Really great and elegant app. Distraction free is pretty up in the air but still better than other apps. The only thing missing for me is, word count. Please add it in the top left corner, similar to how jotterpad has it. That's it. Love the app and can't wait to see how future development turns out.

No letter-by-letter auto-saving? A beautiful app that is a joy to use. But for that during one session it abruptly crashed. When reopened, hours of my typing had been lost w/o chance of recovery. Occasional crashes would be acceptable if there were a constant auto-saving feature, or if such were functioning properly. But despite how nice the app is, the stress of not knowing when I'll lose hours worth of writing, or of the obsessive saving needed to allay that fear, defeats the idea of "focused writing".

Basic ability to search by file name & keyword is missing. The dev drags his feet in releasing new updates & features. It's like he doesn't care for Android & we are 2nd rate citizens. Use Evernote instead!

E70%
by E####:

THE best writing and note taking app on Android, period. Especially if you need syncing via Dropbox or Google drive. The only thing missing is a full text search functionality. That would complete the app in my view.

T70%

The focus view mode is really innovative! There's a night view mode included too. The top bar functionality is not very intuitive.

T70%

A really nice distraction free writing app. I like the way you can simply sort files into folders and publish online (Medium-Wordpress). And Dropbox/Google Drive are even easier: they're listed in the locations where you can save your files and sync automatically. The files stay available when you're offline. Good stuff!

Perfect little editor. Hope they keep to the Linux philosophy; does one thing well.

I like this app because you can make your own story and you can do it how ever you want

Does this app really have a max character limit??? I have a 4500 word file, this app can display about 90% of it. It cuts off in the middle of a word, and when I enter more characters, they're not displayed. This can't possibly be an app for serious writers if it won't allow you to edit longer works.

As above it is mentioned like clean environment to write. No,it's best environment to write.

I love the App, could the management please proceed to make it poetry writing friendly. Like in terms of stanzas on display... Thanks. I love this app a milli

Excellent app. I'm writing a novel and keep this on my tablet and phone to make notes anytime, anywhere. I would be lost without it.

Best writing app ever.

Beautiful editor.

This is an awesome app. The markdown keyboard is definitely the best. I think the devs should go more material design. I think the scrolling interface is unintuitive unless you hide the top bar. If that bar is kept you might as well add icons so the functionality is clearer. I guarantee the interface is why people might not be buying this app over similar apps. What works on the iPhone doesn't always work on Android. Oh, and it would be amazing if you would add syntax highlighting.

Great!. No-frills app that helps me get to my daily word counts faster! I find that I prefer to use a bluetooth keyboard and my phone on airplane mode to a full laptop now! Bravo! Keep updating the Android app please! Y'all do good work! Keep it up! BTW I wish there was a donationware option for this app. I wouldn't have found it if it wasn't free, but I would love to throw a dollar or two your way!

For minimalistic writing, there's nothing quite like it in the Play Store. The fonts, the focus mode, the general user interface are all very well done. But a couple of things are missing from iOS. Why no table of contents? And lists don't support code blocks. Hmmmm, I use that on Mac. And perhaps search won't be a bad idea if create a lot of documents. Of course, you might not notice these if you have not used the Mac or iOS apps. But I do hope the devs are listening and will add those things too.

It crashes frequently, which deletes unsaved writing. It spams me with notifications of it crashing multiple times a day, even when it's closed and i haven't opened it in days. I'll change my rating back to 5 stars when it's fixed.

When Editing the files #on a pc via Google Drive (using Google chrome) the files #don't save and end up being duplicated. Then edited them manually by sending the pc/final version through another app. When saving he then duplicated it with a file name ending with #conflicted+date. Some fix for that?

Started using Jotterpad initially, but its markdown rendered strangely on my android tablet. Downloaded iA Writer instead. Nice, very Nice. I like the workflow setup: Files > Editor > Preview > Export. Very slick. I've really got into markdown more using this app. Can't see any problems with anything that is there already. Google Drive and Dropbox work fine. Private Local through me to start with because I couldn't find it with file manager. But then sussed how iA Writer manages files. Happy. One Request Gets That 5th Star: * Could iA Writer use relative paths for locally stored images? This would make the files / folder structure much more "transferrable" to other devices. I would imagine using HTML rather than markdown would (possibly) get around this, but it would be nice to have. Otherwise, very good job Information Architects!

