About Jukestar - Jukebox for Spotify

Love great music and have Spotify Premium? Use the Jukestar jukebox to start the music democracy at your next party. Fire the DJ; with guest request and voting capability, now everyone can get involved in the music:
★ No one can hog the playlist
★ The good stuff gets played
★ The bad stuff disappears!

Create a party and share with your guests. They can now use their phone (without needing Spotify or an app) to make requests from the millions of tracks available on Spotify, vote for the songs they like and veto the songs they hate.

The Jukestar jukebox will automatically distribute the songs in the playlist based on who requested what, when they requested it and what other guests think of the songs in the jukebox.

Features:
★ Guests can request from the millions of tracks available on Spotify using their phone (without needing Spotify or an app)
★ Guests can upvote or veto any of the songs in the playlist
★ The upcoming queue is distributed and updated automatically
★ Guest requests will be spread out in the queue so everyone’s music gets played
★ The more guests upvote someone's song, the sooner it will be played
★ The more guests veto someone's song, the further it will move down the queue
★ When enough guests veto a song, it disappears from the queue
★ As a host, you can overrule any song
★ As a host, you can force any song to play next

The host app requires a Spotify Premium account (a 30 day free trial is available from Spotify).
Guests do not need a Spotify account and can use any phone, tablet or desktop device via the Jukestar webapp: http://jukestar.mobi/webapp

From my short test this should be brilliant for my wife's part. Suggested improvements allow cross fade between tracks and provide remote control of the host, via a phone.

Just tested this out; worked flawlessly. What a great idea, will use at my next get-together.

Over the last month I've used this several times without issue. Up to 12 different people requesting songs without a glitch even when using a mobile hot spot as our Internet connection and everyone requesting through cellular service. Awesome app the works!

I wish you could load a playlist from spotify and only let songs play from that playlist. you could have a notification to the admin in case a song is been request that is not on the list and admin could choose to add it.

Easy to set up and use - great way to get the music people actually want at work, parties etc.

Love the app. I've tried many jukebox apps. This is the best one.

Q70%

Makes you jump through numerous sign in hoops (facilitated by the 'sign in with Facebook' backdoor to your email and password for mass -marketing purposes. Once you FINALLY set it up (after an onerous process of password verification), they THEN tell you that you need a PREMIUM Spotify account to use the service (THAT YOU JUST WASTED 20 MINUTES SETTING UP) This is a devious and well-crafted dragnet scam to funnel interested people browsing Google app downloads to blindly surrender ALL log-in credentials. ☣

I had installed this app then it got all wonky. I contacted them and they worked on it until they got it fixed. It has worked like a champ ever since and I'm so thankful the lads or lasses took care of it. Any time I have people over, the first thing I do us create a party and share it with guests!!!!

Q70%

All guests were able to connect easily to the link I provided and request songs. It made the dance floor a hit. The only thing I would possibly add is the ability to have the master device controlled or linked to a secondary device. That way I can control what people play without having to run back to the master device. This isn't a complaint by any means. Keep up the great work.

A great, simple to use yet functional app, well supported by the developers who are clearly keen to keep further improving an already very useful suite of software. The web interface for party guests makes it really easy for anyone to choose songs regardless of what device they are using. The app to host a party is very straightforward to set up. Thanks, Peter

You can't really access much without a premium account. I wanted to see if this would work for a party but I don't want to sign up for premium and decide that this wouldn't work. Basically I want to be able to see all the features before commiting to a premium account.

This app had been awesome, and we would use it frequently starting in May 2016. Then an update introduced big problems that prevented this app from being usable in late 2016. I tried it again for July 4, 2017, and it worked again! We were very happy: our neighborhood block party loves this app. With it not only can we have a good mix of music, but everyone has a say in what plays. The social aspects of up-voting, down-voting, and generally ribbing friends for their selections makes for a fun addition to the party.

Q70%
by Q####:

Deleting it! It doesn't let you upload playlists from spotify to get things started, and all I want is an app that let me play smoothly part of a song. I have my party playlist, but most songs I want to play maybe a bit-part of it and skip to next with crossfading, no app so far is able to do that. If you ever do it please notify me! Thanks!

This app solves a great problem. I downloaded it to test after spending a fun night with friends listening to a bunch of music. Problem was that we all had access to the host's Sonos app, which was great, but we could override each other. End result - we heard about 30 seconds of a lot of great songs. After experimenting on my own with a couple devices I am confident this will prevent that from happening next time. And the up/down vote will make it even more fun. The algorithm is very democratic, making sure everyone gets their songs played. True test will be in a couple of weeks when we try it out at our big neighborhood Memorial Day party. Developer feel free to contact me for feedback.

Fun App for Parties. Just fix the edit party feature which makes the app crash every time I try to use it. Other than that great app

Q70%

Really like the concept, but cannot search for my party on the web app. Everyone I search I get "Error loading"

Q70%

Had problem with registration / login - fixed with removing diacritics from nickname. The UI is laggy and unintuitive. Otherwise works.

This app provides a service that should be built into Spotify. Can't live without it for parties.

This is so good and works so well. Tried loads of other apps and this one works the best. The only thing I wish it did was allow to be able to Spotify air to my onkyo so I'm not limited to using the Bluetooth or aux cables. But I'm not sure if that would work

Q70%
by Q####:

Brilliant. Ignore the idiots who don't read the description properly, yes you need Spotify premium but that is clearly stated. Otherwise, the app is slick as you like, brilliant for parties etc.

Looking forward to trying this in the wild at my wife's birthday. I've been testing a bunch at home and it's pretty much flawless. The only thing I could suggest is streaming from a local source (host only). I have a bunch of rare tracks that are not on Spotify, but that's just nitpicking. I'm sure this will be a hit at the party.

I spent forever trying to find an app that does what this does. Let me save you some time. Jukestar is the way to go. Does exactly what it should and does it so well. Easy to use. Anybody can get involved with no extra set up. Thank you for creating an exciting new dynamic in our office!

Integration with other providers would be a nice touch. Also continuous music would be amazing hate it when a song stops then there is a pause before next one comes on, In my opinion this why I can only rate it 4 stars.

I can't seem to change my suggestion playlist in settings. It lets me select the option to change but only shows me one playlist to choose from. Am I doing something wrong?
