Créé en 1971 par Feu Sa Majesté Le Roi Hassan II, le Trophée Hassan II s’impose aujourd’hui comme l’un des évènements les plus prestigieux du monde golfique. Il a accueilli depuis sa création, les plus grands noms du golf international : Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, Gary Player, Payne Stewart, Nick Price, Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh, Severiano Ballesteros, Sam Torrance, Colin Montgomerie, Padraig Harrington et Ernie Els et plus récemment José Maria Olazabal et Mattéo Manassero.

Equivalent féminin du Trophée Hassan II, la Coupe Lalla Meryem a été fondée en 1993 par Feu Sa Majesté Le Roi Hassan II. L’évènement a accueilli depuis sa création plusieurs grands noms du golf féminin mondial, notamment Marie-Laure de Lorenzi, Laura Davies, Gwladys Nocera, Patricia Meunier Lebouc, Sophie Gustafson, Anika Sorenstam… ainsi que des championnes nationales comme Mounia Amalou et plus récemment Maha Haddioui.
