What are users saying about Wacom Inkspace App

N70%
by N####:

2 stars for effort I guess... none of the functions work smoothly, had to login to the cloud a billion times for the app to notice, etc. The tablet is nice but the software is terrible. Makes it a hassle to use the thing in general.

K70%
by K####:

I'm finding that trying to use the cloud feature doesn't work. It asks you to sign in but then nothing happens and it just goes in a loop and keeps asking you to log in. Very odd.

H70%
by H####:

Okay, now it doesn't lose notes, drop connections and crash. Thank you Anna. If Inkspace could export vector strokes instead of vector outlines, could be a five star app

N70%
by N####:

Since the update it has been working I got the spark for school and was so excited to use it. The app prevents this from happening though. I want it to work please please fix

E70%
by E####:

It is very disgusting. Always saying connection lost while pairing.

N70%
by N####:

All of my notes from before March have all just disappeared.. First from the cloud and now my device

E70%
by E####:

I have an Intuos Pro Paper edition. Inkspace is working for my initial testing. Writing and drawing. Creating layers. On my mobile, Google Pixel, I turned in location services, Bluetooth, and NFC is already on it that make any difference. The images don't seem to be synced to the cloud on the desktop browser which is strange. What's the point of a cloud then? Anyway, all I'm doing is exporting vector to the mobile, then uploading to a functioning cloud. Also, you can't name your files or add notes to your documents.

O70%
by O####:

Update:Completely rubbish, please don't buy. It doesn't work. Still keep on losing notes despite the new updates. I thought it was a great idea so i bought bamboo spark, just used two days and some of my notes are not synced and now cannot connect anymore. Come on Wacom, how long do you need to fix this bug? They should have informed this issue when we're buying because we're not buying expensive notepad.

N70%
by N####:

Loses data, need to "add new device" every time I want to use the spark hardware and sometimes while using the hardware. When the system can be coaxed into working it is ok. Not suitable for any notes you want to keep. Write onto paper and then take a picture with your phone. Way more reliable.

Z70%
by Z####:

Ok Folks, i've gotten mine to sync again.. Have to re-pair every 10 minutes but it's synched.. What they're (wacom) isn't saying, is that you HAVE TO, HAFTA, HAFTA have location services enabled for it to synch.. The website is STILL broken rubbish but at least my notes have synced with my device..

N70%
by N####:

Have been using the spark for about 2 days now, active sync does work however it may take a couple of button presses. Background sync doesn't work at all. I got the spark for its advertised OCR capabilities which do not work in my testing so far. Overall the app is poorly written, the code is not optimised which leaves it overly bloated causing system lag and freezing. 90% of the issues with this app could be solved if you hired a component programmer and an optimiser.

L70%
by L####:

Just updated this app. Now I can't even use the app because I need to log into the cloud...but when I do I get an error stating "Unable to retrieve appdirect subscriptions". Seriously. Can't even use it offline. Because it won't leave the prompt login screen. Also when I did have the app working prior to update ink to text did not work. Buyer beware. Great idea/product.... Really poor execution and support software.

by N####:

Installed this to pair with a bamboo spark... After an hour of brain storming on the pad I sinked what I'd drawn only to find two thirds of the page hadn't been captured / had been lost in the sync!!! Lucky I still have the paper copy - if I can't trust the gadget to store my work then it's a worthless gimmick and I'll just stick with an analog pen and pad!!!!

N70%
by N####:

Hopeless. Sync and data retention is now so unreliable that I end up re-capturing pages with the phone camera. This problem completely defeats the point of the device and app. Do not trust this app/service to safely store your notes!

U70%
by U####:

Now some note pages turned blank. Like wtf they can be really important notes! Why would us users have to put up with this sort of crap? I have made multiple complaints on your website, got the replies saying they are working on it, but are you though? It's been a duckibg year and you still don't have this crap cleaned up. Yeah better fcuking cloud, no fcuking wonder why some pages turned blank. I'm sick of this. With this attitude, you are only going downhill.

