It uses a series of equations and averages to provide a reasonable suggestion for a goal weight and will tell you the recommended healthy range of weight for adult individuals. This should provide no functionality for an individual younger than 18 years old.

Whether you are losing or gaining weight this app can provide a target end point for goal-oriented people to fixate on. If you are abnormally buff or fit then it may not provide a recommendation that is applicable.
