About Keepass2Android Offline

Keepass2Android is an open source password manager application for Android. It reads and writes .kdbx-files, the database format used by the popular KeePass 2.x Password Safe for Windows and other desktop operating systems.

The user interface is based on Keepassdroid (by Brian Pellin), ported from Java to Mono for Android. The backend uses the original KeePass libraries to handle file access to ensure file format compatibility.

Main features of the App are

* read/write support for .kdbx (KeePass 2.x) files
* integrates with nearly every Android browser (see below)
* QuickUnlock: Unlock your database once with your full password, re-open it by typing just a few characters (see below)
* Integrated Soft-Keyboard: Switch to this keyboard for entering user credentials. This shields you from clipboard based password sniffers (see below)
* support for editing entries including additional string fields, file attachments, tags etc.
* Note: please install Keepass2Android (non offline version) if you want to open files directly from a webserver (FTP/WebDAV).
* search dialog with all search options from KeePass 2.x.

Required privileges:
* Access SD Card
* Vibrate

== Browser integration ==
If you need to lookup a password for a webpage, go to Menu/Share... and select Keepass2Android. This will
* bring up a screen to load/unlock a database if no database is loaded and unlocked
* go to the Search Results screen displaying all entries for the currently visited URL
- or -
* directly offer the Copy Username/Password notifications if exactly one entry matches the currently visited URL

== QuickUnlock ==
You should protect your password database with a strong (i.e. random and LONG) password including upper and lower case as well as numbers and special characters. Typing such a password on a mobile phone every time you unlock your database is time-consuming and error-prone. The KP2A solution is QuickUnlock:
* Use a strong password for your database
* Load your database and type the strong password once. Enable QuickUnlock.
* The application is locked after the time specified in the settings
* If you want to re-open your database, you can type just a few characters (by default, the last 3 characters of your password) to unlock quickly and easily!
* If the wrong QuickUnlock key is entered, the database is locked and the full password is required to re-open.

Is this safe? First: it allows you to use a really strong password, this increases safety in case someone gets your database file. Second: If you loose your phone and someone tries to open the password database, the attacker has exactly one chance to make use of QuickUnlock. When using 3 characters and assuming 70 characters in the set of possible characters, the attacker has a 0.0003% chance of opening the file. If this sounds still too much for you, choose 4 or more characters in the settings.

QuickUnlock requires an icon in the notification area. This is because Android would kill Keepass2Android too often without this icon. It does not require battery power.

== Keepass2Android Keyboard ==
A German research team has demonstrated that clipboard-based access of credentials as used by most Android password managers is not safe: Every app on your phone can register for changes of the clipboard and thus be notified when you copy your passwords from the password manager to your clipboard. In order to protect against this kind of attack, you should use the Keepass2Android keyboard: When you select an entry, a notification will appear in the notification bar. This notification lets you switch to the KP2A keyboard. ON this keyboard, click the KP2A symbol to "type" your credentials. Click the keyboard key to switch back to your favorite keyboard.

A password manager is an essential tool in today's Internet and this app enables me to share databases with my preferred desktop utility, keepassx 2. I appreciate the developer's work on making the app pleasant to use.

Y70%
by Y####:

I love this OFFLINE password manager, especially with Keepass Keyboard, that allow me to type selected passwords directly from keepass to any app! It's so comfortable to organize, manage, navigate password database with all extra fields, allow to use special file as extra seed apart from password, and this OFFLINE version gives me comfort that it's limited for security (so I can manually backup/copy database file with preferred means). I had only good experiences with this app! I definitely love it!

Y70%
by Y####:

The nice thing is it's working completely offline… keeping your precious password database away from cloud services et al.

U70%
by U####:

A perfect client for the perfect offline multiplatform password manager! I recommend using the keyboard of this app for inserting the password instead of copy pasting your password, because all the apps can read the clipboard and that's why this app has a keyboard for that. Please update the screenshots, this app looks much nicer than that!

by M####:

I download this app named keepass2droid OFFLINE. But why it automatically enable online and upload my password database to cloud.

Great Android app for keeppass users. It would be great if you can add iris authentication for supported devices like s8 and note 8

V70%

ADD POSSIBLY FOR LONGER PASSWORDS ALREADY!! WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG?? 16 characters is nothing these days!

