Dhaka - a city of life! Around 25 million people live in this city. Everyday millions of life go out of home and struggle to reach out their destination since public transportation and traffic jam are a severe problem in this city. Riding on a local transport here in Dhaka is like winning a battle for the city dwellers! But it is not the end of the story, it is just the beginning! Because the war starts later on whenever they are to pay their transport fare!
There are several public transportation services available in the city e.g. Local Bus, Taxi, CNG, Tempo etc. And a Government fixed fare policy is also available for all the transportation mode. But unfortunately, you will not get anyone charging according to that. They charge whatever they want! No rules are applied here. Say for example, most recently Government ordered all the CNG drivers to charge according to the CNG meter. But after few days they went back to their usual practice of not bothering about the fare calculation meter and charge whatever they want.

On the other hand passengers are helpless since it is not easy for them to calculate the actual fare right away. So, the chaos goes on. Thanks to some of the app based transport service providers (e.g. taxi hauling, motorcycle/ bike sharing, ride sharing, CNG sharing/ hauling, car rental/ rent-a-car service etc.), who have come across and trying to provide some quality service in city’s transportation sector. There are many of them recently operating in Dhaka. So, it gives the passengers the convenience to choose the right one.
“Vara Koto” is an android based mobile app that helps passenger to calculate the estimated fare of any two given destination for all the transportation modes (local bus, CNG, motorcycle/ bike sharing services, taxi/ cab sharing services etc.). The intelligent engine of the app combines the fare of all the transport services in a single platform so that passengers can compare fare of two given destination. Thus, it gives them an idea on which mode would be cheaper.

App based transport service providers offer promo codes or discount codes for their riders on a regular basis. Vara Koto’s latest feature will also combine those codes so that the riders do not miss any. It will allow them to avail exiting offers like; special offers, discounted fare, free rides, cheap rides etc.

The developers of the app are working on few more exciting new features. Users will have train fare and intercity bus fare feature in the app’s upcoming edition.