N70%
by N####:

Annoying. Can't remember device and I have to uninstall and reinstall every time it looses the connection. Great concept but terrible performance. Would be nice if Wacom put a bit more care into this

N70%
by N####:

Just tried the new update. With both this and the old version, I have the same problem of dropped pages during sync, and the need to repair the device almost every time I want it to sync. I am using it with the Bamboo Spark. The dropped pages is the most frustrating. If a sync gets interrupted or stops on its own, and then I write another page, when it syncs again, I lose all the pages in between. Other times it seems to sync everything but I look back and it's missing a page. I should be able to simply write and have it sync all the pages and keep them in order. How hard is this to program? I'm not asking for much here. I just want my digital notebook to have all the same pages as my paper notebook. As it is, the inconsistency is extremely frustrating for an otherwise innovative product.

I don't know about all the negative reviews from previous reviewers but I haven't experienced any issues using the app with my newly purchased Bamboo Slate. I do though wish there was more to this app like better editing options and maybe something targeted towards artists. Other than that I've had none of the issues others stated in previous reviews.

N70%
by N####:

This App, well quite simply, just does not work. I managed once, in over 30 attempts, to get the ink to text function to work. But, most of the time there is synchronisation to the cloud, infinte waiter when I click the ink to text option and basically nothing works. It is a shame as I bought a slate which seems to work well but without the app is useless so has been returned, a real shame as the potential here is great.

N70%
by N####:

Losses data and I have to pair my device every time when I want to backup something else automatic or manual sync fails. It is a complete waste of money, I am surprised to see something like this from wacom.

N70%
by N####:

UPDATE: It seems 2 things happened around the same time. The app was updated, and Wacom took down its cloud servers for maintenance. Customer support tells me the servers should be back up by end of the week. In the meantime, when you launch Inkspace, select "Work Offline". That will allow you to transfer your notes from the Spark to your phone or tablet. When the servers are back up, you should be able to sync your phone or tablet to the cloud. End update. No longer works. When I try to sign in, I get the following message: "Unable to retrieve all directions subscriptions". Please fix this! It would not have been rolled out without being tested!

N70%
by N####:

Worst update ever. Worked before version 2. Now it won't synchronize. The Bamboo Spark was great, but the new software update messes everything up. Now the Bamboo Spark is worthless.

G70%
by G####:

Sometimes pages don't sync to the app and just disappear. Currently having to take photos of missing pages of notes... which kind of defeats the purpose.

N70%
by N####:

Its the worst app ever. With the new update it works even worse. I don't get it, the device could be great and it's completely screwed by an awful app. I've been 30min trying to send a page by email.

N70%
by N####:

It seems Wacom hired whole bunch of idiots instead of developers. First, their cloud service was down for about a week to update it. Now, the updated app doesn't even work offline. I want my notes back

N70%
by N####:

UPDATE: I made a change a week ago and the app seems to be much better. I went into the app permissions and found that it didn't have storage permissions. I added that permission, and it now syncs and transfers. Sometimes I have to hit the button a second time, but it will link up and get my files. I upgraded my review from one to three stars. If it continues to be stable I may even bring it up to 4 - Not 5, since it sometimes take a second button puts to sync, and the background sync still doesn't do much. But at least it's now usable. In the meantime I'll leave my original review below. Absolutely awful. I've had this since last year and kept hoping for improvement, but it only had gotten worse. Early versions might not always sync, but I'd never lose data. In the current version, I'm losing 90% of my days. I have to constantly re-pair, but it will lose all but one page- usually. Sometimes it simply loses all. I've tried this with multiple devices. About the only thing I'm willing to lose from here is my interest. I'm going to shelve the device. Totally disappointed. I may try again in a few months, but making scans of my notes is a lot less work. I want to see better reviews before I try again. I used to like Wacom....

N70%
by N####:

As with the other reviews, useless. I just bought a really expensive notepad. It never syncs up. How have they not already released a new version of the app that fixes all these bugs or is the Bamboo product itself just terrible. Please don't buy a single Bamboo item or app. Save yourself the money and frustration.