Y70%
by Y####:

Tested with Yubikey static password, syncing with Google drive, Syncthing, etc... So far worse great!

F70%
by F####:

Great app, does what it should and has additional features that just make sense, like a shorter password if the database is already decrypted. Thanks!

Y70%
by Y####:

Great app. Works likes a charm. Would be nice if it could also sync locally to my NAS than it would be close to perfect.

Y70%
by Y####:

I lost my cached database and thanks for no-auto-sync i lost my actual data too, cause my database file is old now!

Y70%

Helps keep things in one place

Always says 'invalid composite key' despite being 100% absolutely correct.

What i love is the offline capability. The best!

Attached image was decrypted, saved deeply in system folders and do not opened for view. No sence.

Y70%

The app is very easy to work with. I like it

H70%

Gotta love the restricted set of permission this app requires. Safest option among Android password managers.

Y70%

Best Keepass port for Android that supports kdbx. Though needs some UI design refreshments.

G70%
by G####:

Works with yubikey challenge on my mobile using nfc, how cool!

Y70%
by Y####:

I've used Keepass on desktop PC and other platforms for several years and I've never seen the point of using anything else. This is the most beautiful and well implemented mobile solution I've seen to date. I have to dock you a star, though: The virtual keyboard introduces a bug (into Nougat) that causes rough, notchy scrolling in other mainstream apps. Please fix.

Y70%
by Y####:

This app is the best thing since pb&j! I use it every day. Keep important notes in it with the passwords. Perfect, easy. Before I got this, I kept my passwords in a "secret directory." Some one hacked me and got into my dad's bank, my client's web, and my bank in one day. Nightmare.

Y70%
by Y####:

I use this in conjunction with KeePassX on Win10 and OS X and it does exactly what I was looking for! I sync my database file up to Drive and have all the same info on all my devices. Perfect for my mobile banking app - I can use a strong password and not have to stay logged in. This really hits the spot for a paranoid techie such as myself.

Y70%
by Y####:

Great application. Seriously, my biggest complaint is that the custom keyboard you can use to have an easier password cache access is ugly. Which is a far fetched complaint for a password manager

Y70%
by Y####:

Does what you need it to. There are a good amount of settings, an easy UI, and is very reliable. Only bad word from me is perhaps that the order of entries are not kept when using the database file from a PC.

N70%
by N####:

Still the best app for pw management. Although since I updated to nougat, it is having problems typing the correct password to some apps where-in the work around I found is to delete the auto-typed pw then hit the password button on the keepass keyboard.

Y70%
by Y####:

Handy, compatible with KeePass. But offline? When editing a message appears: "Permission denial...". Or "Could not save to remote...". Why the option to "Work online/offline" when it's the offline version?

Y70%
by Y####:

I use KeePass on my PC for ages. I use KeePass2Android as well, and it has everything I need on a phone. Offline version with minimal permissions is Highly appreciated nowadays. One thing though - I use the quick unlock feature (with 4 symbols) and if not used for a day or two, its service just stops/get killed by Android. I have other services like this which never stop. This is the only annoyance. Please add some high priority or something so I don't have to start it over every 2 days. I checked all the options. May-2017: one star down only for super annoying app killing by Android after one to two days, with Quick Unlock enabled!

Y70%
by Y####:

I love this app, but lately it began to stop working. Even though it has storage permissions enabled, it fails to open any file. (Permission denial)

R70%
by R####:

All you really need in a password manager. Online or "cloud based" password managers are just a bad idea. This is the modern version of a pen and paper notebook full of passwords.

S70%
by S####:

The auto fill keyboard combined with no Internet permission makes me feel safe (correct me if I'm wrong) you can always find a way to automatically sync the database between your devices without using the cloud.

Y70%
by Y####:

Great app. The screenshots are super out of date, it's all material design now

T70%
by T####:

The best! I donated, and I hope others do! When you get this quality for free, we should help him keep the great work up.

Y70%
by Y####:

There are good apps, there are great apps and then there are those that deserve unlimited stars! This one is the latest. Shame on those who gave anything but 5 stars.

V70%
by V####:

Stopped writing to the cloud. Now only reads. Didn't realise it's been doing this for 1-2 months, so every change I've made has been lost! Found nothing on the forums, can you help?
