 6 months that I've used app. Frustrating app, but useful for buying metra tickets on demand and reloading Ventra card. Great customer support (had to call to move tickets to new device after first decide bricked).

by C####:

I like the idea of this app. I use it everyday to check bus arrival times and frequently to reload my Ventra. That's all great. The problem is that every time I try to open it, I get an alert that says "Ventra app has crashed" (this is 100% of the time). So I have to close and reopen. Then, when I'm trying to dive into a certain bus line and stop to check arrival times, options/buttons become unclickable. ex: I click into bus line 49, and on the next page, northbound and southbound aren't clickable, so I have to go back to the list of all busses, then back into 49, then click either north/south. That moves me forward to the list of stops. But, now, none of the bus stops are clickable on this page, so I have to do the same thing: go back to the page where you select North/southbound, select either north or south again, move forward to list of stops, and then finally I can click into the stop I want. That's lot of back and forth and it's annoying. So, low rating due to bugs, not concept.

The app is slow, ugly, and looks outdated. Also, why not support Android pay natively? It would be easier and I would feel better using Android pay instead of letting Ventra hang on to my card information. The app crashes every time I open it. Also, I had to factory reset my phone and now the 10 pass that I had purchased no longer shows in the app... seriously? The app hasn't been updated in over a year... Guess it's time to contract another app developer to fix the broken app? Maybe you could use some of the extra cash from the raised ticket prices to make the app usable.

C70%

Wouldn't let me register a card, wouldn't let me purchase a new card, help page is blank, Contact Us page is blank, etc. POS app is good enough for government work I guess.

C70%
by C####:

I've been using this app for a year now and I've only had problems a handful of times. It's very convenient and useful. The transit tracker is sometimes inaccurate, but I know that has to do with the old tracking system and not the app.

C70%
by C####:

Bought a pass only to find out you can't use it from app to ride. Doesn't warn about this anywhere. Just wasted my money and made me purchase a second pass in person.

D70%

Crashes every time you open the app. Have to force a stop then reopen. It used to work great but that bug started about 5 months ago and they haven't done a thing about it. They also seem to miss a number of major bus routes. For example, I take the 147 or 151 regularly. The app sometimes shows northbound buses, but doesn't show southbound. So the only thing it's really useful for is managing my ventra card.

W70%

Ive missed COUNTLESS busses using the transit tracker its horribly inaccurate most of the time. Everything else works fine tho

K70%

Terrible app. Missing key functionality like credit card management. "Forgot" functionality is glitchy on some Android versions. The mobile version of the site is tons better despite the fact that even it violates basic w3c mobile web standards.

C70%

This app crashes every single time I launch it. I try to be a good customer and have my ticket ready for the conductor, but once the screen shuts off, you have to relaunch the ticket. Streamline the app so nobody has to wait!

C70%

I am so happy that I've downloaded this app. It keeps track of when my children get on the bus which is perfect and lets me know pretty much a time frame of when they will arrive. I think the transit history is brilliant. This app makes it so easy to load our ventra cards and I never have to worry about finding a machine. Love it!!!!

C70%
by C####:

I have an LG Flex. Downloaded the app a couple days ago and was able to add my ventra cards and favorite bus routes and money in the accounts with no problem. The app works great, the only problem I've had is sometimes when i go to a different window and then come back to Ventra app it will automatically close the app but most of the time it doesn't. Overall a great app.

Got a new phone, and transferred all my things to that phone, and I no longer have data on the old phone. Try to ride the Metra and I no longer have my Metra tickets, they're still on the old phone. They don't transfer to the new phone. Good thing I didn't get a monthly. Sync multiple devices PLEASE!

C70%
by C####:

I would give it 0 star if I can, absolutely worst, bought a one day pass on app to use today in Chicago, instead Ventra will MAIL a card to my home thousands of miles away, can't use in app, they refuse to refund, it is a bad joke. Don't waste your money!!

C70%
by C####:

I keep this app installed, but only really use for schedules when riding the Metra with a monthly. Nothing really beats the paper schedules sadly enough. The app also crashes whenever switching back to it after an extended period of time (I have a Nexus 5x), but I've just learned to deal with it when prompted to reopen. Missing app Metra features: - Show train numbers for favorited lines to be able to follow platform announcements - Indicate whether a train will be on the center track for express lines (indicated by an 'x' on the paper schedules) - Show some historical schedules and/or GPS data for favorited lines (when a train is late there's no easy way to track it) - Show train schedule of the train you're riding (helpful when tracking your current train's arrival time if delayed)

Every time that I have tried to buy a Metra ticket from this app, it hasn't worked. It tells me that my billing information is not the same and I even went under settings and pressed the "same as card information" or whatever so that it would make all my mailing information the same. This app is supposed to make traveling by train easier in the Chicagoland area easier. This app has done anything but, and has made my traveling much more stressful. It is near impossible to buy tickets in advance and when the ticket booth at the station is almost never open, I have to buy my ticket in cash on the train. I don't know about other people, but I for one do not carry cash on me. This app has frustrated me beyond belief and is a waste of space on my phone.

C70%
by C####:

Pretty bad app, if you reset your phone or change phones it is almost impossible for purchased tickets to show up on the new phone. Support is nonexistent. Ventra Chicago app is frustrating. Cta, please stop adding comments to every review which complaints about transferring between phones : instructions ain't working! CTA, do you understand English?

The app crashes once before working properly. Then the next time I try to use it, same thing, app crashes then works. Very frustrating

V70%

I have had this app through 4 phones and it consistently crashes every time I open it, code is not secure and paid tickets use archaic method of local storage. This makes transferring tickets to a new phone difficult. How does someone build an app that crashes for hundreds of thousands of people every day and not care to fix it? Do you really think they care about security? It makes you wonder how secure your credit card data is with them.

C70%
by C####:

Was working great. Last update now causes it to force close the first time I try to access the widget. Conductors are not pleasant when it takes multiple time to open the app

C70%
by C####:

You people complain too much. This app is fine. It crashes because your phone is a potato. You lost your money because you didn't order a replacement card because you have to have it pronto to get on your slow bus. The metra tickets are not sorted because the ticket zones are used on ever rail line. The metra fares are expensive because of taxes and paying teachers pensions. Your favorite stops are not saved because it was never implemented by the dev team, it's also kinda useless. Stop complaining, move out of Illinois or face reality
