CODIGO PENAL DE GUATEMALA
DECRETO No. 17-73
EL CONGRESO DE LA REPÚBLICA DE GUATEMALA
CONSIDERANDO:
Que se hace necesario y urgente la emisión de un nuevo Código Penal, acorde con la realidad guatemalteca y los avances de la ciencia penal;
CONSIDERANDO:
Que, además por la época en que fue emitido el Código Penal actualmente en vigor, se ha tenido necesidad de incorporarle, a través de reformas parciales, nuevas normas que han afectado su unidad y dificultado su aplicación y estudio,
POR TANTO:
Con fundamento en el artículo 156 de la Constitución de la República y en cumplimiento de las atribuciones que le asigna el inciso 1o. del artículo 170 de la misma,
DECRETA:
El siguiente CODIGO PENAL PENAL CODE OF GUATEMALA

WHEREAS:
That the issuance of a new Penal Code, chord is necessary and urgent to Guatemalan reality and advances in criminal science;
WHEREAS:
That, plus the time it was issued the Penal Code currently in force, it has been necessary to incorporate, through partial reforms, new rules have affected their unity and hampered its application and study
THEREFORE:
Based on Article 156 of the Constitution of the Republic and in accordance with the powers conferred upon it by subsection 1o. Article 170 thereof,
ENACTED:
The following PENAL CODE
