Any reason to just add "OK Google now" to the string that is sent? Why make the user say it into the watch?
Unfortunately these sorts of apps need to "just work" but this doesn't. I have lockscreen as swipe. When I say "OK Google remind me to X in Y hours" or whatever. The first time it works... Up to a point. I still need to get my phone and press the tick. Sigh. It will turn on my screen without fail, but after the first time will not automatically unlock. Also, on my watch, I get a black screen.
attempted to grab logs, will see what I have later
There are about 7 steps to have it working, it is completely useless. You need to have your your phone unlocked to use it. Most of the time your phone will unintentionally do the voice recognition before the pebble send the message.
Had trouble at first. Eventually worked out needed to run ok pebble as a service #and configure input method in phone. So voice setting accepts voice from bluetooth headset. Then Google now started behaving. Can't see any other notifications outside of this yet. Hoping to eventually configure Tasker. It's all a journey right?
So I have the problem where the app closes it self but I get the notification on my phone not peeble I have the notification access on so it should work help lgg3 android 5.0.1
On my first try I couldn't figure out how to use this app, so I ended up uninstalling it. I decided to give it another try today. This thing has a huge potential, but it needs to be made more user friendly. Instead of starting the app as a foreground process why not make pebble start the app? I noticed that some pebble apps start their companion app automatically, so it looks doable. This will simplify things greatly.
You have to manually start the app on your watch then several presses to get to dictation mode. Good start but not what I was expecting.
awesome idea, but on pebble time I just see loading and then the app closes... Please help. Using nexus 6 Lollipop
It suffers from that infamous pebble bug where identical notifications won't appear on the watch for a period of time. Dev, for a quick fix add the initiation timestamp to the notification body.
Works well with tasker. I wish it could automatically approve reminders and send texts with Google Now without requiring me to pull out my phone or rely on brittle tasker recipes.
You need to change the notification ID and variate the notification text every time, otherwise the notification is only send once on the first try. Following notifications will not be displayed for reply on my pebble. Im runnig 5.1 on the Nexus 6
Notifications enabled in pebble app, but nothing happens on the watch. All it says is just a moment and then closes.
A very inventive way to provide functionality that should have been included with the firmware. Thank you!
Moto X 1st gen. Instructions please.
Doesn't seem to invoke google but works wonderfully a tasker plugin
Since installing tasker it crashes my watch every time I try and use it.
Still some bugs (which is a given with the beta tag.) I would have a bug where using it would end up making my phone become unresponsive on a black screen. But when it worked it was magic.
The limitations are not your problem, keep up the good work.
Notifications show on android, but not my watch
Get extra dictate notification on phone but nothing on pebble - just a moment screen and the nothing else. Would be great if worked. Phone was unlocked and switched on.
Doesn't do anything except send a notification, high hopes that this app works in the future.
Kinda pointless when you have to turn your screen on and unlock your phone. Was excited at the possibility of initiating texts without replying or using other Google now features, but looks like I'll have to keep waiting...
What is this Tasker everyone is talking about? I installed both apps (on my pebble and phone) and every time I used it it just gave me a black screen. I'll give it more stars when the bugs are worked out.
Great idea please let me know when you get to work right.
Doesn't work after the first time as everyone else says...
I suggest you just wait for Pebble to open some voice/dictate APIs :)
Papagonja123musik!, good things you have here, and is so nice to have it well us good things that you need, nice nice and good all together
Although I haven't been able to get this app functioning, I love this concept and in full support of its development.
As others have stated, my Pebble intercepted the notification once and only once. It is enabled in my notifications settings on the Pebble Time app. My screen was on for testing. The notification appears on my phone but never makes it to the Pebble. Dialer for Pebble sends a unique character in every notification, I think that might be the trick. EDIT: this update works great with the 3.6 api!
It looks like people can get this working once they integrate Tasker. Now can someone please help me do that because I don't know how. I do have Tasked on my phone.
Took me a bit too figure out Tasker integration but setup profile with state>variable value, where variable is OK pebble and now you just give commands and run any Tasker task without needing OK google. My example I used was turning my phone on silent by saying "silent on" and Tasker picked it up (after a few tweaks) instantly. Lots of possibilities!
It's fine and works but why even have to say OK Google? You already had to push a button to initiate voice input, there's no need for a hot word.
It's a work around, but one that works! Screen is off, no lock pin either. Run pebble app, say "OK GOOGLE Set Timer for 5 Minutes" It recognizes the text, shows it, you press the button to submit. It injects the text into the Google Search box and I have to unlock the phone and tap on the button to start the timer. Not a lot of improvement outside of doing that on the phone itself. Any way to make that last process automatic? Either through Tasker or within OK Pebble app? I am rooted if that helps. Also, on my PTR, the app itself goes to a black screen after sending the text. Would be better if it would close. Then just tie it to a shortcut button to launch, say what you want to say, and when it sends it closes. Thanks for the work so far!
Now that it has been updated to use the voice API, it has become a very reliable and incredibly powerful app. I use Tasker integration to control the lights in my house and it works beautifully for being in its beta stage. Keep up the good work!
Very high hopes, but no dice. Opening the app on my Pebble gives me a black screen with no interaction. I'll give you three stars since it seems to be working for most people, but not for me. Any idea on what I might do to fix it?
So if I must have my phone unlocked and awake (outside developer's control) and I get no response on the watch from my Ok Google request, what is the point? My phone is out and I have to read the response on the phone, why get the watch involved at all.
Never saw it do anything...
