About Quick Check Mobile

Save time and money with Quick Check Mobile.

(Please be aware this App is currently not supported with Android 7, however we are working on resolving this in the near future.)

This application allows you, as a myWaitrose customer, to scan your shopping as you go using your smartphone. Simply scan and pack your items straight into your bags. You’ll see a running total of your spend on your phone, plus you’ll hear a beep to alert you to special offers. When you’ve finished just pay and go, with no need to unpack your bags at the checkout.

You will need a myWaitrose account number to activate this application. If you’re not already a member, simply sign-up at waitrose.com/mywaitrose to receive your account number immediately.

When using this application, you will have a better experience if you connect to the free WiFi available in the majority of our stores.

This application is for use in selected Waitrose stores. We hope to introduce to all Waitrose stores by the end of Summer 2016.

Occasional rescans
Quick Check was created to make your shopping quicker and easier. As part of the process, we’ll occasionally rescan your shopping, to make sure that you’re being charged correctly. Our Partners will assist you with this process.

Any questions?
Simply visit the Welcome Desk in store. We’ll happily show you how to use Quick Check on your phone.

We may, if necessary, remove access to the application in store, or remove the application from Google Play.

When I tap the "Scan QR Code" button to begin my shop, the app immediately crashes, every time. I can't do anything with it.

C70%
by C####:

Good idea, but doesn't work as well as the scanners. Perhaps there's a bit of delay because it's done over the mobile network? A few ideas: Scanning the store QR code could also automatically connect you to the store WiFi. Add an option to use screen lock. (my phone kept locking) Add the facility to store the receipt on the device rather than having a printed one.

Crashes when I attempt to scan my Waitrose card. Useless. HTC 10. Obviously not tested on newer phones. Update 4 Oct, app update is even worse, now crashes immediately when opened. Not tested by developer. Update 11th Nov 2016 now fixed and works fine, can be a little slow when looking up item but good app, pity we had to be the tester. Update 3/jan/2017 crashes almost every time I try and scan an item. Unusable. Update 6 Jan, now works again

Update 8th Feb: on a whim decided to uninstall, then reinstall. This seems to have fixed the crash-on-scan issue. Will see if it works otherwise next time I am in the shop. Update 8th Feb: Still crashes on first scan. Nexus 5. Update: Crashes when trying to do first scan. Useless. Previously: Given the negative reviews I wasn't expecting much but this app from the employee-owned chain worked really well (was connected to on-site Wi-Fi).

Tiny update of 1.5mb seems to have done the job! Successful shop with no crashes. Now to work on features like multiples when buying a few of one thing and also integration with PayPal so you don't even need to go to the quick checkout.

C70%
by C####:

The update seems to have resolved all issues, it's working really well now. I shopped this morning and it worked as you would expect, scanning the reductions too with no issue. Using Wileyfox Swift. Hurray!

C70%
by C####:

First in-store Wifi connection didn't stay connected for long enough for me to scan the QR code. Now I suspect it didn't scan my card as the barcode is slightly faint in places but unlike the pick your own app you cannot enter the code manually.

C70%
by C####:

While the crash issue seems to have been sorted it is a nightmare trying get it to focus on the barcode. The old version seemed to have a tap to focus function. Now gone. Just leaves new stood in the shop like a Gimp waving my phone an bag of coffee and getting cross.

C70%
by C####:

Seem to have fixed the crash issue will see how it goes. Annoying that you need to press scan item for each one rather than just continuously scan. Would be even better if it could utilise Android Pay app.

by C####:

Error code every time I try to use this. Far easier just to shop the old fashioned way. Running Android 6 on a Sony Xperia. Gave up today and uninstalled. I will wait at least 6 months in the hope that it is fixed...

C70%
by C####:

Always crashes. Usually at the scanning of the store QR code, but more recently QR works but scanning items barcodes fails. Phone can scan barcodes in other apps fine without crashing.

Has crashed continually over the Christmas period and have had to queue at the checkout. Hoping that the new update has solved the problem. Update : used today worked perfectly back to 5 *

C70%
by C####:

Was very good but no longer works at all. Have been using for months, up to about 10 days ago very few problems but now when I scan the QR code I get an error message - Cannot start shopping trip, error code 30. Uninstalling and reinstalling has made no difference and though staff at local store were very willing they were unable to help. No other problems with either phone or My Waitrose card so must conclude it is the app itself. Very frustrating and disappointing.

