Swing By, Chicago Playgrounds

Swing By is Chicago's playground finder app, designed by parents with fellow parents and caregivers in mind.

Discover new playgrounds in your own neighborhood or easily locate new playgrounds when in other neighborhoods. Stop hoping to stumble onto a playground and find the one that's right around the block.

Search for parks with playgrounds using your current location or by Chicago neighborhood or address.

Upon opening, the home screen will display the number of playgrounds within one mile of your location.

Selecting 'use my location' opens a map that displays your location and all the parks with a playground within a two mile radius.

Selecting 'search by neighborhood' allows you to search for playgrounds by entering in a neighborhood or address. Select 'search' to open a map centered on your search location. If the entered neighborhood or address is not found, the map defaults to your current location and you can return to the home screen to attempt your search again.

The map is interactive and you can explore the map normally, zoom in and out, or rotate the map.

Selecting the marker on the map screen displays the name of the park and the park's address.

Selecting the Search My Location button re-centers the map on your current location and updates the map markers based on the new location.

Selecting Hybrid from the settings menu gives you a satellite view of the map with streets outlined. Zoom in to get an aerial view or park and playground. Selecting Normal from the settings menu returns you to the original map view.

Google Play Services is required to display the map. Swing By will attempt to detect Google Play Services when it starts and prompt you to install it if you haven't already done so.

Swing By only displays parks within the City of Chicago, not any other cities or suburbs.
