YouView

Currently doesn't work at all because it fails to load the guide, and it now fails to schedule recordings since the UI update on BTTV. I also cannot quite believe that we can't simply use this to change channels on a connected box over Wi-Fi by pressing on the channel idents in the app. This is something that competing, cross-platform apps mastered YEARS ago on any number of internet connected Smart TV's. If you need a TV Guide app then there is little merit to this one, with or without a YouView box I'm afraid.

It's ok as a program guide and remote record facility providing you know what you want to record. But really let down that you can't remotely control​ the box using a remote app. Especially since I can't currently find my remote :-S

Unusable...cannot find my YouView box and im unable to set up via the manual code. Tried reinstalling to no effect.. App on the Apple app store works without a problem, so must be an issue with the android version

Generally it works well but 1) I've found search doesn't always find the programme. 2) Would be good if the channel number showed so you can quickly skip to that channel on the TV. 3) the app doesn't always open at the correct time line

Failed to record error more and more lately which defeats the whole purpose of this app. Can't rely on it at all as never know if that one programme I really want to see has actually recorded or not. Waste of time using it.

Does not have nearly as many functions as the sky+ app. Unable to delete any planned recordings. Unable to see what the box is already set to record. Cannot work the box from the app. The designers could learn a lot from the sky+ app.

The app worked really well. Unfortunately since the set top box had a big update recently. There's no longer any way to connect. Auto doesn't work and manual has no options to find device

Adequate but flawed. Doesn't appear to record a full movie/episode that is separated by the news/shirt feature as is so often the case on ITV. Several recordings have failed but don't know if that is the app or the you view box. Needs channel numbers and ability to filter/hide channel lists to weed out the dross. Needs some development time

Good for browsing TV channels to see what's on but the failure rate of recordings is 10-30% of the time and the reminder function doesn't seem to work at all. Sadly it seems you are unable to cancel a recording once set which is essential if you're anything like me and get carried away with the amount of programmes you record. A valuable app to record programmes whilst away as long as you're prepared for the occasional failure.

Slow. Takes over 10 seconds to partially populate. Cannot see recordings on the box itself. I was hoping this update would be better. Disappointed in a way, but hope they get better soon.

You can't link a mobile device to box unless they're both on the same WiFi network. Inexplicably the way to do this manually has been removed and so if you link the box via an Ethernet cable you're left in the cold and this app is pointless. It seems to be yet another terrible aspect of the recent software 'upgrade' for the desktop. A key function has been lost. That new software is genuinely dreadful.

Works superbly with my Humax box. Shame the bookings direct from the box don't show in the app. Annoying to have to scroll miles to HD channels.

Can no longer generate a code to connect to box and will not do it automatically. Why break something that worked?

I would would like a series link when setting a reminder of a programme so we don't have to do it each time. Also is it possible for us to choose how long before the program starts to notify us. Also it would be nice to change channel & have a remote built in so we can all the features all on the phone app.

Fantastic, yet simple! TalkTalk exceed my expectations and it's all free. This box is a beauty, I really am baffled by some of the other ratings.

Okay as a tv guide. Not everyone has a youview box with recording functionality. It would be good if the app took this into consideration instead of prompting to connect to the box on every launch of the app.

Worse than the old one facility for organising favourite channels has been done away with backward step in my view, very frustrating having to wade through loads of never watched channels.

Absolute rubbish 1 yr ok brill now for the last 6 months can not record anything from my phone updated as usual still nothing. If this is talk talks fault go back to sky.

Had a fault with the app (would not show schedules). Contacted Youview customer support and got fantastic service. Issue now resolved and app back to being one of the most useful I have. Great work Youview.

Fails to connect on any Android device. The app indicates a manual connection option that has been termed in the latest 'upgrade' to the UI. Troubleshooting info on the Youview website is useless. I'm going to Freesat!

Used to work. Now unable to connect to box

Used to work fine. Then my youview box had the big Non optional update. Now you can't connect the app too the box. I've changed phones and have now lost the functionality as there is no manual device add on the box anymore

Day/date randomly changes from overview and channel view, been like this for a fair few versions, when it going to be fixed

Why not include options to allow control of the youview box when on the same LAN, so that you can change channels and control the youview box via the app, in the same way you can with the youview remote? For the lack of this facility, I am giving a low review... But on a positive note, the app allows me to setup recordings and reminders when I'm out and about. The tv guide is quick to load and is easier to navigate than what is displayed tv via the youview box.

Terrible, guide doesn't load and keep getting timeout messages, faq page was as much use as using a colandar with large holes to catch flies. Don't know why I bothered, would give this app a zero star rating but I can't do that as ratings don't allow it

Desperately needs filtering and sorting of channels. At least give us a favourite channel option.

Works ok most of the time but it's too slow to be even a good experience. Also it doesn't always load all the channels - and as there is no refresh button it's not clear how to show them.

Wished I would have never downloaded this app and now I can't get my you view box. Goes into the loading mode and then nothing quick advice to all do not download this app

Won't connect to my YouView box automatically and they've removed the manual connection option from the latest version of the set top box software, although the instructions are still in the app, which is completely useless without the ability to connect to the box. Very frustrated and extremely annoyed that they removed the manual connection option from the set top box software. And they called it an upgrade!!!

Rubbish. Since Youview made hamsrung thier box you cannot add new devices.

Disappointing. Having moved from Sky I find this application has limited functionality compared to Sky+

Doesn't work, can't find box remotely and there's no option to manually connect.

Recordings fails when put it in on my android pad, now it's just a program guide.

Garbage utter garbage, just like the new interface on the youview boxes. It does not even list all the channels on the box

Couldn't get it to connect to BT TV box DTRT2100 running the latest software either automatically or manually. Not much use really....

Unreliable, Hit and miss doesn't always work. It says send booking to my box but, does not start recording or schedule at times.

After the upgrade and a change of phone can no longer connect via the auto connect and manual set up no longer an option. Disappointing

works well as a TV guide vs other free tv guide apps but it could be improved by syncing with the box so that the app sees what recordings have already been set using the box itself instead of just the recordings set using the app.

After months of the app not working and showing error YVM5004, I've reset the TalkTalk box itself and now the app works again.

Overall, I like using the app and the UI is slick. Occasionally the box doesn't receive the request but not very often. One suggestion, could you add the channel number somewhere so we can quickly switch to that channel without having to find it on the Youview box's guide first?
