Force closed on Nougat. OMG nest home and away automation is terrible still! Help

Does not work with Nougat 7.1.1 on Nexus 6. Force close immediately on open every time.

Nest application down to 3 stars. This should have been implemented by them for 2 years now.

This seems to work great (thanks for writing the app!) apart from the fact that it tries to set my state as away multiple times a day when I'm not there. Could it query the current state and not try and set as away if already away? Having Android notifications on means I get a notification every few hours or so about the state being changed.

In the history, you can see it puts Nest in away mode one minute, then puts it back to home mode in the minute! All while I'm in bed! This keeps going on in the middle of the night while my phone is charging and connected to WIFI. I would wake up in the middle of the night because I'm cold even under the covers. The app shows I'm in the geo fenced circle! Edit: Soon, please! I'm cold!

Only issue I run into, is that the app seems to have uninstalled automatically from my phone, but I can't blame the developer for that. I had one small issue at setup time, a quick email to the developer resulted in a fix within 12 hours. Love this app

Force closes instantly when trying to open on the Nexus 6P opted into the Android N Developer Preview 3. Not going to rate down for this, as it seem excellent. Hopefully it updates to support Android N, or future versions of Android N work with it!

It crashed on me on first startup. I fixed this by going into settings, apps, coming home, permissions, and granting the app permission to location and storage.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems if you have more than one person living in your house, your auto going to away when one leaves. I have two s7's, one signed in with one nest account, the other signed in with another sub account.. if phone A leaves the area, and phone B is still there, it still triggers away mode. Aside from that, if you live Alone, the product will work great.

Can't understand why Google Now doesn't work with my Nest. This app switches between home/away as expected and faster than the Nest. Thank you for creating this app!

Good app, better than auto-away, but uses a bit too much battery.

FC on Android N but otherwise it worked well. Even with Google making improvements in their auto away this just worked much better

Great App!

2 users each on Samsung Galaxy Note5. Worked great at first. After a few weeks, it hasn't performed a correct action since. I set radiuses to numbers that should have eliminated false aways entirely. I left the notification settings all on from the beginning specifically to monitor behavior, it keeps showing the away delay sometimes as often as every 5min. Also stopped setting Home, even after waking my phone and standing in front of the Nest for several min. Huge thanks for making this app nonetheless!

Anyone else experiencing battery drain with this app? Fantastic. Supports two users superbly. Would love to have the ability to add more than one SSID for "home detection." You should also add a DONATE button, or at least tell us where we can. You're doing Nests job for them!

Great app, and even better developer. This app adds functionality that Nest should have included from the start. The developer is active and quick to respond.

Wonderful app that fixes an issue with the Nest that I don't understand why they haven't implemented yet. The only suggestion I have is that it needs support for multiple SSID's to use as "home". I have a 2.4ghz and a 5ghz network with two different names and my phone will lock onto one or other. Please add this in a future update! Keep up the great work!

Was waiting to buy a Nest, as I wanted geofencing, so when I saw this I bought one. Excellent app when coming home, but it isn't setting Nest to away when we leave the house. When that is fixed, I'll give it 5 stars.

The ability to disable setting away for X hours would be good (for when we go out and leave kids with a babysitter) and recognising multiple home network SSIDs would make it perfect.

Worked at first. Now wont set my nest to away. tried uninstalling and reinstalling and associating with nest again. Still wont set nest to away.

Just got even better with the ability to change the away trigger time. With having the Nest Cam, I want the timer to be small.

This has worked great on my and my wife's phone for the last month, but all of a sudden has stopped setting to away. Return home always works. The log says, "Backend updated: Nest not updated: Others at home" but we are together with our phones so no one else is there. I have removed the app from both of our devices, and the association with Works with Nest from my Nest account and reinstalled and re-setup, but it did not resolve my issue. Maybe a software update?

Been using this for a few days and it's working awesome! Hoping to see some energy savings this month

Would love to try this but it crashes within seconds every time on my nexus 5.

This updates my Nest fine when I arrive home. When I leave home it shows that I left the geofence, but it never updates the back end, leaving my nest to never be in away mode

Does what the Nest should do out of the box

I'm suprised Google, who owns Nest and majority of Android doesn't have this app functionality you'd expect straight out of the box on their Nest products and Nest app. I called Nest and Google years back as well as recently and got no solutions. This independent developer did what one the largest tech companies can't - do their job and get it right.

Why doesn't Nest do this as standard?? Much better than "Auto Away" - that kept being too keen and killed my home temperature far too often. I've now disabled Auto Away and use this app on both my and the wife's phones. Now Nest works much better than originally implemented. Only four stars though because it sometimes thinks I'm not in the house when I am. Wifi detection only half solves this because I've got two access points in the house and you can only set one in the app.

Works well as described.

It used to worked perfectly. It seems the recent update 1.1.6 may have added bugs. Now, while I am away, the app constantly sets away status even when my wife is home with this app on her phone. Also regularly getting backend errors. Good work so far, though!

Just what Nest needs, a geofencing solution that works. New persistent notification is a little buggy, always wanting to set my Nest to Away whether I'm home or not - but I'm sure that'll get ironed out. Keep up the great work!

Worked perfectly, but since the last update it's switching home away regularly without moving my phone.

Something that nest should have done, this is brilliant.