N70%
by N####:

App is constantly crashing. Doesn't save your notes if you take a break, asks me to push the button to turn it on and then to push for 6 seconds to pair the device which does nothing but turn it off! I will be returning the entire thing

P70%
by P####:

Overall ok! Sync is not working... Notes also get lost! Have to resynchronize Everytime. Pls fix.

My wife bought me a Bamboo Spark for my birthday. With the original Spark app, the device performed quite well. Not flawless, but it synced to my Dell Venue 10 running Android 5.0; it stored my notes and jottings to my (basic) Bamboo Paper account; it did what it was supposed to. Then the Spark app was replaced by the Inkspace app, which...simply doesn't work. I can pair, unpair, and re-pair the Spark pen to the Venue, but the Spark doesn't connect to the Venue via Bluetooth anymore. Since Inkspace doesn't work, all I'm left with is an expensive notepad. The Dell has not been updated past Lollipop (Dell discontinued its Android line the year after I bought the Venue--hiss, boo). The only thing that has changed on my tablet is Inkspace in place of Spark. Would I recommend? No, I would not.

N70%

Cool app, coop device. Very happy with it. But please add ability to merge sketches. Can be handy when you update previous drawings. And integration with Bamboo Paper is unclear.

N70%
by N####:

I had high hopes for the Bamboo Slate, but this software crashes those dreams now than it does my notes. It stops syncing and you have no idea. The kicker is that it has only become worse with time. That also goes for the web portal. I made a new account to see if that would help and it doesn't even have the link to the ink notes. How can the Bamboo Paper app work ok and this app be so terrible. Why is there even two apps to begin with?

N70%
by N####:

Well, after much frustration with not getting it to sync, several resets (one of which made me lose a page), multiple readings of the two page mini-manual, competely useless googling, and staring at the app that has no manual functions at all; I finally figured out why my Slate wouldn't update. If you turn off your GPS because you want to save battery, or don't need to have your phone broadcast your location every second of the day, be sure to turn it back on before trying to sync because for some unknown reason Wacom needs to know where in the world your device is when you want to sync your Slate with your device. Ostensibly, the app wants to know where the tablet is in relation to your device and the orientation. Why it needs to determine or verify that with gps is beyond me. But at least it works now. I just have to remember which orientation I told it I had, or the helpful app syncs upside down. They seriously over-thought top and bottom and forgot I can always rotate it later if I need to. Dear God.

I70%

Doesen`t work, its a shame that a company like wacom can't develop a working app. So i bought a really expensive and total usles notepad.

T70%
by T####:

The app needs permissions, which are sometimes not granted by some Android devices. Go to the app's settings and grant it the permissions it needs and it will start syncing normally. Otherwise just use the live mode feature - it works like a charm.

B70%
by B####:

Dreadfully frustrating app that renders the hardware less useful than a roll of toilet paper and jumbo-sized crayon. Example of daily usage: First up; re-pair the pad with your 'phone because it won't remember it from before. Then read through the unskippable new products / news / how to / other irrelevant marketing for the umpteenth time terminating in another unskippable "Login to InkSpace" prompt. This redirects you out of the app to an AMP where you have to manually input your InkSpace login details (Every. Single Time.) you get a "you can now use the app!" message which is a dead end (no "OK lets go", no cancel, no options at all). Manually exiting the AMP browser and returning to InkSpace you are now re-presented with the "Login to InkSpace" prompt. This time though, it does absolutely diddly-squat. So you can't exit that screen, pressing "login" does nothing, clicking everywhere does, all-together now, NOTHING. So you tab out of the app and try to close it via the android pull down menu.... which also does nothing. Killing the app via settings or restarting your device is the only way to close it. Since the last update, old files cannot be accessed AT ALL, ANYWHERE.

N70%
by N####:

Does the thing. I would like to see in the next update the possibility to update an old (previous) note on both paper and digital.

N70%
by N####:

Updates break the app, mising notes, broken sync - does anyone test this code before it is released into the wild?

N70%
by N####:

The transfered pages are getting like interference markings. I tried on Apple product, it is working perfectly. I think it need an update.
