Immer wieder ist pauschal vom „Niedergang der deutschen Fotoindustrie“ zu hören, wobei dies in der Regel plakativ am traurigen Schicksal einer Reihe von Traditionsfirmen festgemacht wird. Da kann man als Foto-Begeisterter schnell zur Überzeugung kommen, dass mittlerweile alles, was man beim Fotografieren in die Hand nimmt, aus Asien kommt – schließlich sind ja Produkte aus deutscher Fertigung in den Augen vieler Konsumenten grundsätzlich viel zu teuer.

Durch diese leider weit verbreitete Grundhaltung gerät in den Hintergrund, dass die deutsche Fotoindustrie – gemeint sind Unternehmen, die Produkte in Deutschland entwickeln und produzieren – so quicklebendig ist wie selten zuvor. Es ist verblüffend zu sehen, dass an vielen Orten in unserem Land noch „echte“ Menschen die Entwürfe der Ingenieure handwerklich in faszinierende Produkte umsetzen. Dabei steht das „hand“ in „handwerklich“ tatsächlich oft noch für richtige Handarbeit. Eine sorgfältige Auswahl der Materialien, ausgeklügelte Zertifizierungs- und Qualitätssicherungssysteme und eine nachhaltige Produktion sind dabei nur einige der Eigenschaften, die die Herstellung von Präzisionsprodukten von den Fertigungsmethoden anderer Ländern unterscheiden.

Davon abgesehen ist es einfach eine sinnliche Freude, beim Fotografieren perfekte Technik, hochpräzise Mechanik und edle Materialien in der Hand zu halten.
