Word Counter is a free and easy to use text tool for counting words, sentences and characters in your text. You can either copy the text into the app, write it in the text area or open a text from another app with Word Counter.
You will receive the following information when analysing your text:
- the occurrence of a word or phrase specified by you
- number of words
- number of characters
- number of chars without blanks
- number of sentences
- average number of words per sentence
- average number of chars per sentence
In addition, you can easily change your whole text to upper or lower case.

I downloaded this as a potential replacement for another app because this one has features the other lacks. I decided to test its accuracy and discovered that it counts hyphenated words and all words containing an apostrophe as two words instead of one. "Twenty-seven," "couldn't," and "she's" are all considered two words. That produces an innacurate word count, so I'll have to stick with that other app until this issue is fixed by an update.

I rated this 5 stars at first, but a couple of months ago I began to notice that there are ads that pop up whenever you open the app, and they fill the entire screen which is very annoying. Not sure if these ads have always been there or if they're part of some update. I don't mind the ads at the bottom, but the other ones are just a nuisance when I simply want to check how many words I've written. I downloaded this as a quick way to count words, but now I have to wait at least 5-10 seconds before I can use the app (because of the ads).

Nice features, sure. But a 10500 character limit gets to about 1800-2000 words, on average, which isn't gonna help me with my 5000+ words. Also, as a (beginning) programmer, count occurrences, UCase and LCase all seem kind of far too simple to warrant even a second star. Plus, ads, like others said.

simple and looks pretty, does what it says. can also change case. and seaech for occurances of custom words. i like it.
