I wanted this app to work but... It does not translate anything. Either gives me 1 word out of a whole phrase or is unable to translate. :(

I70%
by I####:

I just spent $7 to upgrade to unlimited use, because I love the app on IOS. However, on my Nexus 5X the image is upside down. Waygo's engineers have known about this issue since 2016 and have not fixed it. Cannot trust that company if they don't upgrade their software. Sorry.

D70%
by D####:

It works when needed which is good but needs a few updates to add new characters especially Japanese. I use it to translate my car stereo but it doesn't always see the characters due to the contrast and zoom focus. I use a Galaxy S7 Edge.

L70%
by L####:

I could read simple katakana and the app had trouble translated even that. Got different results each time too. Maybe it only works on menus and street signs. Who knows? Hope it gets better. I'll continue to play around with it until it does.

P70%
by P####:

This app was a go to app while I lived in China. It doesn't do well with light text on dark background but used extensively to read menus and around when traveling.

D70%
by D####:

I own a Nexus 5X and have an issue with this app displaying my camera image upside down. I know the Nexus is a phone that has a different mounting methods than many phones but it seems that this app hasn't been updated to address this.

D70%
by D####:

Horribly inaccurate Japanese translations. Paid for unlimited translations and now I'm not using them because they are so horribly useless all the time.

D70%
by D####:

Worked well for the first ten translations, but wouldn't reset daily free counter. Not sure how much the full version costs, but I would seriously consider it for future trips to China

D70%
by D####:

Premium version doesn't work. Trial version worked once so i bought the full version. It probably will work once in a blue moon with bad translation. I did have data and it still doesn't work in Chinese or Japanese.

D70%
by D####:

Not sure exactly..what is going on. While focusing on a can of coke,a printed line of text and a box of crackers. All it does is provide me with very random words in English? Usually repeated, door, hit, month, lamb etc. What is the random words cycle flash?

D70%
by D####:

Cannot translate any label in a store. The translation is always changing, I don't have time to read it. Each symbol is translated separately. Doesn't recognize not black color.

D70%
by D####:

Works offline like a breeze although if Chinese characters are spaced incorrectly you may get a different translation

D70%
by D####:

Works fine for single words, won't recommend it to translate full sentences though. Makes my life in China way easier.

D70%
by D####:

Totally useless! Doesn't work at all. Google translate does everything should do and more plus is FREE.

J70%
by J####:

The camera view is upside down...so it is very difficult to use the application. The translation is OK.

P70%
by P####:

Its handy to have but only translates one line or a title of a document. Most places in cities have pinyin on the signs. Some what useful but really not a big deal. Could be better.

O70%
by O####:

I love it! It does not work with written characters but it is still great help when I need translate for example menu in the restaurant :) really big help.

D70%
by D####:

It looks great, but just doesn't work. translating the same piece of text on multiple days yields different results the camera function is SUPER sensitive, to the point that I was unable to hold my phone physically still enough. I tried translating still images to fix this, but I could not get the app to function from a still image at all, even when it (kind of) worked live. I also experienced crashes when trying live translation via camera sometimes I got a remarkably good translation of complex text and it gave me hope, but this was far from the norm I tested the app out against some pre-translated material (some translated literally, some translated by meaning) the unionpay chinese website was translated "kebab, 7 good choices" it translated chairman moa's name on the little red book; but the rest was mainly gibberish about doors, soup, hair etc don't even bother with stylized, blurry, dirty, poorly exposed text The app promises so much, perhaps it needs a "how to" guide to help people get the most of it in it's current form

E70%
by E####:

I find that this can't focus properly and very rarely works. It normally produces "Sorry can't find this translation" or produces something obviously wrong.

D70%
by D####:

Translation doesn't have any sense

N70%
by N####:

Useless. The translations, when they actually work, are ridiculous.

R70%
by R####:

Almost completely useless. Rarely able to recognize the text properly even after moving and resizing and focusing for several minutes. Less frustrating not knowing what something is compared to using this. I had super high hopes, but it is just miserable.

V70%
by V####:

In Japan and in desperation, I paid for the upgraded version. It was helpful perhaps one use in twenty tries. Mostly, it either said it was unable to translate, or provided amusing gibberish. Brilliant idea for an app, though. Hope someone creates one that works.

T70%
by T####:

It's unfortunate that it is not free however the 10 free translations should do you good if you have a basic grasp of Chinese of do not need to translate great chunks of text

T70%
by T####:

Took previous version to China and it worked perfectly. I just upgraded to versions 3 on my note 4 and it does not work at all and I cannot go back

V70%
by V####:

This app can't translate even the simplest of kanji. Would not recommend to anyone

T70%
by T####:

Show Stopper bug for Google Nexus 5X Phones. The camera image is inverted and renders the translation useless for this device. Looks promising. Please add Thai to the list of translations.

P70%
by P####:

It just doesn't work anywhere near being useful! It will give you different results each time even when you are pointing at large printed signs. I am in Japan and looked at a large very clear sign post which was translated as gummy near lips ??? I found that it does need a lot of light to get a reading especially in restaurants and you have to go to settings to turn that on. Maybe they add a menu or small print mode which turns on/off the light automatically (glossy paper and plastic with reflections really throws also it off as well). I didn't fully get to check out every feature as it got tiresome, but a good idea would be to take a snapshot of the image and then work out rather than continually hold it and watch it update (which gave very different results). I hate to give a thumbs down on an app, but when you're travelling in a country, you want it work as advertised!

T70%

Waste of time and effort. Maybe it will get better.

T70%

Google changed camera api for my phone please update app to work with my device. Will definitely but this after update

X70%
by X####:

Compete rip off, doesn't work at all as it does not translate the sentence but picks out what it thinks are words

T70%
by T####:

Will be going to China soon and thought I'd try this. Seems to work well on most tests that I have tried thus far about 90% accuracy.

K70%
by K####:

Very useful, but not always accurate. It can give you a good guess what the text is about.

T70%
by T####:

I can't get a single Chinese word out of this app. I even tried holding my breath and even standing it against the wall.

T70%
