Customers can no longer sign up to Vodafone SmartPass. Vodafone will be launching a new and exciting payments service shortly.

With Vodafone SmartPass, you can pay for anything under £30 with your smartphone. Whether it’s for a quick coffee or a bite to eat with friends, there’s no need to rummage around for cash or cards - or borrow money if you’ve forgotten your wallet. Simply tap your phone anywhere you see the contactless symbol and away you go. Plus, you can check your balance or instantly add cash, wherever you are.

SmartPass is a payment card that is part of Vodafone Wallet. Vodafone Wallet is a digital version of your real wallet that makes it easy to store your SmartPass .We'll also be adding new features so you can use it to securely store credit and debit cards, loyalty cards, vouchers, tickets and more.

Customer support don't seem to know how to help (no contactless product awareness), smartpass support services never pick up the phone, emails are responded to purely to uphold SLA (nothing meaningful or helpful with first email) and since the withdrawal of the contactless cards, you now have to pay for a replacement NFC SIM Card, which also doesn't work. Makes a great way to save money and not touch it, but that's not the point of the app is it now

After a week of attempts and password resets I still can't sign in. My username and password are correct as I can sign in on the website just not on my device. I tried calling the number it gives but I get cut off after 2 rings. I call Vodafone support and they can't help. They try contacting the support line and even they get cut off. This is after a very long list of issues with Vodafone in general. If you say you have a service it should be provided!

I installed the app on Friday morning (it's now Monday evening)... filled in all my details... got the confirmation email... couldn't wait to try it out... The only problem is that I'm still getting the 'waiting for card' message in my Vodafone wallet so I can't test it...

Hugely unreliable. App keeps logging me out, but it only works when logged in. I was recently sent a new NFC SIM by Vodafone, which is supposed to let me use my phone to make payments without needing an NFC tag stuck on the back, but it doesn't even work in shops where the tag did.

says wrong login details. went to the vodafone shop and they aint got a clue. called vodafone and they also dont have a clue. whats the point in a customer help line or a help desk in a shop if you cant help. ill find a alternative contactless method

I thought this would be a good way to manage my contactless cards. You're supposed to stick and NFC card to the back of your phone. What's the point in having an NFC phone?

Poorly implemented and poorly supported. The reviews say it all! Why have two apps smartpass and wallet? Why do you need both username and password each time the app is launched? Why don't Vodafone staff know anything about supporting the apps? Apple, Google and Samsung will take Vodafone share in this market space.

It worked well on galaxy s5 , but after 2 weeks off trying to get support from Vodafone and constantly being cut off. I got through to be told that vodafone's flagship phone galaxy s7 edge does not yet work with smart pass!!! Trying to get custom support to provide help with both the smart pass and wallet is a joke , nobody seems to know anything about either. My wallet has been broken for 3 weeks and nobody can fix it ! Just been to the wallet also don't work on the s7.

Tried this a couple of times using galaxy s6, various outlets dont pick up NFC signal. So annoying as I had it working some time ago. Can't use with confidence, always make sure you have cash with you!

Useless app but better than the support. The app does not work. I have money stuck in my vodafone wallet which I cannot access. I've contacted support several times, been told that they are aware of a problem and will call me back within the hour. This never happens. Its a great idea but utterly useless.

Tried for 2 weeks now. Un installed 6 times. Umpteen calls to Vodafone and still nothing. I'm beginning to think that the money you preload is just for them to scoop the interest. If only they would do as they promise and sort it, more importantly, contact you instead of ignoring the problem.

Works after retrying and retrying, sometimes up to 4 attempts. Consequently, it is only useful on self service tills as on a normal till it is frustrating and embarrassing

Works on every daily shop I am using without problems.... nice to see I can now open SmartPass without going via the Wallet app!

Once upgraded the SIM card to NFC and migrated the card details from the tag to SIM card, you can remove the tag and the payment will be truly from the phone's NFC. There were some glitches during the card migration which took a few days.

Doesn't make clear during sign up that you have to load up cash onto a separate Vodafone account. What a waste of time.

When it looked hopeful that I was able to use my galaxy note 3 (due to changes with their compatibly) I thought great however that is not the case and the CS from the smartpass team was non existent and tried to refer me to Vodafone. So as Android Pay is compatible with both my phone and bank I am now using that instead

Well, i have been trying to set this up for sometime now and i get the error "Google Authentication failed. If problem .............". Called the customer care like 4 times now, but no one seem to understand what the problem is or proffer a solution.

Haha, oh Vodafone. My phone has built in nfc. I'm not going to slap some extra tag thing on the back of it. I might as well use my contactless credit card. Useless, uninstall. EDIT: as per reply from Vodafone below I got a new card. Still didn't work. Called and was told I'd be sent another one as this one had a "glitch" (ha!). Didn't receive one. Few other calls, decided it wasn't worth it and closed account. Totally totally useless.

After a period of inactivity they freeze you balance and keep it while you spend hours trying thier customer service, hoping you give up. DO NOT USE OR DEPOSIT

Will not install a card with the wallet app despite calling Vodafone approximately 10 times now. Each time the staff say the issue is sorted but the card still fails to install.

It's worth having. But the downside it's call security. It would be nice to have a fingerprint as approval before completely the payment. That's why I'm giving 3*
