About Simply DTMF Tone Generator

I checked all other DTMF tone generator apps, saw that they were all old and buggy, so I made my own version vastly better. It incorporates feedback in the reviews of the other apps. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to email me. I hope you like it.

Description:
Play a tone, any tone. This app is basically two apps in one. One side is a simple DTMF tone generator, and the other side is produce-any-tone-you-want signal generator. You can hear what any frequency sounds like. The help screen in-app also provides the official frequencies for DTMF tones. When playing back recorded DTMF numbers, put your Android phone near the analog telephone's speaker so that you can dial through your PSTN (Public switched telephone network) phone.

Features:
1. DTMF specific tones
2. Ability to save unlimited DTMF tones for common use (and change playback time for tone and pause)
3. Proper playback for recorded numbers so that you can dial by clicking a single button
4. Ability to play any tone in the second app page.
5. No permissions required! No ads!
6. Easy share if you like it!

FAQs:
Q: What are all the pause and play times?
A: By default, recorded playback transmits signaling rate of 93 ms per tone with 40 ms between tones. Pause characters are 1 second.

Q: What does DTMF stand for?
A: Dual-tone multi-frequency signaling.

Q: What is DTMF used for?
A: Telecommunication signalling over analog telephone lines, aka tone dialing.

Background:
Hi, my name is Danial Goodwin. I am a developer who creates many different applications. I love working on them, making them better, and providing features users didn't even know they wanted yet ;). But, unfortunately, I don't have time to keep updating every single one of them. The good news is that I love getting feedback about my apps AND the more feedback I get about a particular app, the more likely I am to update it, especially if many users request the same feature. =]

More technical info:
DTMF Tone Generators allow Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) signaling which allows machine control remotely over standard telephone lines. Some HAM radio operators use this too.

Makes a repetitive clicking with the tone generator. Is there a way just to get a clear uninterrupted tone?

K70%
by K####:

no ads, can record sequences and label, can control length of tones and pauses, etc. Exactly what i needed for ham radio systems control. Thank you very much.

Works for what I need done. I was looking for an app that will save DTMF codes for my amateur radio repeater, and got it. Works well.

Dont think people are creative enouph to completely utilyze all of what this app can dew bro... Thanx

Using to program my hearing aids. Ability to set length of pause and tone length is great. Very clever to have thought of inserting comma for silent periods in the programming part. Only thing more that I'd want would be to be able to use media volume OR ring tone volume to control output.

Works great for my amateur radio uses when I don't have a DTMF keypad.

This is very embracing for me to rate this really useful apps 4 out 5. I want to rate it above 5 but as it is highest adding 'Export as WAV/MP3/AnyOtherFormet' option will push me re-rating this grate piece of tool with highest five marks! And again thanks for your effort on helping us free...

Developer is right: this app provides functions I didn't know I needed. The interface is clean simple, well thought out. I can't to figure out how to actually use it.

Y70%
by Y####:

Simply DTMF acts like a microphone which works well with apps that don't send proper dial tones; sometimes Google voice is like that. Recorded tone duration and spacing work well however when playing back the first time the first couple of digits seem to run together instead of being properly spaced. I will try this on my Samsung Galaxy S5 and see if the spacing problem happens there too. Having the letters on the number Keys is great. At first I thought that was broken because I used the back arrow on my tablet instead of the back arrow inside the app. Perhaps the default could be to have the letters showing on the number keys?

However that tone generator beta, it claims to be able to generate tones up to 100000 hertz. Audible tones peak out at 18000 hertz on a really really good day so not sure what is going on there unless false harmonics are being calculated. Thats part of the reason CDs sample rate is 44000 sps because the frequency range is half the sample rate.

Y70%
by Y####:

If you want to store and play strings of DMTF tones, here you are. Is you're wanting to generate a specific tonal frequency, you may be disappointed as the frequency generator doesn't reliably produce the tonal spectrum. Sometimes it drops to a lower frequency.

I really like how clean and straightforward the app is, and it has a lot of features, but it has audio problems. Maybe it's just on my Samsung S5, but it stutters while dialing, and in the beta tone generation, I hear a regular ticking. Unfortunately, these make it unusable for me. :-

Having got a hands free headset for my home phone I had no way of initiating an outgoing call with it. This app fixes the problem and the link to the phone book is really useful. A handy enhancement would be for the app to pick up any number against a contract entry

C70%

I got wat i ws looking for.. Workd flawlessly.. Wat new feature i would like to c in the future, is an option to set the given recording in a loop that would b very useful.. Deserves 5 stars otherwise.

N70%
by N####:

I would like to give this app 5 stars if I can select individual phone number when adding from contacts. Or maybe, send DTMF directly from contact without adding it to the app first. Also it would be nice if the Records list can be sorted by name.

N70%
by N####:

Does what I want it to do. Maybe it will do SIT some day too~

N70%

Good. Does what is supposed to!

N70%

B70%

Uses ring volume so it doesn't work when phone is on vibrate. Contact import doesn't take into account multiple numbers per contact. Ability to configure and toggle dialing extensions on/off would be very useful.

W70%
by W####:

Looks perfect but has one drawback: the tone is not loud enough even with my volume control at the max. I wanted to open a CB radio transmitter with this app, put the speaker of my Galaxy Nexus right next to the mike, but didn't succeed. And my Nexus can sure play music pretty loud! :) PS: I've just installed "DTMF tone generator" so now I know my Nexus can play DTMF tones much louder as well. I the author of the "Simply DTMF Tone Generator" improved this part I would give it five stars immediately.

App is easy to use and has the basic features I would want. However, it does not respond to the volume control for ringtone, media, or alarms. Any hidden way to increase the volume?
