Mount Everest 3D shows the highest mountain of the world in a unique resolution on a smartphone or tablet. Take a look at Mount Everest from any angle and navigate through the area with simple touch gestures. For this 3D map high-resolution images of the WorldView-2 satellites have been used.
Follow the trail from Lukla to Mount Everest base camp and ascent the roof of the world via the Khumbu Icefall and the Lhotse flank. The world-famous trek is described day by day in every detail and illustrated with pictures.
If you are planning a trek in the Everest region, use the ProVersion. You can display your own position using GPS, record your track and store the daily statistics. The ProVersion gives you detailed information about additional famous treks and mountain peaks in the Khumbu National Park including the tracks to Gokyo Ri (5,360 m) and Iceland Peak (6,173 m). In order to use the 3D map on site without cellular connection, the data is available for download to your smartphone.

If you're serious about information and views of Everest then this is NOT the app for you, it has no up to date info and the images are useless, google earth has better 3d images. Its a disgrace of an app..

Really cool app. Very impressive! Unfortunately it crashes my phone completely (need to remove battery) after having used it only a short while (non-pro version). My phone is a Nexus S (1 GHz Single Core, Cyanogenmod 10.0.0 (JB 4.1.2)). It seems to be running the app quite well until it just completely crashes. Clearing app cache and data before using it will let me use it for a longer period of time; but eventually it will crash. I do not know whether or not it would work better with the pro version (in-app upgrade - about $6) which has the ability to download the 3D map for local storage. It would be nice with a vertical ascent/descent gesture (maybe 3-finger up/down on screen). I can only zig-zag my way up and down. Takes up 36 MB which cannnot be moved to storage card. If it ran properly on my phone it'd be a 5-STAR app :-)

Tried the paid version of this app on the Everest Base Camp trek in April (just before the earthquake). Had difficulties obtaining a GPS signal and therefore wasn't able to use it for navigating. Also bear in mind that usage depletes your battery and charging is not always possible in the lodges higher up the trail. Finally, be aware that even with the pro version the resolution south of Lobuche is very poor. So use this app for interest only when at home, it is NOT very useful while in the Everest region.
