ToneExtractor can decode DTMF (dual-tone, multi-frequency) signals back to numbers
The following are the frequencies used for the DTMF system, which is also referred to as tone dialling. The signal is encoded as a pair of sinusoidal (sine wave) tones which are mixed with each other. DTMF is used by most PSTN (public switched telephone networks) systems for number dialling, and is also used for voice-response systems such as telephone banking and sometimes over private radio networks to provide signalling and transferring of small amounts of data.

i have some speed dial numbers on my deskphone, but could not remember what they are, so I tried to use it to "listen" to the dtmf and tell me the phone number. But it failed. it could hear the tones, because i saw bars, but it could not tell me any numbers.

Good value for free program, but after 3 day testing is by opinion better another payed program which is more sensitive to decode and with near no error decoding from FM repeaters + possibility to send DTMF from keypad or from memory.

I do a few hacking challenges with a few friends of mine every so often and I am the one who does most of the phone stuff. This app is a great little tool that I use when I don't have my laptop around to see what DTMF tones are being played back in recordings or such. Best part about it is that it is free.

I tried for 30 minutes to extract 2 sets of digits and watched the display miss digits completely, double or triple others, and give erroneous numbers on some!

I love the idea, but couldn't get it to display any numbers. All I saw was a graphic display that is as hard to decipher as listening to the audio.

GD app but could be awesome if the values could be stored in a variable so that it could be used with tasker.....and no same numbers are taken just the next moment
