The Onleihe – the free of charge service of your library now as an app, supports over 2.900 libraries.
With this app you’ll always have your library with you. Browse the collection of your library and lent eBooks and eMagazine on the fly or from your home directly with your smartphone or tablet. You can also lent eAudio and eMusic titles, listen to them via streaming or download them directly onto your device. Following the same principle as the web-based Onleihe, the lent titles can be consumed free of charge for a certain set amount of time. Afterwards the titles will automatically be returned to the library.
You can search directly throughout the app or browse the collection of your library through different categories and eMagazines. On first sight, you’ll see if a title is available and you can alter your search results with an wide array of different filter or sort options.
The detailed view of a certain title will give you all the information you seek, from the name of the book, the author, to the series name, length and much more. If a title is temporary not available you can also reserve it. As soon as the title is then available for you, you will get an e-mail notification to the address you specified. Your reservations are easily accessible with an overview and you can directly lent the titles if they are available. Should you no longer need an ongoing reservation or if you do need to change the address, you are able to edit or delete your reservations.
At any given time you can access your overview of your lent titles. At the moment you are able to lent, read or listen to eBooks, eMagazines, eAudios and eMusic titles.
ACCESS
To access the service of the Onleihe, you need to be an active member of a library who is part of the Onleihe system. Username and login credentials are provided by your library. Should you already use the Onleihe via the web-browser you can use the exact same login credentials to access the app.
CONSUME MEDIA
You are able to directly load and read all eBooks and eMagazines which you have lent beforehand. You are also free use a different external DRM able eBook reader. eAudio and eMusic titles can be streamed directly via the in app player, or you can chose to download the titles and listen to them later on, even offline. This also needs to be done directly via the in app player.

Funktioniert nicht: Data kann häufig nicht geladen werden; JSON Fehlermeldungen werden angezeigt; Lesen einer Zeitung geht nicht weil einzoomen nicht funktioniert; Benachrichtigungen funktionieren nicht; hat man ein Buch offline, das verläuft, und leiht man das Buch nochmal, wird die Datei nicht aktualisiert und die App kommt durcheinander. Speichern des Konto-Kennworts geht nur wenn man es bei Google hochlädt, eine Frechheit. So eine schlechte App wäre im Apple Store nicht zugelassen; schade dass bei Android anscheinend alles veröffentlicht werden kann.

Also alles in allem ist die App ok und macht was sie soll... Aber es gibt keinen "Nacht Modus" was richtig nervig ist und dann ist da auch noch dieset grüne Streifen immer da, wenn man im "Lese Modus" ist. Deshalb nur so wenig Sterne, da es so überhaupt keinen Spaß macht zu lesen und so auch die App nutzlos wird!

It is not possible to open books extern despite aldiko beeing installed. The bookmarks in books do not work. You have to look for current page every time. The are to many space above text on the page. It is only possible to arrange text horizontally. Book order in series is not handled at all.

I have difficulties to use the zoom when reading newspapers. Tried different iOS and Android devices but I can't properly zoom in. It is thus hard to read the NZZ on the iPad and nearly impossible on a phone (e.g. Notes 4 running Android 6.0.1)

The navigation has improved greatly but the integrated reader is poor for emagazines due to insufficient zoom. The letters cannot be read at all on smaller screens Other key functions from the previous version disappeared - no multiple accounts anymore. In the old version one could switch between accounts, which is not possible anymore - selective browsing not possible. Please reenable to browse by media type! E.g. browse for audio books only. Please update quickly or go back to older version!!!!

Reservierungen sind mir jetzt schon mehrere Mal durch die Lappen gegangen weil die App tagelang nicht funktionierte. Scheinbar bin ich nicht die Einzige der es so geht. Wird mal was dran geändert? Wenn die App mal geht macht sie Spaß aber das ist in letzter Zeit eher die Ausnahme statt die Regel. Schade und sehr ärgerlich und nervig. Wenn das Problem behoben wird werde ich meine Bewertung ändern.

The service itself is superb. The App is crap! Die Implementierung ist so dilettantisch, dass es eine Qual ist, ein längeres Hörbuch damit hören zu müssen. (Bis hin zum Schreibfehler im Prozessnamen...)

The only way to find something is by searching for it directly. Also streaming errors occur when trying to resume an audiobook after closing the app completely or rebooting. But my main questions are why the iOS app always worked completely fine when i was using it back in 2014 and why Android had to wait so long for the streaming feature. (Using OnePlus X and Android 6.0.1 based Resurrection Remix 5.7.3)

Slow, awful, app full of errors. Doesn't log you in for days, then won't display your titles, then won't let you listen to audio books. Error messages every 2 minutes. Takes up all your data just loading the start screen only to tell you it's not available. Horrible.

Cooler service aber die App ist ätzend. Sehr schlecht programmiert. Wenn ich z.B. Audiobücher via Sperrbildschirm pausiere und den Bildschirm wieder ausmache stürzt mein Handy sofort ab und ich muss es wieder neustarten. Zudem gibt es seit dem ich die App nutze immer wieder ähnliche Fehler, auch wenn ich Onleihe extra ausmache. Nervig und langfristig SEHR gefährlich für Smartphones. Schande.
