2017년을 새롭게 시작하게 하신 하나님께 감사와 찬양과 영광을 돌립니다.
말 그대로 다사다난 했던 2016년도가 역사의 한 페이지를 장식하며 뒤안길로 물러가고, 이제 새롭게 한 해를 시작하게 되었습니다.

하나님께서 이렇게 새로운 출발을 하게 하심도 또한 은혜임을 깨닫습니다. 지금까지 잘못 살았던 것, 하나님 앞에서 바로 서지 못했던 것, 하나님 나라 백성답지 못했던 모든 모습들을 내려 놓고 새로운 각오와 새로운 다짐으로 한 해를 시작할 수 있으니 감사할 따름입니다.

국가적으로도 무척이나 어려웠던 지난 한 해를 뒤돌아 보며 우리 그리스도인들의 삶의 모습을 점검해 봅니다. 이 나라, 이 사회 곳곳에 있는 크리스천들이 과연 세상의 빛과 소금의 역할을 잘 감당하고 살았나…. 그렇지 못한 우리의 모습이 지금 이 나라와 이 사회를 이렇게 만들었음을 다시금 깨닫게 됩니다.

한국 교회를 걱정하는 목소리도 어제 오늘 일이 아님을 우리는 잘 알고 있습니다. 그 역시 우리 한 사람 한 사람이 올바른 기준과 가치관을 가지고 하나님 앞에서 살지 못했기에 벌어진 일이라 생각됩니다.

과거만 탓하고, 다른 사람만을 탓하고 있을 것이 아니라 새해에는 더 분명한 기준을 가지고 더 올바른 모습으로 하나님 앞에 바로 서는 우리가 되기를 소망합니다. 딤전 4장 5절에 있는 말씀대로 우리는 말씀과 기도로 거룩해질 수 있습니다. 우리 모두가 거룩한 삶을 산다면, 주님 닮아 거룩한 삶의 모습을 회복한다면 이 나라도, 한국 교회도 다시 한 번 하나님의 긍휼하심을 입고, 하나님의 은혜 가운데 회복되는 역사가 있게 될 줄 믿습니다.
지금까지 우리 참평안 교회는 그 어느 교회보다 말씀과 기도를 강조했음을 자부할 수 있습니다. 하지만 올해 우리는 다시 한 번 기본으로 돌아가려 합니다. 말씀과 기도에 집중하는 한 해가 되려고 합니다. 그러기 위해 우선 예배에 집중하는 우리가 되기를 소망합니다. 믿음은 들음에서 난다고 했습니다. 말씀을 듣지 않으면 우리의 믿음은 자랄 수 없습니다. 믿음이 자라지 않으면 아무리 신앙생활을 오래하고, 어떤 직분을 갖고 있다고 해도 하나님의 기준에 맞는 거룩한 삶을 살 수 없습니다. 그래서 새해에는 예배에 집중하는 한 해가 되길 소망합니다.

아울러 말씀을 읽는 한 해가 되기를 소망합니다. 올해 기초 성경공부는 신약 통독으로 대신하고자 합니다. 약 14주에 걸쳐 신약 전체를 읽는 시간을 갖고자 합니다. 혼자 읽는 시간도 반드시 있어야 하고, 분명 필요하지만 모두가 함께 말씀을 읽을 때 그 가운데 하나님의 크신 은혜가 임하게 될 줄 믿습니다.

아울러 각 기도의 시간을 회복하길 소망합니다. 예전에‘우리 참평안 교회 주일은 금요일부터입니다’라는 슬로건을 내 걸고 금요 기도회에 집중했던 적이 있었습니다. 이제 다시 그 운동을 시작하려고 합니다. 가능하면 금요 기도회에 열심을 다해 참석하여서 말씀 듣고, 함께 부르짖어 뜨겁게 기도하는 시간을 가졌으면 좋겠습니다. 그래서 기도하는 가운데 하나님의 임재를 체험하고, 하나님의 역사하심을 체험하는 귀하고 복된 시간이 되기를 소망합니다.

아울러 매일 새벽 드려지는 새벽 기도회와 수요일 오전 중보기도, 그리고 수요 예배 후 어머니 기도회 등 모든 기도의 자리에 가능하신 분들은 열심을 다해 참석하시기를 바랍니다. 기도가 살아야 교회가 삽니다.

사랑하는 성도 여러분, 2017년도 분명 우리 인생에, 그리고 우리 교회에 최고의 해가 될 것입니다. 무엇보다 말씀과 기도로 거룩해지는 우리 모두가 되어서 내 힘으로가 아니라 하나님의 은혜와 하나님의 힘으로 살아가는 복된 한 해가 되기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
