CMU Flite Text to Speech

When attempting to use this speech engine with Talkback, it doesn't speak consistently. It only reads certain things, such as the speech settings interface which makes it impossible to use it as a primary voice on Android. I'm working with a device called BrailleNote Touch which uses Android 4.4.2 with a modified version of the Talkback screen reader.

That being said, It is lower volume compared to googles built in, but their are more choices of voices, they are DIGITAL VOICES, remember, that they are not perfect, but getting better every year. GOOD WORK! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE LIST be able to RETAIN FAVORITE "QUIPS" A La Text2Speech. OR AT LEAST LET ME EDIT SOME TEXT FILE WHERE "A whole joy was reaping, but they've gone south, go fetch azure mike!" lives! And tell me how to find them [voice files] on phone, and what file type, allowing me to edit these files in audacity? Should be lots of fun (with my truck CB) with a PA speaker! You can change your voice and say all the fun things you don't want to say with your own voice and convert, to a feminine voice and play it in to the PA mike, while looking the other way, holding the Gal S3 & mike down low! What a scream! Got Kids? Use this for those told you a thousand times "xyz what it be" nags. Goldrush1

Even after installing the voices it doesn't work and you have to download the voices again and again.

The uk voice is so robotic and not clear at all

It's voice is worst i can't urderstand a single word in my mobile tts engine.

Guys, nice job taking this up as a university project, I appreciate it. But if you aren't supporting it anymore please update the description accordingly. The app caused my phone to freeze immediately after install, most likely in the anti virus check. The AV froze on another manual run as well and only went through properly when I un installed this.

Can't download voices it says downloading but nothing happens and when I try to chose it says please download um it's not working I'm gonna uninstall reinstall until u tell me why ide give u 5 if u say how

I like how the voices don't not standard accents and are more interesting, however I have to turn the volume up high to hear properly and all sound as if they are extremely nervous.

Yeah, they are a little scratchy compared to Google tts but the Scottish voice sounds nice and natural to me.

I went to Settings> Language & Keyboard> Text-to-speech Output & Flite is grayed out! I cannot select it as my default TTS Engine. I tried IVONA & got the same results. Running Android 4.4 on my HTC One. This sucks! I guess I'm stuck with monotone Robot Lady until this is resolved! Boooooo!

But good effort and this guys can make it good if they work hard.for now I think ivona tts is best.btw an huge update is must 4 this app.

Terrible recordings. You can't make out any of the words from such terrible sound files - which sound like someone has used a cheap webcam mic and tried to copy a recording off a scratched LP that's being played-back after being eaten by the cat.

I tried the other tts and I scored this high now it stopped performing when some1 calls it lapses other words I get missed call instead this was the best now im sad

It is rubbish for indian language and wasting the time, nothing tts apps available for hindi language

It was nice to finally liberate myself from the generic TTS voices that my phone came with that are all women! It's great to use navigation and not have a woman voice nag me to turn left!!
