About Pottery Logbook

Pottery Logbook is an electronic diary for the potter.

A mobile Pottery Logbook diary which keeps records of your ceramic pieces. Did you ever had the problem that you have created a nice piece and when looking later onto it then you cannot remember, how much clay or what treatment, what glaze or firing? You are having a class or a workshop and you want to keep a record of what you learn, pieces which are demonstrated.

With the pottery logbook you can make a picture, add name and description. Give it your personal rating to highlight pieces which are good or not so good. Select the clay body or add your own clay bodies to the list. Keep a record of the weight, the dimensions and any slip or other surface treatments. Log information about Glaze applications. Insert information and notes about firing. The Pottery Logbook remembers always the latest entries, so you can quicker insert your information.

The main screen lists all ceramics and offers the user a search functionality. Users can define the foreground and background colour of the application and reset to default colours. With the Share function a ceramics entry can be shared via email with all the details and the pictures of your ceramics to a lot of other social media platforms.

Show your friends via Facebook or Pinterest what beautiful ceramics you have created. One click only.
I am a potter myself and this is the first mobile application I have developed together with my husband. Please let us know any thoughts or ideas to make this tool more helpful for you. We appreciate any feedback! Thanks to the pottery community. We have another project in mind as well to keep record about your firings. We will let you know once it is ready.

All my data is lost!

It only uses metric units, cm and kg, not inches and pounds. No option to use English units. I can't figure out how to add more pics. I would love to be able to set a default that applies to most of my pieces so I don't have to add it each time. For example, I used the same clay body for 99% of my pieces, Standard white 240. It would be great if I could make that a default for all my pieces so I don't have to type that in every time.

The info is great. It's easy to use, but the backup isn't working and I don't want to put a lot of time into something I can't transfer. It says, "This application cannot link new users. It is frozen pending review" which is worrying. Update 8/2 the back up function is working now. I've already found another solution that works better for me, but this app is very straight forward and easy to use. For simple record keeping I think most potters who are not techie will love the simplicity.

Why is my account saying frozen pending review when I go to back it up via drop box? I just started using this app more & love the features, I find it very useful for logging my pottery glazing. There are just the 2 things, I wish the back up would work & I would like to be able to organize my pieces somehow. The favorites rating is awesome but I have numbered test tiles & entered them all out of order & would like to be able to rearrange them. Other than that I do like this app a lot so far. Please help.

this app is a great idea BUT... when I try to add a photo, I press the camera icon at the top and then it says: "select source". So if I click on the camera icon it opens my camera, and then I take a photo, but nothing I do imports that photo back to the app. I've tried clicking the blue checkmark and each of the other buttons, Each puts me back at the Edit Ceramic screen, but without the photo. SO I tried clicking instead on the download files on the "Select Source" screen and then I can import a photo that's already on my camera. So is that the way to do it? It works but it's not as convenient. I have a Google Pixel phone

Great for keeping track of studio pottery from drying to bisque to glaze and final firing. Can add multiple pics too. Drawback i cannot get dropbax to work so i get no back up. Wisg it backed up to phone.

Really love this app, wish there was a way to move stuff into different folders. Aka completed, idea, working on...etc. For me that's the only piece missing, I use this with a sketch app so my ideas folder can easily overtake my active projects.

Overall nice app. Good if (1) could store mult pics of each pot. Great if (2) info & pic of finished pots could be saved on my PC for long term records.

This app provides a potter a means to track projects an can give students the ability to track pottery treatments so that they don't have to remember what they did to achieve a specific effect. This is particularly important for glazes. Users can upload a back-up of the entries into drop box so the information will not be lost. I am not sure how to download the info back into the app. What I have tried does not seem to work. A help utility might be useful. I am unsure if dimensions are in metric or inches.

Thank God, been waiting a long time for this, thank you. Yet being greedy, next wish is the ability to add (or just link) video. I oft record video when trying new decorating techniques, as it captures brush strokes, viscosity etc etc and also allows for narration of verbal notes - very valuable! This app is still easily worth the tiny expense so far even without the above. Hmm... printing and/or export function also be handy. Keep up this wonderful work :)

Great app but I can't back up to drop box. And it would be great if you could make it synchronized across devices,so it can run on my phone and notebook.

I've just downloaded this app and would happily give it five stars if it permitted the option to share the data across multiple devices. I saw from your Jul 2015 reply to a similar question that sync isn't possible now but may be on the next release - any idea when that will be? I have it on my tablet for easier data entry, but the device I travel with is my phone, and it would be great not to have to make the entries twice.

I like this app very much. It is conveniently loaded on my android phone which is great to take to the studio with me, but at home I would like to see it on a larger screen. I have a standard PC, but I would really like to see it on my IPad. Any chance I will ever be able to do that? Also, I have not figured out how to take multiple pictures yet. Is that because I have an older version?

Nice app for tracking Pottery work. My issue as a dumb American is the need to convert to metric for measurements. I suppose it would do me good to think in metric units, but still painful. Any chance of a setting option to default to our US customary unit standard? And Stefan, can you tell me where Pottery Logbook stores the pictures one takes with the app?

I downloaded this today. Ca n't add multiple photos. Help please!suggestions: 1)add wet clay dimension fields 2) add folders to put similar projects in 3) add a copy feature for similar projects with variations for dimension, surface treatment or glaze 4) add ability to search or sort projects. Keep up the great work!5) can't enlarge the photo within the app or find it in photo gallery to enlarge. Am I missing something?

Great easy to use app for keeping track of your pottery and glazing. Open the app, hit the + sign, take a photo, fill in the suggested notes - title, description, glazes, clay body, firing process & temp and more. It even backs up to drop box (though I haven't tried that yet). It also allows you to pull an image from your "documents" - which for me is the camera shots I've taken before on my cell or tablet. But I wish is would sync over two devices - so I could see it on my tablet or Phone. Also Question - do I have to bu it again to download it for my tablet?

Just downloaded this app with great hopes -- I'm on a Nexus 5 and it won't load any pics from the camera, and won't do multiples from documents.... What am I doing wrong?? This looks like a great app!

Very nice design for the software but I am having difficulty with multiple photos of the same project. Taking a new photo overwrites my last photo. It shows arrows as though I should be able to scroll thru but it doesn't change the photo.

Pottery Logbook is well organized and seems to have all the information I would write in my journal. I agree it would be nice to have more than one picture but I usually only do one sketch in my book. Now it will always be handy on my phone. Wish I could link with my tablet too. Look forward to more updates and kiln log. My other pottery friends like the idea too.06/29/15 Thanks for the multiple pics. I haven't tried linking to Drop box. Would be great to sync multiple devices but not sure how hard that would be.

Tracks the info I'd want to keep in my files. I really really wish I could sort the entries by name or glaze or clay body.

I am doing pottery and just finished my Diploma in Ceramics. I try out a lot of different things and often could not remember afterwards how i have done it, what glaze used, how much clay and so on. I asked my hubby if he can develop me a mobile visual diary. So he did and it is a great helper to me. I can also quickly share my entries with others per mail or post the picture on facebook or instagram. Thanks to hubby for developing it. Great app! Cant wait for the kiln app.
