الحكمة هي اكتساب العلم من التعلم أو من التجارب ويقاربها في المعنى كلمة الخبرة،
والحكيم هو شخصٌ عاقل يرجح الامور نحو الصواب بما امتلكه من خبرات عبر تجاربه في الحياة . وقد شهد تاريخ الإنسانية العديد من الحكماء العرب وغير العرب ،
حيث تعتبر جزءاً من التقاليد والعادات التي يجب أن يراعيها الإنسان أثناء تأدية أعماله اليومية بغض النظر عن الدين والعرق والقومية .