This may be my favorite writing app. I love the idea, the font, it's simplicity. Just all of it, is awesome. However I do wish for more features. Like definitely a spellcheck option. But other than that, perfect app for writers. I do have one complaint, and that is, I wish this app connected to Google accounts. So, I wouldn't lose documents. And I wish when I do have it connected with the drive, that, I, can work on the piece on my drive. But it doesn't do that.

I was able to write a sample dialogue and post to G+ almost immediately (the feature I am most enamored of). Haven't been able to since. Could you make it easier to do so? Would gladly pay for this app, by-the-way.

T70%
by T####:

I really like iaWriter, being using it for ages on mac, however, the android app is missing a simple yet crucial feature: typewriter mode. I need to see the text in the center of the screen... without the focus thing on. :(

T70%
by T####:

This app is awesome, but I need the "true black" feature. The night mode is pointless without true black, plus I've got an AMOLED device, so I wanna save as much battery as possible.

O70%
by O####:

At startup iA Writer shows a snow white screen for 2 seconds. Kinda annoying when working in night mode. I noticed that it can handle huge files which is a plus but there is no **word search** option. Hint: Change the **Device** from **private** to **public** if you want to access your files; with a file manager.

The tables still look very ugly. Specially when two adjacent columns are having text aligned(left column with right alignment and right column with left alignment), it is very difficult to distinguish between data of the two columns. It would be much better if it would download images from Dropbox if the file path is relative. And maths rendering would be lovely. And it doesn't detect windows new lines. As the files edited by notepad and having tables is simply shown as a long ugly string. Please fix these.

T70%
by T####:

This little app removes any friction in being able to blurt out as many thoughts as you can. It allows you to continue to write as much material as you can on those given moments when you simply feel like writing. Afterwards, though, you might need another software to actually gather all of those thoughts to edit and make something out of them all.

T70%
by T####:

Unfortunately the latest version(s) appear to have a major DropBox sync issue that means that my text disappears regularly as I type. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. It's currently unusable.

V70%
by V####:

Overall, it's very useful and easy to use, but I have two complaints. 1) It crashes and restarts to a new document everytime I rename a file. While it only lasts for a second or two, it can get reaaally annoying especially if you're a person like me who changes her mind often. 2) Why can't we change the font while editing it? Is that a feature only available in the paid version?

M70%

IA Writer is my favorite writing took ever. Used to use it when I was a Mac user, it was one of the few things I missed. Now I'm all Android and it's out for Android! Amazing!

T70%
by T####:

This app is so well developed it stops on a dime when a user deletes text with the back space key. I've never seen an app that could stop so quickly. It's also a great HTML editor.

M70%
by M####:

Instant preview, auto save, and link to Dropbox fit my primary needs. Flavor choices would be nice. The scroll across the top menus are less than ideal, but tolerable. Overall a very well made and useful app. Great work dev.!

T70%
by T####:

This app--unlike other markdown editors for android--boasts the ability to open and save files outside of the main app library, even syncing directly with documents on Google drive and drop box. None of this works. The "Open from..." option in the main menu does not open files. It instead opens the menu for saving files--even though there is no file to save. This is basic stuff.

T70%
by T####:

Documents mysteriously sometimes don't save completely; when closing and reopening the document/app sometimes, I find documents that only have half of the content I wrote gone. Could be a sync error, but I feel like it happened even with local documents once. Otherwise, the app is quite pretty, though it is a shame that there's no way to edit dropbox/google drive documents offline.

R70%
by R####:

This app is almost perfect. It's simple, clean, it syncs with Google Drive for cross-platform work and it supports all the important Markdown features. What's missing (for me) is a table of content, though. When editing very large documents it's sometimes tedious to scroll through hundreds of screens to find something, if I could have some TOC organized by headings that would be perfect!

A70%
by A####:

This is a great app that works beautifully. The *only* thing I could ask for is a global search field. Add that and it's a 5 star app all the way!

O70%
by O####:

Professional, with full MultiMarkdown implementation. Highly versatile machine that is ready for tasks as simple as note-taking to documentation and essays ready to publish. Best of all, workflow is packaged in a manner that is simple to understand and get used to.

I bought the MacOS Version to set it up to sync with this, but nested lists don't display properly on the Android version....But they do on the MacOS version. All my numbering systems are out of whack. Help!!
