When im away from home my hub 3 is not shown as a virgin hotspot although im subscribed. Is this normal.... also despite walking through several so called hotspots there is no automatic connection and manual connection is very sketchy. Still needs some work i think. The idea is superb but the execution is not up to the hype.

After the update the autoconnect does not work any more. Just because I don't have the pin set up on my phone. How useless. It's not you'r job to make shure I have the pin on my device. I think I will be unsubscribing from this service and advising all my friends to do the same. Shame on you virgin.

Doesn't work correctly. e.g if looking at usage, you cannot get off that page. Pressing the back button does nothing. This is the same with other pages. You have to manually shut down the app. This is on a Moto g4. Is this a known bug?

'upgraded' from Wi-Fi buddy assuming it would be better. Very different. Gives no signal strength and seems to reset stats? Why can we not have same + enhanced functionality instead of complete rework?

Y70%
by Y####:

Awful app. Auto connect will not work for me, manual connect will not work for me. Very limited WiFi spots in my area (that's not the apps fault, of course). BT have got this so much better. Even Sky have. Not difficult to steal a few ideas.

Seems nice enough interface. However I am within the red circle area and yet I get no wifi even though I am logged in on the app. Does it only work with a landmark pub marker? I thought I read online that the red areas are areas of coverage...? Please advise and I will give a 5 star rating because currently this is the only thing stopping me rating 5 stars, not seeing it work.

The app activates my phone wifi several times a day without my permission. That costs battery power if not noticed. It also means the app is showing my wifi identity while I'm travelling across the city. When it's on with my permission it seems to work very well and I would like to give it five stars but the downsides are a real problem so one star instead.

"Unable to run this app on a rooted device due to security concerns". So you're calling me a thief? Sky Wi-Fi app works fine on the same phone

Not one Wi-Fi hot spot in Edinburgh. I then searched Manchester (as English people are more important than Scottish) and found none there either. The app is designed to show Wi-Fi hot spots it doesn't show Wi-Fi hot spots. Uninstalling

I really want to love this app, but I'm struggling. The idea of being able to access WiFi while I'm away from my home and office using my Virgin Media credentials is great in principle, however I find I'm forever having to run through the setup process almost every time I launch the app. It's as though I've uninstalled and reinstalled it or wiped the app's data. It's really quite frustrating especially as I typically open it as I get to an underground platform and don't have a mobile data connection to complete the setup. It would be awesome if the app just remembered it's settings, even after it's closed and reopened. I also find it will sometimes happily redo the setup with no problems, but at other times complains the installed networks are already setup and setup can't be complete.

So now the App makes sense - after years of promise Virgin has finally enabled it's routers (in Birmingham and Coventry, at least). The app will now connect to Virgin routers without any log in required - using a separate data connection fed into domestic broadband routers. My Honor 7 now connects to 'Virgin WiFi' on almost any street in Birmingham and Coventry - a handy map will show you where the nearest connection is. The app also works much more seamlessly with commercial free wifi such as the Cloud I assume this is still a roll out so hotspots will become more numerous as time goes on - time to reduce your mobile data costs and use the free wifi when you're out and about!

Have installed it, reinstalled it and it still won't work. We've been virgin media customers since before they began,(b'ham cable) etc . Works well for hub, AC holder, but in simple terms it is c**p

S70%
by S####:

Great idea. Would be 5 stars if auto connect was more responsive and battery usage reduced. To all those saying they are In a red circle on the map and have no connection, try zooming right in to see if you actually are in the coverage area of the nearest hub before blaming the app for not connecting. More hubs are being added all the time so this can only get better

I'm upgrading my review to 5 stars... My old rating was for the app as it was a year ago, and it's much more useful now. I used to disable it unless I was in London or at an airport, since the wi fi hubs were few, but recently I started noticing that my phone was connecting to 'virgin media wi fi" all over the place! I travel a lot around the uk for work, and the coverage of wi fi is getting seriously impressive, and it's only part rolled out. It's my understanding that they are using customers home hubs (while not affecting their service in any way) to offer wi fi to those out and about, and my goodness it works really well! I demonstrated this to some chums, who are not on virgin, and they refused to believe it... But it's real, and at least in my experience, its a superb addition to an already impressive mobile service. I am a bit less peeved that I can't buy unlimited 4g data... As quite honestly I now spend half the time connected to wi fi. Credit where it's due and a round of applause from me to you Virgin mobile.... This will be a tough feature to beat for some of the other carriers, who may have hubs in train stations etc, but not down residential area

This app tries to use wifi even when the signal is non-existent. I also think it confuses Google maps although I am not sure. A decent idea but a rubbish implementation.

Deleted this app long ago. Thought, after an email of updated and new locations i would download it again. I did, and now unable to set up auto connect. Followed all instructions and deleted the old SSID, but still does not connect. Waited for a while, switched phone off for 10 mins, and still does not set up auto connect.

I am a Virgin Media customer and I also have a Virgin Mobile PAYG mobile. When I try to use this app it will not work without first wanting to download data via mobile data which I do not use. Why can I not set it up using wifi?

S70%
by S####:

Every few days it loses the ability to connect to any networks ('incorrect password') and needs to be set up again. It's incredibly irritating. Also constantly tries to connect to low quality WiFi resulting in non-working internet at critical moments. Nice idea but evidently no user testing was done and not really usable in the real world.

S70%
by S####:

Just get errors when trying to set up. Waste of time. Edit: I have used the in-app messaging feature to contact customer support who don't seem to have a clue and are not very helpful as they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over again. I've removed every single SSID profile from my phone, reinstalled the app, deleted its cache and data numerous times, and also erased the system cache on my phone, and I'm STILL getting the same errors. Typical Virgin Media: great when it works, but don't expect any support when it goes wrong.

I70%
by I####:

Junk, like pretty much everything the Virgin media development team produce. Cannot even set up auto connect. I'm leaving Virgin media. They constantly lie to their customers. Switching to BT. Even though their network is slower it is more reliable and they don't have serious security issues. After being a virgin media customer for years I have had enough. Virgin media is dead to me.

This app doesn't seem to work, it tells me that my son card has not been accepted (I created my account and my phone number was confirmed, but it still doesn't work). I tried to delete the app, switch off my phone but no luck. VM need to fix this problem because I found many questions about it in their forums, but they haven't given any solutions yet.

Wi-Fi quality can be pretty poor especially of you're walking. The main gripe I have with this app is everything I disable Wi-Fi when connected to a Virgin signal my phone restarts. It's rather annoying