X70%
by X####:

The devs seem to struggle with managing memory and, consequently, the app crashes as its use of memory leaks away any desire my device has to run the app. It works okay - when it works - but requires a constant cellular connection in store or access to the store WiFi where a connection via the O2 portal is anything but transparent and will frustrate most users. Great example of a lack of joined up thinking and inability to empathise with end users.

C70%
by C####:

Awful, do not bother, you spend more time trying to get it to work than using it. The app' has only worked once in 3 months - every time I try and scan to start the shop I get error code 30 and nobody has been able to clarify what this means despite my complaining 4 times at the services desk. Have tried reinstalling 3 times but found it easier, quicker and far less frustrating to just not use it. Do not waste your time installing this.

C70%
by C####:

Haven't actually been able to use this app yet - each time I try I get the message 'can't start shopping - code 30' and no one at the help desk knows what code 30 is! Anyone able to shed some light?

C70%
by C####:

Doesn't work. Won't let you scan your waitrose card (s5). Just hangs. You normally expect better quality than this from the waitrose brand.

C70%
by C####:

Great app, please please just make it work without crashing people. One item scan per crash. Come on.

C70%
by C####:

Getting better. It took a month but you fixed the crashes I reported, so can I be a paid beta tester now? One shop completed since, halfway round app started telling me items not found, declare all to the cashier. Turned out to be store WiFi failed, switched to 4G and worked again. Better message needed when connection lost. Why does neither the app nor the new handset detail the offers visually like the old handset? Was really handy when tickets were missing. Can we have a "shake to show your my waitrose card" feature like the JL app please? Don't want to carry card but still need to show for coffee cup!

W70%
by W####:

Now it works again, I love it. If you scan an item that's part of a multi-buy offer, it alerts you so you know you could save money. Now it just needs mobile payment integrated and shopping at Waitrose would be a dream.

C70%
by C####:

Error message not clear enough if your Internet connection is down, also fails to recognise when you have no goods. Further, close button does not work, taking you back to the start.

C70%
by C####:

A few small changes would really enhance the user experience. 1) being able to start a shop without scanning the qr code, pick your shop from within the app. 2) not having to push scan again for each item, have the option to leave the camera on in a permanent scanning mode would be much much faster.

Google Pixel, android 7.1.1. Last update seems to have cured the constant crashing. It is really useful when it works properly.

R70%
by R####:

Used to like it but now crashes for every scan and nothing added to list of items, not worth the effort. It does not add anything to the shopping experience except stress. At the mo it's a pile of steaming dung. Latest: You have redemed yourself, it works again, so don't touch it, back to 5 stars.

C70%
by C####:

Update Jan2017 - All works fine and seems to be quicker only down side still is closing the app you still need to press a hard button and force closure after finishing with the app - still worthy of 5 stars though ......... works fine, except at end of transaction when you want to close app on the samasung s4 (and now LG g5) hiting close button takes you back to start and only way to close app is pressing the middle hard key and swipe it closed as soft back key doesnt close it like it did on last version.

O70%

Twice now I have been asked to rescan but my shop cannot scan the rescan QR code. Both times I have been blocked from using the app until I reinstalled. Might stop using it.

C70%
by C####:

Difficult to get this to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but now I can not close the app so my phone can't be used for anything else.

J70%

Started out ok but was awful over Christmas... Bad news for waitrose as I got so fed up I shopped elsewhere

C70%
by C####:

Worked flawlessly. Would be nice if you could search for items and recall previous shops

C70%
by C####:

The problem with the app not working following the Nougat seems to have been fixed, so the app is back working OK for me anyway.

C70%
by C####:

Not actually tried it since the latest update, but doesn't immediately crash now at least!

C70%
by C####:

Would be nice to be able to close the app! Would also be good to be able to select a number when purchasing multiple identical items, as scanning 12 packets takes a while...

Took WAY to long to fix the bugs in this app, but it is now working.

Error code 30 on Samsung S7. Never works

Since the last update no more crashes. Would be great if it could link to a shoping list

No split screen support

T70%

Easy to use!!

P70%
by P####:

Running perfectly on Android 7.1.1. Two more functions required in the app: 1. Shopping list - so that we can paste a list of items in and for that to be visible as we shop. 2. Digital receipt to save having to fold a receipt into the old wallet. Having shopped and paid with my phone I don't want a paper receipt. Good work Waitrose!

C70%
by C####:

Samsung S7. App crashes every time (literally) that you attempt to scan anything. Works when you tap on Tim app again, but only for one item, then crashes as soon as you want to scan the next. Eventually gives up altogether and requires complete phone reboot. Meanwhile, battery is draining at a ridiculous rate. Does store items faithfully, however. Not worth the bother. Get an update sorted, Waitrose.
